[Bug 2043609] Re: 24.04 install (UK keyboard) is showing United States in 'Your Account' section of control center when keyboard is UK.

2023-11-15 Thread Phil Wyett
Time zones would be London.

I used the first working AMD64 daily live ISO of yesterday 20231115.1
that I assume defaults to the new flutter based GUI installer.

[Bug 1879137] Re: The snap-store is using hundreds of MiBs of RAM.

2023-11-15 Thread Jeremy Bícha
Dave, this issue still affects gnome-software which is still used by some
Ubuntu desktop flavors as of 23.10. I intend to propose soon that
1) those flavors switch to the firmware-updater snap or the GNOME Firmware app
for 24.04 LTS
2) allowing me to drop the firmware support
3) perhaps it would then be possible to stop GNOME Software from continually
running in the background.

- Ubuntu's unattended-upgrades, update-manager, etc. handle updating .deb's.
- Snaps automatically update themselves.
- The default install did not have a way to automatically check for firmware
updates though, which was considered a critical enough need that the Ubuntu
Desktop team did not override the app always running in the background.

However, it looks like Flatpak does not have its own auto update
mechanism currently. Hmmm…

On a second note, this issue is also marked as affecting snap-store-
desktop which is the project for the older Snap Store still used in
Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.

[Bug 2043507] [NEW] xdg-desktop-portal-gtk - asks two times "Select window to share with requesting application" when starting sharing a window in google meet

2023-11-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Expected (initial) behavior in Google Meet was
During the meeting:
When I click "Present Now"
Then popup: "Choose what to share with meet.google.com"
When I click "Window" and select window to share and click OK
Then the selected window is shared in the meet

Observed behaviour:
When I click "Present Now"
Then Popup1: "Choose what to share with meet.google.com"
When I click "Window" tab
Then Popup2 "Select window to share with requesting application"
- and Popup1 window list remains empty
When I select a window and click Share
Then Popup1 > Window shows a small image of the selected window
When in Popup1 i click on the window image and Share
Then Popup3: "Select window to share with requesting application" and a list of
open windows
When in Popup3 I select again the window to share and click Share
Then the selected window is shared in the meet

Based on the window title it seems that the extra popups (2/3 above) come from

[Bug 2034619] Re: [amdgpu] gnome-shell gets SIGKILL'd when lock screen or under heavy load in Wayland

2023-11-15 Thread Luca Osvaldo Mastromatteo
I don't think if that is the same issue, but I tried setting the
automatic screen sleep to 1 minute and not always but most of the times
I can't login back to the system since it does not wake up.

The system is still functional, having nomachine installing and
configured trying to login from another computer, I get a successfull
connection with no video, since then, the system takes like 4/5 minutes
to show a black screen with a cursor first, then the lockscreen and
everything works again

[Bug 2042973] Re: Desktop becomes unusable after changing window from fullscreen games on Wayland Only

2023-11-15 Thread Luca Osvaldo Mastromatteo
Trying the following things

- Resetting settings to default using dconf reset -f /
- Deleting .config .cache .local folder

No success

But creating a new user profile temporarily solved the problem.

In case I saved the old profile.

If the issue comes back maybe I can be more specific

Cant think of anything else

2023-11-15 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Thanks for your report.

The "Language for menus and windows" setting shows which locale is used
to determine the display language. That's unrelated to the keyboard
layout for typing. You find the activated keyboard layouts in Settings
-> Keyboard.

Closing.

[Bug 1924251] Re: Embedded browser display corruption under Wayland on Pi desktop

2023-11-15 Thread Dave Jones
This has been fixed for a couple of releases now (since lunar I
believe), and if I recall correctly the issue was indeed the wpe backend
mentioned in comment 17. That would suggest this should be "invalid" for
gtk and yelp, and "fix released" for webkit2gtk.

[Bug 1879137] Re: The snap-store is using hundreds of MiBs of RAM.

2023-11-15 Thread Dave Jones
This appears to be partially fixed under Ubuntu 23.10. While the
application (when running) still eats a few hundred meg of RAM, it does
release that when closed, as opposed to hanging around persistently.
Given apt usually eats over a hundred meg when processing the archive
index, it's probably reasonable for a a graphical application processing
a similar archive and including all the icons and pretty graphics to
gobble a few hundred meg. However, it should definitely relinquish that
memory when not in operation, which now appears to be the case.

In other words, my major objection (that it grabbed this RAM even when
not in use), appears to be addressed. However, that's not the subject
line of the bug; should this be closed / revised? Are others still
encountering issues with the store on mantic?
