[Bug 2063221] Re: Drop libglib2.0-0 transitional package

2024-05-07 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package glib2.0 - 2.80.0-6ubuntu3

---
glib2.0 (2.80.0-6ubuntu3) noble; urgency=medium

  [ Simon McVittie ]
  * Revert addition of libglib2.0-0 transitional package. (LP: #2063221)
Because it didn't have a Pre-Depends on the replacement, it resulted
in GLib libraries being absent for an extended period, which is
problematic. Thanks to Julian Andres Klode.

[Bug 2055044] Re: GIMP crash at closure on systems with GLib 2.80.0 (and 2.79.x)

2024-05-07 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello Xavier, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gimp into noble-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gimp/2.10.36-3ubuntu0.24.04.1 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
noble to verification-done-noble. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-noble. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 2064192] Re: Unable to resize windows

2024-05-07 Thread Collin Hays
Too add on to the issue being resolved after signing out and logging
back in. I was using the automatic login option. If I disable the
automatic login option, the issue is no longer present.

Additionally this issue affects every application which I've tried which
uses Electron and a random assortment of others.

[Bug 2055044] Re: GIMP crash at closure on systems with GLib 2.80.0 (and 2.79.x)

2024-05-07 Thread Aaron Rainbolt
** Description changed:

+ [ Impact ]
+
+ GIMP is crashing when closed on Ubuntu 24.04 only. This seems to happen
+ if an unsaved image is present, popping up the dialog asking if you want
+ to save your changes. If you click "Discard", GIMP crashes. This isn't
+ too critical for data safety, but it is a serious papercut and can
+ result in data loss in certain edge cases according to the upstream bug
+ report in GIMP.
+
+ There is already a one-line patch available that solves the problem:
+
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/merge_requests/1442/diffs?commit_id=d7228727d7a4b11909001cf8fd8977d68bd29720
+ This has been merged upstream.
+
+ [ Test Plan ]
+
+ 1. Install GIMP on Ubuntu 24.04.
+ 2. Create a blank image and draw a black squiggly line in it.
+ 3. Export it as a PNG.
+ 4. Close GIMP, and click "Discard" when prompted if you want to save your
changes.
+ 5. Observe crash.
+ 6. Install a patched GIMP that has the previously linked patch applied.
+ 7. Repeat steps 1-4 and ensure that GIMP does not crash and that the image is
saved properly.
+
+ [ Where problems could occur ]
+
+ The patch changes the behavior of signal handlers, meaning that a
+ difference between upstream GIMP and Ubuntu's GIMP could potentially
+ result in the patch being incompatible and causing similar or worse
+ crashing issues. The above test plan will likely catch such issues.

[Bug 1892456] Re: [MIR] malcontent

2024-05-07 Thread Treviño
Please also include libpam-malcontent since that would allow to support
session-max-usage time when logging in from gdm.

Yes, this is happening on daily bases which makes Ubuntu unstable at all.
Please apply the fix to 24.04 ASAP.

[Bug 2065090] [NEW] Backport cmake 3.29 compatibility fix

2024-05-07 Thread Martin Hostettler
Public bug reported:

Please backport

https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/extra-cmake-
modules/-/merge_requests/431

Since cmake 3.29 entered oracular-proposed, the files created by
ECMAddQch.cmake and
shipped in -dev packages cause warnings or errors (with CMP0160 set
to NEW).

Furthermore when libraries that use ECMAddQch are consumed in packages
build using meson, the build fails as the meson cmake compat code
always sets cmake_minimum_required to the current cmake version and
thus CMP0160 is always set to NEW which makes the code generated
before the fix an hard error.

Debian fixed this in #1069972 by updating to 6.1.0, but the linked
upstream merge request also has a backport for the kf5 branch (also
tagged as v5.116.0-rc1) if that is the preferred fix.

For example the package chr (newly synced in oracular-proposed/universe) now no
longer builds in oracular-proposed because of
this (in combination with ksyntax-highlighting).

I've tested 2.80.0-6ubuntu3 on a noble system, the upgrade went as

I still had libglib2.0-0 installed and it got removed when installing

rmadison also confirmed the libglib2.0-0 binary isn't published in

[Bug 2065072] [NEW] German translation for "Copy" is incorrect in Ubuntu 24.04

2024-05-07 Thread David
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 24.04
GNOME nautilus 46.0 (1:46.0-0ubuntu2)

When you try to copy a file it adds (Copy) to the file but since Ubuntu
24.04 with German translations, Nautilus appends "(Kopieren)" to the
file name. This is incorrect, as "Kopieren" means "to copy" in German,
while the desired behavior would be to use the noun "(Kopie)" meaning
"copy".

In older Ubuntu versions (22.04, 23.10) this works as expected and
appends "(Kopie)"

[Bug 2065070] [NEW] Keyboard accessibility dialogs not working

2024-05-07 Thread Treviño
Public bug reported:

[ Impact ]

Enabling a keyboard accessibility feature using the keyboard (like, e.g.
keeping a modifier pressed for 8 secs, or pressing a modifier 5 times in a row)
used to trigger a dialog in the shell to confirm the change.
In GNOME 42 this is no longer the case.

Upstream issue: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/2306

[ Test case ]

- Keep Shift pressed for 8 seconds

- A shell dialog popin up showing:

 Slow Keys Turned On

You just held down the Shift key for 8 seconds. This is the shortcut
for the Slow Keys feature, which affects the way your keyboard works.

Output of
  journalctl /usr/bin/gnome-shell

Should not contain

  TypeError: Clutter.KeyboardA11yFlags is undefined

[ Regression potential ]

Mutter does not compile (this change only implies different includes) or
introspection data is missing

For at least fedora 39 this is resolved. Don't know witch package fixed this.
Removed env variables and all are OK.

[Bug 2064716] Re: gnome-terminal sometimes very dark after gnome unlock

2024-05-07 Thread Egmont Koblinger
Sorry if I wasn't clear. I didn't mean what if you toggle transparency
after the bug manifests.

What I meant was: What if you completely disable transparency, use
gnome-terminal without enabling that feature. Maybe even restart gnome-
terminal, just in case. Does the bug still occur then?

If so, the next step could be to debug what if you remove the
transparency feature from the codebase. It's a downstream Ubuntu patch,
not part of official upstream gnome-terminal. Maybe the bug is related
to (triggered by) that patch even if the setting is disabled, but
doesn't occur with official gnome-terminal.

However, after all, I think it's a problem with the window manager /
compositor, rather than the app requesting transparency. An app, even if
explicitly wanted to, should not be able to trigger such behavior.

Anyway, I'm afraid I won't be able to further assist you or investigate
this issue, we'll need an Ubuntu developer (I'm not one) to join.

[Bug 2064910] Re: Nautilus redisplays unmount icon for SD card after unmounting it

2024-05-07 Thread Casio
This is reflecting a deeper problem - An SD Card is acting differently to a USB
memory stick. From the users point of view (and file manager) both are block
storage devices and should be acting exactly the same.
With a USB stick I see a mount point in /media/main with a disk label I gave it
(FLASH-1GB). In file manager the USB Stick is listed with the same disk label -
this is good.

Whereas for an SD card there is a mount listed in /mnt, but with an
automatically generated partition name mmc-SD128_0xda10bde9-part1 but in
file manager however it is listed with the file system label I gave it
SD128-HOME. Not only confusing but means more code required in file
manager to support such a difference.

I think the issue is not that snap is trying to do something that is
causing an error but more that the file manager can't cope with block
devices that aren't working in a consistent manner. If the SD card
worked exactly the same as per a USB stick this would overall vastly
simplify future system maintenance; less code in file manager, easier to
test, and easier to incorporate new block devices.
