I can confirm that still happens in Ubuntu 24.04 and executing

update-alternatives --set x-cursor-theme
/usr/share/icons/Adwaita/cursor.theme

fixes it,

[Bug 2064545] [NEW] Can't enter form field for secret user key passphrase

2024-05-01 Thread Daniel von Obernitz
Public bug reported:

When you configure an openvpn network using the gnome GUI for network-
manager-openvpn and select type "Password and certificate TLS" you can't
enter into the form field for the secret key passphrase - you can click
on it, but when typing, the previously selected field is overwritten.
Via tab you also can't navigate to the field. But it is possible to use
context menu and paste something in the field.

On Ubuntu 22.04 I had no issue with that, I ran into it testing 24.04.

[Bug 2064540] [NEW] Very laggy after latest update/upgrade

2024-05-01 Thread Logan Etherton
Public bug reported:

Last night, I performed a standard apt update/upgrade, and then
attempted to install Python 3.11 via pyenv.

When I tried to install Python 3.11, my system froze for about 10
seconds and then restarted. I tried again, and got the same result.

Since then, opening a terminal and typing anything is very, very laggy.
Switching tabs takes at least a second, moving to another directory,
typing any commands, etc, is all very slow.

I performed the apt upgrade command first. Here is the output from
/var/log/apt.

Thanks, this confirms other applications are affected as well. Following
the other bug you linked, I can confirm that (at least) GNOME settings
and the system monitor are affected as well.

I wonder why 535 was the most recent driver offered by "Software &
Updates -> Additional Drivers". Anyway, switching to the nvidia 550
driver seems to resolve this issue for me fully.

Thank you!

Do you guys know when the fix will officially be available for 22.4.04

[Bug 2064364] Re: gnome-control-center: wireguard pair closes when loosing focus

2024-05-01 Thread wontfix
** Description changed:

  Just installed a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

- In gnome-control-center -> Network -> VPN -> + -> Wireguard -> Pairs
- -> +
+ In Settings (gnome-control-center) -> Network -> VPN '+'-> WireGuard ->
+ WireGuard -> Peers '+'.

- When adding a pair for the Wireguard connection, if the window looses
- focus (for example because we need do copy-paste from another window),
- the entire "pair" dialog closes and we loose as the info previously
- entered.
+ When adding a peer for the Wireguard connection, if the popout or window
+ loses focus (for example because we need do copy-paste from another
+ window), the entire "peer" dialog closes and we lose the previous info.

- As it is, it's almost not humanly possible to setup a wireguard
- connection manually because typing several long keys by hand is too
- error prone.
+ It's not reasonable to setup a WireGuard connection manually because
+ typing several long keys by hand is too error prone.

** Summary changed:

- gnome-control-center: wireguard pair closes when loosing focus
+ gnome-control-center: WireGuard peer info closes on focus loss.

[Bug 2064354] Re: File manager crashes on run

2024-05-01 Thread Sebastien Bacher
@Dominik

> nautilus cannot be started to pick a file in Firefox

nautilus is the filemanager, it's not used to select files in other
applications (that's the fileselector widget from GTK)

also you manage to get a backtrace from nautilus it seems?

From what you copied the crash is in

 #5 0x7ba570201e0d in ProducerCleanup () from /lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/libnvidia-vulkan-producer.so

which means the nvidia 535 driver, which sounds similar to bug #2063827.
Could you try if switching to 550 driver fixes the issue for you?

[Bug 2064485] Re: Discover crasFrequent crashes in plasma-discover with libglib-2.0 errorshes after click on apps or extension for apps or plasma extensions

2024-05-01 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

 If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

 If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
 I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

If you are interested in debugging then please use:

  MUTTER_DEBUG_FORCE_KMS_MODE=atomic
  MUTTER_DEBUG=kms

Then wait until the problem happens again and run:

  journalctl -b0 /usr/bin/gnome-shell > gslog.txt

and attach the resulting text file here.

[Bug 2064485] [NEW] Discover crasFrequent crashes in plasma-discover with libglib-2.0 errorshes after click on apps or extension for apps or plasma extensions

2024-05-01 Thread Paul Schumacher
Public bug reported:

Description:
I am experiencing frequent crashes with the application plasma-discover on
Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS. These crashes occur when I attempt to access the update
functions within the Discover UI. Terminal outputs and system logs indicate
issues with libglib-2.0, showing repeated trap int3 errors, which are typically
used for debug breakpoints in development builds.

Expected Behavior:
Plasma Discover should run smoothly, allowing the management of software
updates and installations without crashing.

Actual Behavior:
Discover crashes frequently, especially when trying to access the updates
section or other specific parts of the application.

Steps Attempted:

Resetting configuration files for Discover.
Running Discover from the terminal to capture any error outputs.
System update and reinstallation of plasma-discover and its dependencies.
Analyzing system logs with journalctl, which showed repeated issues with
libglib-2.0.

System and Package Information:

Ubuntu Version: 22.04.4 LTS
Package Versions:
libglib2.0-0: Installed: 2.72.4-0ubuntu2.2
plasma-discover: Installed: 5.24.7-0ubuntu0.1

This issue significantly impacts the functionality of the Discover
application, hindering routine software management and updates. Any
assistance or resolution would be greatly appreciated.

ProblemType: Bug

Package: libglib2.0-0 2.72.4-0ubuntu2.2
