[Bug 1925982] [NEW] GNOME Settings automatically closes on open.

2021-04-23 Thread Alexander Koskovich
Public bug reported:

Segfaults seemingly, I haven't changed any theme stuff and it worked on
a fresh install so I don't know what's causing this.

Also if it's helpful this doesn't seem to be an issue with Ubuntu itself
as it happened on Intel's Clear Linux so it appears to be GNOME.

[Bug 1882291] Re: Gnome Shell clock is truncated/corrupt on the right side

2021-04-23 Thread Travisgevans
I've been seeing it too in 20.04 (Focal), using NVIDIA binary drives and
Xorg. I usually see it on the top bar (has happened several times over
the past couple of days) but I've also seen it at least once on the lock
screen. It seems that moving the mouse pointer over the time corrects it
temporarily until the glitch next happens.

I could run an apport-collect command on this bug if anybody is still
interested.

[Bug 1925823] [NEW] gnome-terminal losts or ignore the newline character coming from mouse paste

2021-04-23 Thread Péter Prőhle
Public bug reported:

If there is a complete bash command with terminating newline in the cut
and paste buffer,

and it is pasted into a gnome-terminal,

then the command is *not* executed, the newline is ignored by the
terminal.

But in return this bug, the pasted command is showed in reverse
coloring,

what is very disturbing when a command is not executed, but decorated in
a funny way instead.

This is new in 21.04, the dropping commands into a gnome-terminal worked
fine in 20.10, ...

... and in the last 27 years of my linux usage.

[Bug 1925792] [NEW] Russian phonetic keyboard unavailable

2021-04-23 Thread Dee Winthrop
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 21-04 installed from scratch (on dual-boot) a few days before
stable release.

To be able to switch to a language that requires a keyboard different
than my own, I used the GUI's "language and region" settings > "manage
installed languages" > install/remove languages. I found "Russian" and
it was added. Next i pressed the + sign. Selecting "Russian (Russian
Federation)" yielded 2 keyboards: "Russian", "Russian (Polyglot and
Reactionary)".

Neither keyboard was "phonetic". The phonetic keyboard has been with the
standard Ubuntu installs for at least ten years.

According to Gunnar Hjalmarsson "Ubuntu 21.04 is shipped with the same
version of the xkb-data package as in 20.04 and 20.10, so nothing has
changed. And multiple variants are available, including the one named
Russian (phonetic)." So this should be fairly easy to fix, no?

I find that the language settings are a little too complicated for me to
tamper with on the terminal, but I am including the information I was
able to collect:

~$ locale -a
C
C.UTF-8
en_AG
en_AG.utf8
...
nb_NO.utf8
POSIX
ru_RU.utf8
ru_UA.utf8

$ setxkbmap -print -verbose

[Bug 1925766] [NEW] extensions disabled after upgrade

2021-04-23 Thread Anton Piatek
Public bug reported:

I updated yesterday (I think), and after a reboot today all extensions
were disabled.

I went to the gnome-shell extensions website, ticked to enable my
extension and it toggled on. The extensions did not seem to work. I
reloaded the page and they are off again. I clicked enabled, still
nothing. Reload page and all are off.

I check logs in journalctl and could see nothing relevant.

Eventually a bit of searching suggests enabling via gnome-shell-tweaks,
so I open that up and they're all unticked, and disabled (can't be
ticked). I realised there's a global "enable extensions" tickbox which
has been unticked. Enabling this fixes everything.

I have had to do this in the past, several months back as I had forgotten until
now.
Something is disabling this on upgrade and it is not obvious from the
extensions web-page that they have been disabled.

Ideally they should not be disabled at all, but if they are at least
there should be some more obvious feedback after upgrade and on the
extensions website
