[Bug 1767541] Re: Transparent background of calculator in ubuntu 18.04 using communitheme

"Now that the snap “gtk-common-themes” is in use, you should no longer
experience this issue."

What's that supposed to mean? How can you set the bug to invalid? I'm still
experiencing the issue.

I installed acroread from the binary file from adobe.com and did not have a

Uninstalling the latter and installing from canonical with apt-get install

[Bug 703128] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV

2011-01-19 Thread Chrescht
I'll try but chances are that I'll not be able to reproduce the crash
since there have been updates in the meantime.

Moreover what I don't really get it why I am seeing a gnome-panel when logging
in with the Ubuntu Desktop Edition session.
The latter should be compiz/unity (no panel).

cheers.

Happened to me when I was compiling the pdf with pdflatex in Texmaker.

Only this time it crashed.
I have not been able to reproduce it yet..

[Bug 690189] Re: nautilus crash when autorun for media is on

2010-12-15 Thread Chrescht
There is no crash report..
I created a report with apport-bug nautilus on the command line.

Once in a blue moon there is apport running but failing to report since
it does not support assertion failures..

I do have a huge .crash file in /var/crash but I think it's the one I
created manually with apport-bug nautilus.

cheers.

Ok just tried the double-click on the .crash file.
Apport tells me it cannot report it since it's an assertion failure (screenshot

[Bug 690189] [NEW] nautilus crash when autorun for media is on

2010-12-14 Thread Chrescht
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When inserting a media device, e.g. USB flash drive or harddisk or a CD the
following happens:

- all open nautilus windows stop responding and close 6-10 seconds after
insertion.
All icons disappear from the Desktop.
- after 3 to 5 more seconds the icons reappear and the media is properly
mounted. I can open a new nautilus and access the media.

For this to happen I have to have the media_autorun_never key set to false.
ps: the time measures above may vary from one machine to another. This is on a
Thinkpad T42.

Workaround:
- set key /apps/nautilus/preferences/media_autorun_never to true in
gconf-editor.

cheers.

[Bug 665226] Re: evince shows blank page where acroread does not

2010-10-23 Thread Chrescht
Ok I just located the trouble-causing lines: the pdf has a lot of
objects like:

29 0 obj /Lenght 61 stream
BT /Helv 8 Tf 28 699 Td 0.000 0.000 0.000 rg (01.09.10) Tj ET
endstream
endobj

Obviously /Lenght has to be /Length.

Now evince still outputs the xref error but that's for later sometime :-).
Error: PDF file is damaged - attempting to reconstruct xref table...

I attached the corrected pdf file histo_ok.pdf.

** Attachment added: evince opens this file just fine (except xref error, not
due to evince bug)

[Bug 665226] Re: evince shows blank page where acroread does not

2010-10-22 Thread Chrescht
Yes it does work in Maverick although it is not an option for me to
upgrade on the Lucid-machines.

evince still outputs many Bad 'Length' errors, starting with:

Error: PDF file is damaged - attempting to reconstruct xref table...
Error (44): Bad 'Length' attribute in stream
..
end ending with:
Error (367873): Bad 'Length' attribute in stream
Error (367985): Bad 'Length' attribute in stream

There are 13145 Bad Length errors in total.

I had the same problem and solved it this way:

Open the Ekiga preferences dialog.
Under Audio/Devices I had my USB web-cam selected instead of Default
(PTLIB/ALSA).

So in other words it was not a real bug at all, at least not for me.

[Bug 378403] Re: 1st call after launch of ekiga works perfectly, but after it's impossible to call, I had to close ekiga and restart it...

2010-05-28 Thread Chrescht
Back again: I had the same issue again: First call after a fresh start of ekiga
works fine, but the second simply has no incoming audio..the status bar is
showing this:
A: 8.0 / 0.0

So there is no incoming audio.
My sip provider is netappel.fr by the way. So there might be a chance that the
problem is on their side..

[Bug 580977] [NEW] evolution some emoticon shortcut keys not recognized

2010-05-15 Thread Chrescht
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When writing a new mail in in evolution some emoticons are not showing up as
images.
One example is the kiss emoticon whose description is :-* .
The emoticon image file is showing up when pressing the space key after the
last character of the emoticon's shortcut key ( = its description in the
emoticon's image properties window, accessible with a right click on the
emoticon itself).

The smiling one is working fine for example: :-) .

I dare say that they all should work..am I wrong?

[Bug 405833] Re: evolution crashed with SIGSEGV in icalcomponent_new_clone()

2010-05-07 Thread Chrescht

I've had this bug in lucid..I cannot reproduce it since evolution simply
started to respond..these were my last steps (probably not related to the
bug..) :

switch desktop to the one having evolution in calendar (month view) showing.
trying to click on any appointment or day:
   - the interface is not responding
   - cpu goes up for a couple of seconds
evolution closes automatically and apport pops up.

[Bug 571316] [NEW] evolution: inserting a link leaves the linked text unformatted at first

2010-04-28 Thread Chrescht
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

In evolution when composing a new mail and inserting a link to some plaintext
the link does not show up as link-formatted i.e. it is not underlined and not
coloured. The link is present though as you can hold Ctrl and click on the
linked text and your browser will show the page..

Now the formatting magically appears once space or enter is hit.
I guess this still is a bug since in karmic - as far as I can rely on my memory
- the link was formatted as soon the link dialog was closed.

[Bug 500913] Re: Week and Month calendar views have strange and broken mouse behaviour (as opposed to good Day and Work Week views')

2010-04-22 Thread Chrescht

I find this bug quite important if you use the calendaring every day..
I wanted to report the scrolling issue and found this report.

When using Calendar, if I put it in month view I can only look at one
month at a time. Despite the deceptive scrollbar, scrolling causes
the calendar to jump an entire month at a time (i.e., I can not see the
last two weeks of Feb and the first two weeks of March).

[Bug 546891] Re: impossible to create folder with existing file of same name

2010-03-25 Thread Chrescht
Well it's not really about the current directory, it's about a file named foo

I guess this is still the expected behaviour although I was a bit
shocked when I saw it :-)

[Bug 270394] Re: Segfault when starting MMS stream

2009-01-17 Thread Chrescht

I just rebooted Ubuntu (8.04). Now my mms radio stream works flawlessly in
rhythmbox.

The first time I tried to run a mms stream rhythmbox asked to install the
following GStreamer package:
GStreamer plugins for mms, wavpack, quicktime, musepack (GStreamer plugins from
the bad set)

After the install, I did NOT reboot since I didn't think it to be
necessary...

So now I am free of this bug now.. :-)
