Can't. I fixed the typo.

Nothing remarkable in journalctl...

And it's a bit random: some subfolders I can download to. Others not.
Permissions/ownership are the same.

[Bug 1971744] Re: external monitor static image after unlocking session

2022-05-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please also remove these extensions:

'fullscreen-notificati...@sorrow.about.alice.pm.me',
'native-window-placem...@gnome-shell-extensions.gcampax.github.com',
'autoselecthead...@josephlbarnett.github.com',
'sound-output-device-choo...@kgshank.net',
'translate-clipbo...@lsnow.github.io',
'easyscreenc...@iacopodeenosee.gmail.com'

and then log in again. Since extensions cause such a large number of
bugs, removing them is the first thing to try.

2022-05-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it
will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1971768

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 1971704] Re: Wayland/Gnome Shell freezes propably on displaying Gnome Setting

2022-05-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please also check for crashes:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:

   ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash

Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

[Bug 1951075] Re: Nautilus doesn't load and gives GVFS-WARNING

2022-05-05 Thread Joshua Robison
I get this error when Atom crashes.

Just a bunch of "this is deprecated"
"
/usr/bin/atom: line 195: 16065 Killed nohup "$ATOM_PATH"
--executed-from="$(pwd)" --pid=$$ "$@" > "$ATOM_HOME/nohup.out" 2>&1
(node:16144) Electron: Loading non-context-aware native module in renderer:
'/usr/share/atom/resources/app.asar.unpacked/node_modules/superstring/build/Release/superstring.node'.
 This is deprecated, see https://github.com/electron/electron/issues/18397.
"

Atom not opening my project folder was what led me to realize that
Nautilus was also not opening.

[Bug 1951075] Re: Nautilus doesn't load and gives GVFS-WARNING

2022-05-05 Thread Joshua Robison
I have exactly the same issue but keybase is not installed on my system.
I am running stock Ubuntu 22.04 .
This issue happened after I did apt dist-upgrade a couple of days ago (May
4th?).
I upgraded my system to 22.04 from 21.10 when 22.04 was publicly released.
I used the software-updater to do the upgrade.
Since then I had not had any issues at all.
This issue only started after my apt dist-upgrade on around May 4th.
Due to this issue I cannot run Atom as well.

The apparmor workaround fixes it for me. Thanks Karsten.

[Bug 1971752] [NEW] Toggling F11 for fullscreen reduces the restored window size

2022-05-05 Thread Peter Ryan
Public bug reported:

When I open a Gnome Terminal window at a given size (say 80 columns x 24
rows), press F11 to go full-screen, and then press F11 to restore the
window to it's original size, it will be a bit smaller! It will lose
both height and width.

If I keep toggling with F11, the window will reduce to 3 lines and...
I'm not sure exactly how many columns, but it's less than it had.

I'm unsure if the synaptic driver is still of interest for some users and if we

The settings could display some more informative text as 'the controls don't
work with xserver-xorg-input-synaptics, uninstall it to have working settings'

[Bug 1970284] Re: Touch to click cannot be turned off when xserver-xorg-input-synaptics is installed

2022-05-05 Thread Rob Frohne
Not having the control would have disguised the problem for me. It
wasn't only with touch te clicu. There were a number of other similar
issues in other controls. Maybe I don't understand your solution, so it
seems to me the solution that you don't allow synaptic and libinput to
be installed simultaneously is better, but I don,t have the expertise to
suggest how you flag that problem.

[Bug 1971693] Re: Alt+Tab is broken for Java (AWT/Swing) apps in Wayland session

2022-05-05 Thread Dmitry Batrak
The bot strongly recommends to set package for the bug, but I have no idea at
the moment where the problem is exactly. This is definitely not a Java bug, my
best guess is that it's a recent problem in mutter Wayland compositor, so I'll
pick that. But this just as well might be e.g. an XWayland issue.
If anyone knows better, please update the package field, or let me know if I
should update it.

[Bug 1971693] [NEW] Alt+Tab is broken for Java (AWT/Swing) apps in Wayland session

2022-05-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When switching to a Java UI application using Alt+Tab, very often application's
window is raised, but it doesn't get keyboard focus - it stays in the previous
application, and that application continues to process keyboard events. When
the problem occurs, hovering mouse over Java app's window gets the focus
transferred to it.
This problem only happens in Wayland session, not in X.Org session. It can be
reproduced in Ubuntu 22.04, but not in 20.04.4 version.
---
$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
Release:22.04
---
The problem seems to affect all Java versions - reproduced for different
OpenJDK builds (8, 11, 17, 18). It can also be observed for Java version
provided by Ubuntu's 'default-jre' package (11.0.15+10-Ubuntu-0ubuntu0.22.04.1).

Source code for a minimal Java application, for which the problem can be
reproduced, is attached. Download the provided JTextFieldTest.java file, then
from terminal prompt execute 'java JTextFieldTest.java' (Java 11 or later is
required, command should be executed from the location of the downloaded file).
App's window with a text field will be opened. Click with mouse on the terminal
window, then press Alt+Tab and enter some text.
Expected result: focus is switched to Java app's window, and text appears in
its text field.
Actual result: Java app's window is raised, but focus stays in terminal window,
and typed text appears there.

** Affects: mutter (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Confirmed

[Bug 1971704] [NEW] Wayland/Gnome Shell freezes propably on displaying Gnome Setting

2022-05-05 Thread mastier1
Public bug reported:

I got occasional freeze on new Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. The machine is Lenovo 7/8th
gen Carbon with 10th gen Intel.
But after the latest freeze and reboot (because of the freeze) I logged in and
then it freezes everytime, propably when loading gnome setting, I see the icon
emerging on the dock and freezing. Just before the freeze there was kernel and
some packages upgrade)
The report is from previous kernel which I thought it was culprit but it seems
not.

I can login to the machine with SSH therefore I produced this report. There"s
process getting 100% of 1 cpu core: gnome-shell
After a while it blanks (as schedules) to login manager and I can login back
and same story.

I see following error in syslog

[Bug 1968040] Re: Blanked screen doesn't wake up after locking [drmModeAtomicCommit: Argument invalide] [drmModeAtomicCommit: Invalid argument]

2022-05-05 Thread Jorge Pérez Lara
I'm facing the same issue (duplicated in reported bug 1971674) with my
Mi Notebook Pro 2018 running Ubuntu 22.04, an Intel® Core™ i7-8550U with
an NVIDIA GeForce MX150 using Wayland. I thought the issue was with
Nvidia, but I can tell that's not the case.

[Bug 1969896] Re: Evince Document Viewer(42.0) does not remember last page in 22.04

2022-05-05 Thread Sebastien Bacher
could someone having the issue trigger the bug then do

$ journalctl -b 0 > journal

and add the journal file to the report?

(or do 'journalctl -f', trigger the bug and see if anything is printed
in the log)

[Bug 1971674] [NEW] Laptop screen black (not powered on) when inactive but NOT in sleep

2022-05-05 Thread Jorge Pérez Lara
Public bug reported:

I thought this was similar to bug #1971149, but that's not the case at
all. Apparently my problem comes from the screen being black but not
suspended (while playing some audio). Suspending the laptop (by closing
the lid or pressing the POWER buttom) and then waking it up solves the
problem.

Let me attach you the log.

I'm on a Mi Notebook Pro 2018 running Ubuntu 22.04, an Intel® Core™
i7-8550U with an NVIDIA GeForce MX150 using Wayland.

(fixed in 42.1 in theory).

Depending on how Hartono and others feel, we might be able to declare
this fixed in 42.1, but still keep the upstream bug open for the more
extreme cases.

but it doesn't. The bug remains.

[Bug 1970984] Re: Can't save files in a Folder in a Folder 22.04

2022-05-05 Thread Sebastien Bacher
it sounds like #3 could be another issue than the initially reported
one?

nautilus is the filemanager but it sounds like your problem is rather
with the fileselector widget in GTK or the software you are issue. The
description suggests you have the issue with a webbrowser, which one?

[Bug 1962823] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGABRT in __pthread_kill_implementation() from __pthread_kill_internal() from __GI___pthread_kill() from __GI_raise() from __GI_abort()

2022-05-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1970917 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970917

Since the release of jammy,

https://errors.ubuntu.com/problem/bc718fcc290d04f4e23c6246836d992f140e7058

has either been showing bug 1970917 (if the last crash report was from
jammy), or no usable stack trace (if the last crash report was from
impish). So for now it probably makes the most sense to point to bug
1970917.

[Bug 1971516] Re: File save dialog from all browsers can't save outside of Downloads or /tmp

2022-05-05 Thread Sebastien Bacher
so, reading the bug again it seems the title and description contradict
each others?

can't save outside of Downloads or /tmp
vs
Files can reliably be downloaded to any folder except ~/downloads and /tmp.

which one is the correct statement?

also could you describe what error you get exactly when trying to save
to a location which isn't working and get a 'journalctl -b 0 > journal'
log after trigger the issue and attach it to the bug?

[Bug 1970658] Re: Update zenity to 3.42.1

2022-05-05 Thread Jeremy Bicha
It is in https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-build-
meta/-/tree/master/elements/core-deps

That group has some things that are not provided by GNOME like
NetworkManager. Things that are not part of GNOME shouldn't be part of
the GNOME microrelease exception, but zenity is provided by GNOME and
follows the GNOME release schedule.
