[Bug 2017173] Re: Ubuntu desktop settings unavailable

2023-04-20 Thread Michał Krassowski
When starting `gnome-control-center` from terminal I see:

```
21:54:25.3724  cc-ubuntu-panel[14629]: WARNING: Extension
d...@rastersoft.com is not available or invalid (state 99)
21:54:25.3726  cc-ubuntu-panel[14629]: WARNING: Extension
```

When I open GNOME Extensions app I see that those are disabled. Could it
be that those did not upgrade for some reason? How can I trigger manual
re-installation of these three extensions? Could the error message in
`Ubuntu Desktop` panel be more informative?

[Bug 1987976] Re: firefox black window on wayland

2023-04-20 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Hi Gunnar and others,

with Lunar just released, I'm going over the lunar unapproved queue to
pick out packages that should now become SRUs for lunar.

Could someone please add the SRU template to this bug's description, and
fill it out?

Since the package is in unapproved, and not proposed, I'm switching the
bug task back to "in progress".

Regarding the patch, I see there is still a bit of back and forth in the
upstream merge request[1]. Can we get that stabilized, hopefully even
merged, before committing to an SRU?

[Bug 2017137] [NEW] Xorg sessions on Intel GPUs stutter noticeably in 23.04

2023-04-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Public bug reported:

Xorg sessions on Intel GPUs stutter noticeably in 23.04

Seems like a combination of:

 * over-aggressive latency optimizations in the latest version of triple
buffering; and
 * gnome-shell 44 being slightly less efficient at some operations like
scrolling the app grid.

Workaround: Add this to /etc/environment:

  MUTTER_DEBUG_TRIPLE_BUFFERING=always

** Affects: mutter (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Medium

 Status: In Progress

[Bug 2017097] Re: [raspi] GNOME Shell runs at 30 FPS unless the CPU is being stressed

2023-04-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Think I found it. The new version of triple buffering in mutter 44.0 is
too aggressive at scaling back to double buffering. So that's why 22.04
and 22.10 felt faster on Pi than 23.04 does right now.

The workaround is to add this to /etc/environment:

  MUTTER_DEBUG_TRIPLE_BUFFERING=always

I'm experiencing this so far on a Ryzen 5600X with a Geforce RTX 2060,

I can only imagine direct scanout wasn't being used for some reason

To get FPS in the system journal set environment:

  CLUTTER_SHOW_FPS=1

which will give you accurate FPS but not accurate render times because
OpenGL is asynchronous. To get accurate render times too you will need

[Bug 2016990] Re: [Lunar] Irregular FPS with Path of Exile

2023-04-20 Thread Ernst Sjöstrand
I tested MUTTER_DEBUG_TRIPLE_BUFFERING=never first and it made no
difference.

[Bug 2016990] Re: [Lunar] Irregular FPS with Path of Exile

2023-04-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The other upstream issue currently open that requires
CLUTTER_PAINT=disable-dynamic-max-render-time is
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/2334 but that seems to be
different enough that you should log a new bug.

2023-04-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please report the bug upstream at
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues and mention:

 * GPU model
 * graphics driver in use (lspci -k)
 * The version of libmutter installed (should be 44.0)
 * That CLUTTER_PAINT=disable-dynamic-max-render-time fixes it

[Bug 2016990] Re: [Lunar] Irregular FPS with Path of Exile

2023-04-20 Thread Ernst Sjöstrand
If I set CLUTTER_PAINT=disable-dynamic-max-render-time it fixes the
issue! I only had that variable set during the test.
