[Bug 1930359] Re: gdm fails to start with latest mutter 3.36.9-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 in focal-updates

2021-06-17 Thread Matthew Ruffell
I spent some time attempting to reproduce on AWS today, using a
g4dn.xlarge instance, which has a Nvidia Tesla T4 GPU, which supports
GRID.

I installed ubuntu-desktop-minimal and rebooted, and gdm started fine
with mutter 3.36.9-0ubuntu0.20.04.1. I confirmed this by looking at the
instance screenshot.

I then downloaded and installed the Nvidia GRID 450.51.05 driver, and
rebooted. The system came up, I checked lsmod, the nvidia kernel modules
were loaded, and the instance screenshot shows gdm running. I then
installed VMware Horizon Agent 7.13.0-17123958 and rebooted, and again,
gdm started just fine.

Attached status of gdm3.service, nvidia-smi and instance screenshot.

I wonder if this is GPU specific? or hypervisor specific, since the
affected user runs on VMware esxi. I will again ask for more
information.

But for the moment, this seems very specific to the affected user's
environment, and not a widespread regression.

Seeing this failure on Focal now too.

Also seeing a similar problem on Bionic armhf which I'm wondering if it's

[Bug 1926062] Re: [hirsute/impish] Can't turn bluetooth on again after turning it off

2021-06-17 Thread Luis Oliveira
I upgraded yesterday from 20.10 to 21.04.

In 20.10 I had trouble pairing with my current headphones (Havit 162) - I had
to repair through the terminal.
Now, in 21.04, the repairing works in the GUI.

However, today I turned off the bluetooth in the GUI and when I tried to
turn it on again the toggle did not work.

I had to input in the terminal
```systemctl restart bluetooth```
[Bug 1932357] [NEW] Mouse wheel not interpreted correctly when using external display
2021-06-17 Thread gpothier
Public bug reported:
This is a very weird bug that started occurring since I updated to 21.04. I am
not sure mutter is the correct package. I have a bluetooth mouse that works
perfectly (I'll clarify below why I'm sure it works). Sometimes, seemingly at
random, scrolling stops working correctly, but not always in all applications
(eg. scroll starts failing in Firefox, but works fine in Terminal). When this
happens, moving the mouse around over a window causes it to scroll randomly up
and down, while moving the mouse wheel also works randomly (sometimes it
scrolls in the correct direction, sometimes in the opposite direction,
sometimes not at all).
This occurs only when I have my external monitor connected (dual, non mirrored
displays). If I unplug the display, the problem disappears immediately. If I
plug the display back in, that problem reappears immediately (if it was already
occurring before). While the problem is "active", I can scroll without problem
using the notebook's touchpad. It seems to affect only the mouse.
I've seen messages like this in the log, but it does not seem strongly
correlated with the occurrence of the problem:
libinput error: event21 - MX Anywhere 2S Mouse: client bug: event processing
lagging behind by 21ms, your system is too slow
Also, rebooting the computer fixes the issue for a few hours/days, until it
appears again. Also, the problem sometimes "solves itself" after a few minutes,
or it intermittenly appears every few minutes.
