[Bug 1988100] Re: Video thumbnails fail to genetate
On second thoughts, > Error creating thread: Resource temporarily unavailable sounds like it would be related to RLIMIT_NPROC. Although it does not explain why -l works. Perhaps the thumbnailer contains a thread leak that is triggered by the 30 second limit, which -l avoids. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1988100 Title: Video thumbnails fail to genetate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/1988100/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

> Don't be alarmed by that. Those two limits are correct and normal Fair enough. I only mentioned it because I noted that the -l flag allowed the process to complete. Sadly I have nothing in /var/crash. I see a couple of gnome-shell reports on errors.ubuntu.com but they are from back in March this year. To be honest, I'm not sure how long this has been going on for. It could have been years. > OpenBLAS blas_thread_init: RLIMIT_NPROC 125184 current, 125184 max Don't be alarmed by that. Those two limits are correct and normal per https://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/jammy/man2/setrlimit.2.html and it does not mean you actually have that many processes/threads right now. To check for crashes, please: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? [Bug 1983645] Re: Can't find 5G option in Network Mode under Mobile Network
Hello Dirk, or anyone else affected, Accepted gnome-control-center into jammy-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control- center/1:41.7-0ubuntu0.22.04.5 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed- jammy to verification-done-jammy. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification- failed-jammy. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping! N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days. ** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-jammy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1983645 Title: Can't find 5G option in Network Mode under Mobile Network To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/1983645/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1988052] [NEW] Nautilus can't extract RAR files with password protected
Public bug reported: I recently install Ubuntu 22.04.1 and I installed unrar package. But if I open a password protected .rar file in Nautilus with Extract here... it should ask for the password, but instead it shows the error "There was an error extracting name.rar RAR encryption support unavailable." Via a terminal with unrar e name.rar it works as expected and if I double click on the RAR file, it opens a window and asks for the password and work nicely extracting the content. ** Tags added: rjs-jj-incoming ** Tags removed: rjs-jj-incoming ** Tags added: rls-jj-incoming ** Description changed: [Impact] gnome-shell's memory usage grows by tens of megabytes with every screenshot. A few screenshots make it 100MB larger and a few dozen screenshots make it 1GB larger. [Test Plan] + + THIS NEEDS CHANGING TO VERIFY THE GNOME-SHELL FIX 1. Log into gnome-shell. 2. Measure its real memory usage: grep RSS /proc/`pidof gnome-shell`/status 3. Take 20 full screen screenshots by pressing PrtScn each time. No need to save them anywhere. 4. Measure the memory usage again. Expected: Memory usage grows a little but growth does not exceed a few hundred megabytes. It should level off after a while and sometimes even shrink due to garbage collection. Observed: Memory usage grows without bounds, easily exceeding 1GB after about 20 screenshots (depending on screen resolution). It never shrinks significantly. [Where problems could occur] Since the fix affects GJS, problems could occur in any part of gnome- shell. [Other Info] This leak requires multiple fixes to minimize the memory usage. For the moment we are only aiming to fix the main GJS portion of the bug that allows memory usage to exceed 1GB. ** Description changed: [Impact] gnome-shell's memory usage grows by tens of megabytes with every screenshot.
