[Bug 625796] Re: cannot download from the terminal on youtube

2010-08-29 Thread Caspar Clemens Mierau
Hello,

I assume you are using a tool like wget and try to download a file from
the web. If this does not work, this is rather not a bug in gnome-
terminal, but I might have a hint on solving your problem:

Your problem might be one of these:

1.) You are calling the url without quotes, which means http... instead
of http As you url contains a quotation mark, your shell
misinterprets this. So try using
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6vcq_VxMFgfeature=related;.

2.) You are not using a tool for downloading files from youtube. Have a
look at the package youtube-dl.

Please let us know if this helps.

[Bug 423587] Re: epiphany fails opening links in tabs

2009-09-03 Thread Caspar Clemens Mierau
Hi. I am using the webkit version:

ii epiphany-browser2.26.1-0ubuntu3

ii epiphany-webkit 2.27.5-1
Intuitive GNOME web browser - WebKitGTK+ ver
ii epiphany-webkit-data2.27.5-1
Data files for the GNOME web browser

I think I found the problem:

I am using the German localized version. Where the English version
states Open Link in New Window - which it does - the German says
Verweis in neuem Reiter öffnen - which means open in new tab.

Therefore this looks like a translation error to me. Not like a bad
translation - it is wrong in this case.

Best,

ccm.

[Bug 413098] [NEW] libpango1.0-0 on karmic crashes (e.g. Firefox)

I made an strace for further investigation (see attached file, where I
just replaced some personal information like email and ip addresses) .
See the line starting with [pid 18425] 09:30:26.766802 and the
following. This is place, where Evolution started to freeze. I assume is
connected to the keyring-manager:

Assigning Ubuntu-Desktop-Bugs as this issue has impact on the main

[Bug 203102] [NEW] [Hardy] gnome-terminal occasionally gets scrambled

2008-03-17 Thread Caspar Clemens Mierau
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

gnome-terminal on Hardy occasionally gets scrambled (see attachment)
during normal usage. Redrawing the terminal by pressing Ctrl-l gives you
a correct screen.

This is a compiz effects enabled desktop so I do not know if this might
be related to desktop effects, but gnome-terminal is the only
application so far giving a scrambled output.

[Bug 144196] evince (gutsy) hides text by changig it to white

Public bug reported:

[Bug 51604] Re: Example feeds need Ubuntu-izing

2007-07-26 Thread Caspar Clemens Mierau
I'd propose solving this bug for Gutsy. As a suggestion here are some
Ubuntu- and Linux-specific feeds:

The official Ubuntu Fridge:
http://fridge.ubuntu.com/ or
http://fridge.ubuntu.com/node/feed

Mark Shuttleworth
http://www.markshuttleworth.com/ or
http://www.markshuttleworth.com/feed

Ubuntu Blog
http://ubuntu.wordpress.com/ or
http://ubuntu.wordpress.com/feed/

Planet Ubuntu
http://planet.ubuntu.com/ or
http://planet.ubuntu.com/rss20.xml

Debian package of the day
http://debaday.debian.net/ or
http://debaday.debian.net/feed/

Ubuntuusers.de Ikhaya (German)
http://www.ubuntuusers.de/ikhaya/ or
http://www.ubuntuusers.de/rss/ikhaya.xml?showtext=true

ubuntublog.de - German Ubuntu Blog
http://ubuntu.blog.de/ or
http://www.blog.de/srv/xml/xmlfeed.php?blog=30685mode=rss2.0

I am sure there a further examples. I would really like to see some
native language blogs in French, Spanish and so on as this would
emphasize the spirit of Ubuntu. Maybe one could read the system language
settings and activate English + system language blogs.

[Bug 124000] disk analyzer (baobab) on gutsy to silent

2007-07-04 Thread Caspar Clemens Mierau
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-utils

When booting live cd and having no real mount points mounted starting
the disk analyzer will give you no gui and no complain. When run from
the command line by typing baobab the message No mount points
detected. Aborted... is thrown. The gui should of course report this,
too and not just silently disappear.

Additionaly a text like partitions have to mounted in order to be
examined would be a good hint for beginners.

Confirming this bug. Fast reproduction:

In most (not all) cases you get a high score.

I assume this bug has an Importance of Low as it does not prevent you
from playing, is only reproducable with direct effort and the bug is
more cosmetic. I guess this is upstream as an already lost game should

actually apt-get remove libgnomevfs2-extra tries to uninstall the

[Bug 115389] gnome-terminal on feisty crashes when giving wrong locale environment

2007-05-18 Thread Caspar Clemens Mierau
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

While playing around with gnome-terminal and locales on feisty I noticed
the following line prevents gnome-terminal from started and leads to a
core dump:

-
$ env LC_ALL=de_DE.UTF-8 CHARSET=de_DE.UTF-8 LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 gnome-terminal
--hide-menubar --geometry=104x32 --disable-factory

(gnome-terminal:6795): Vte-WARNING **: Zeichen konnten nicht von
de_DE.UTF-8 nach X-VTE-GUNICHAR konvertiert werden.

(gnome-terminal:6795): Vte-WARNING **: Zeichen konnten nicht von UTF-8 nach
de_DE.UTF-8 konvertiert werden.
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
--

My command might be wrong but it definitely should not lead to a core
dump. Maybe this is upstream.

[Bug 92186] Evolution on feisty crashes when adding Global Catalog server name

2007-03-14 Thread Caspar Clemens Mierau
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution on feisty crashes when adding Global Catalog server name in an
existing account. This happens not all the time. Attached you find an
automatically created bug report.

Maybe this is a duplicate of the rejected bug #85297

[Bug 90315] Re: Rhythmbox crashes when loading the music.

2007-03-07 Thread Caspar Clemens Mierau
I can confirm the error with the following reproducable setup:

- Feisty Herd5 i386 clean install
- start Rhythmbox
- choose existing mp3 collection (in my case located on nfts drive if of
interest)
- start import

I started playback during the import. After some minutes a crash occurs
and the crash reporter pops up but rhythmbox continues its work.

Crash report attached.

A bette workaround is probably to just remove the configuation directory
as you do not need superuser rights for this.

[Bug 73356] abiword on edgy hangs trying to import OpenDocument text file

2006-11-26 Thread Caspar Clemens Mierau
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: abiword

A fresh installed version of Abiword hangs on trying to open an odt file
(see attached file error.odt). I think this related to the missing ODT
plugin within the default install? The file chooser lets you choose the
file and does not complain about it.

I also attach a working helloworld.odt which gets importet meaning
Abiword does not hang and just shows binary zip stuff.

This bug report is not about the missing ODT plugin but about a hanging
application.

Don't hesitate to ask me further questions.

2006-11-05 Thread Caspar Clemens Mierau

gaim in edgy crashed while actually doing nothing. It just started and
after probably a minute it crashed leaving the attached crash report.
Actually it's to see if this crash is the same as mentioned in the other
bug reports, so feel free to reject this report when you think so. If
you need more information, let me know.
