[Bug 2016990] Re: [Lunar] Irregular FPS with Path of Exile

2023-06-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
According to upstream, the fix for this bug can't safely be applied to
releases before 44.0
(https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/3080#note_1772454)
so I just *hope* nobody encounters this bug on jammy.

[Bug 2020782] Re: Xdcv: Changing display scale setting and reverting it fails

2023-06-20 Thread Fabio Augusto Miranda Martins
Daniel,

Regarding 3 (the blank screen issue when enabling a monitor): I can
confirm that the issue happens when you're using Workspaces client
5.9.0.4129 (Windows client version) and no longer happens (even with
Xdcv + Gnome) in 5.10.0.4196.

And, by checking the client release notes [1]:

"Resolved black screen issue when using multiple monitors with Ubuntu
WorkSpaces"

[1] https://docs.aws.amazon.com/workspaces/latest/userguide/amazon-
workspaces-windows-client.html#windows-release-notes

Ignacio, if Xdcv ever wants to support Fractional Scaling, I believe you
will also need to look at the details shared by Daniel in his comment
#16. Otherwise, even if we fix the zero hz issue, you will be able to
change/revert scale, but will also need to make sure fractional scaling
is disabled.

[Bug 2023688] Re: error

2023-06-20 Thread Eduardo Barretto
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1794064] Re: Clicking a hyperlink in a PDF fails to open it if the default browser is a snap

2023-06-20 Thread Georgia Garcia
Steve, the snap_browsers abstractions needed an update because the
abstraction had not been updated in an year and the snap browsers now
required read and lock permissions to the file
/var/lib/snapd/inhibit/{browser-name}.lock, but this was also submitted,
approved and merged upstream:
https://gitlab.com/apparmor/apparmor/-/merge_requests/1045

Regarding the patch for evince, I kept the "Recommends" because, yes, the
include if exists checks if the abstraction is present and it only includes in
the case it is, but the actual rule which references the snap_browsers profile
could fail for apparmor versions for which snap_browsers does not exist.

[Bug 2023776] Re: Ubuntu 23.04 + Gnome + Nvidia 525 + Vsync = low fps in Xorg sessions

2023-06-20 Thread Alexander
Hey there Daniel,

thanks for helping out! I can confirm that what nuked my 23.04 install
is bug 2023946, which I responded to a few days ago. While trying to fix
the issue at hand, before I read your suggestion on how to potentially
fix it, I followed a howto online, which was more or less suggesting the
same thing that you asked me to try. Something went wrong while trying
the potential fix and I was left with blinking cursor upon reboot again.
I gave up at this point, saved my data and reverted back to 22.04.2 LTS
for the machine in question. It took me an entire day to troubleshoot
23.04 and revert back to 22.04, but now everything is stable again. What
I also noticed is how trying to install the proprietary Nvidia drivers
during the initial install of 23.04 was causing issues, not so on
22.04.2 LTS, the latter which didn't install the proprietary Nvidia
drivers at all during a fresh installation of the OS (even though the
box for this was enabled / activated). I had to manually select the
newest proprietary Nvidia driver for 22.04.2 after the OS was fully
installed (using the preinstalled drivers tool app), and it worked like
a charm. 22.04.2 is running well, no issues when resizing windows or any
of the other things noticed in 23.04. The only thing that I notice on
22.04.2 LTS is that the framerate is a bit low when opening the Gnome
overview initially (feels like 20-30 fps), but it gets super smooth at
60 fps when opening the overview for a second time right after the first
attempt. In other words, it takes Ubuntu some time to catch up and make
it smooth again, but when it does it's actually really smooth.

That said, I have a secondary machine here with 23.04 and an Nvidia gpu
with proprietary drivers installed. I will be testing the suggestions
that you wrote on 2023-06-16 later tonight, if I am able to bypass the
issue in bug report 2023946 for the secondary machine. Will report back
by tomorrow night with my findings - - - WIP.

[Bug 2020782] Re: Xdcv: Changing display scale setting and reverting it fails

2023-06-20 Thread Ignacio Casal Quinteiro
About the following issue we can definitely take a look at it.

> - Xdcv is reporting a bogus refresh rate

That's an Xdcv bug which is probably also intentionally a design
feature. I think it should be fixed in Xdcv because this design will
break other compositors like it has broken mutter. Technically correct
compositor behaviour would be to render at 0Hz, which would not be
usable ;) So Xdcv probably should be changed to avoid the same problem
occuring in other desktop environments.

[Bug 2024424] [NEW] Right-click menu on dock doesn't scroll when it is long

2023-06-20 Thread Paddy Landau
Public bug reported:

When you right-click on a "Favourite" in the dock, it shows a small menu
relating to that app. For example, right-click on Nautilus to show the
options "All Windows", "New Window", and the various Nautilus shortcuts.

However, when the menu is long (I have many Nautilus shortcuts, so this
happens with me), the top of the menu, which is the most important bit
(for me, anyway, as I want "New Window") disappears above the screen.

The attached screenshot shows the very top-left of my monitor after I've
right-clicked on the Nautilus shortcut. As you can see, the top part of
the menu has disappeared off the top.

Unfortunately, this menu cannot be scrolled; there's no scrollbar, and
the mouse wheel does nothing.

The menu needs to be scrollable.
