[Bug 1435108] [NEW] Volume hotkeys stop working (dozens of seconds of delay)
Public bug reported: This seems to be a similar problem to the one described here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1829744 With recent Ubuntu versions, though, gnome-settings-daemon is not there anymore. I tried to kill unity-settings-daemon as a workaround, but it doesn't work. I followed the instructions here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting and I can correctly see the keypresses be received correctly both with xev and with evtest with the latter, I can see that the interesting hotkeys codes: Event: time 1427077143.513820, -- SYN_REPORT Event: time 1427077143.616493, type 4 (EV_MSC), code 4 (MSC_SCAN), value ae Event: time 1427077143.616493, type 1 (EV_KEY), code 114 (KEY_VOLUMEDOWN), value 0 Event: time 1427077143.616493, -- SYN_REPORT Event: time 1427077144.292461, type 4 (EV_MSC), code 4 (MSC_SCAN), value b0 Event: time 1427077144.292461, type 1 (EV_KEY), code 115 (KEY_VOLUMEUP), value 1 And the events can be seen even when the volume hotkeys are unresponsive (the volume is not updated). This seems to happen more often (or at least it's more noticeable to me) when watching something in fullscreen. Keypresses usually aren't lost, but are simply delayed and buffered, and thus if I press the button 5/10 times, after half a minute of so, all the keypresses will trigger the corresponding action all together ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.10 Package: udev 208-8ubuntu8.2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.16.0-31.43-generic 3.16.7-ckt5 Uname: Linux 3.16.0-31-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.14.7-0ubuntu8.2 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity CustomUdevRuleFiles: 80-docker.rules Date: Mon Mar 23 02:07:48 2015 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-08-17 (217 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Trusty Tahr - Release amd64 (20140722.2) MachineType: LENOVO 20AQCTO1WW ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.16.0-31-generic.efi.signed root=UUID=259bbe5f-d5f2-42de-89f9-58a9d77e4a21 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: systemd UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to utopic on 2014-10-16 (157 days ago) dmi.bios.date: 05/20/2014 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: GJET77WW (2.27 ) dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available dmi.board.name: 20AQCTO1WW dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: SDK0E50512 STD dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvrGJET77WW(2.27):bd05/20/2014:svnLENOVO:pn20AQCTO1WW:pvrThinkPadT440s:rvnLENOVO:rn20AQCTO1WW:rvrSDK0E50512STD:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 20AQCTO1WW dmi.product.version: ThinkPad T440s dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO ** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug utopic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1435108 Title: Volume hotkeys stop working (dozens of seconds of delay) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1435108/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1160847] Re: gvfs should not attempt to mount MTP devices in an endless loop (cluttering your desktop with messages)
I have a related problem: my Nexus S doesn't actually expose MTP, and so gvfs pops up an error dialog each time I plug it in I checked, and this seems to have been already fixed upstream: (4e21 is the wrong id... 4e25 apparently is fine) http://sourceforge.net/p/libmtp/code/ci/master/tree/src/music-players.h If current devices truly have a different id when they have MTP enabled or not, I think that Ubuntu on phablet should just be a good citizen, and change it as well -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1160847 Title: gvfs should not attempt to mount MTP devices in an endless loop (cluttering your desktop with messages) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1160847/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 924473] Re: Pre-existing empathy gtalk account clashes with the online-accounts one
** Description changed: + This is probably a UX bug for everyone who's upgrading and keeping its + old empathy configuration + + Basically: if you have configured a gtalk account, and you try the new + online-accounts settings in the gnome-control-center, as per bug + lp:855917 in Oneiric you won't notice anything + + in Precise that bug has been apparently fixed, thus empathy + automatically creates a new gtalk account + + There are many things to be done to clear this bug (not all of them at + the same time): + + - modify online-accounts to check if there's another one already configured inside of empathy (probably not a good idea: it's empathy's duty to behave well) or at least warn of the possibility + - modify empathy to stop using the settings from online-accounts (if the related account has been removed from inside empathy and if they haven't been modified in gnome-control-center since) + - modify empathy to propose to merge the two (or delete one of the two) + - modify empathy to display with a label, or something, that this account hasn't actually been configured inside of empathy + + Here is the old description: + + -- + Empathy creates a second gtalk account, identical to the first one... when launching empathy it fails to connect with the bogus account, and thus displays an error after removing this account and logging off and on again, it appears again (but not more than one time: it doesn't cumulate between logins, it'll just create a single copy of the normal gtalk account) this doesn't happen with the other (facebook, bonjour, msn) accounts that I've configured ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: empathy 3.3.4-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-12.20-generic 3.2.2 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-12-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl ApportVersion: 1.91-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Jan 31 20:19:50 2012 InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release amd64+mac (20111012) SourcePackage: empathy UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-01-20 (11 days ago) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/924473 Title: Pre-existing empathy gtalk account clashes with the online-accounts one To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/924473/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

my 2 cents: i don't think it's wise to set the bug for all those projects as invalid even if the bug is not in the sources of these projects, it is still affecting the application, and thus i think that we risk to see many more users like Dietmar who are still affected by the bug (that is, until the fix will be released in the normal updates), and thus think of changing the status of the bug back to confirmed... especially for a bug with an high notability like this one (many duplicates and many projects affected) -- Embedded Terminal Emulator isn't giving a TERM variable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/621927 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to vte in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 621927] Re: Embedded Terminal Emulator isn't giving a TERM variable
if the problem is to avoid presenting this bug as a thing to be worked upon by the various developers team, i think there could be 3 different compromises: 1- (would require an enhancement in launchpad or to workaround this with a tag) set the bug-project combination of #621927 vte as blocking for all the other projects 2- (since, to be certain that the bug depended only on vte, a fix had to be developed, this shouldn't be a problem) set the bug as fix commited also for all the other projects 3- set the bugs as confirmed, but ignore confirmed bugs in the workflow: only work on triaged bugs... since the bug can't be really fixed in tilda, guake, etc. in this case we could have reverted the state from triaged to confirmed (using as definition of triaged: ready to be worked upon by the developer) i realize that to enhance launchpad another bug (or blueprint) should be opened, but i'm writing this down also because it could be simply the way that you work to be improved obviously, by definition, it's the way _you_ work, so at the end of the day it's only your decision that matters on how you decide to do these things -- Embedded Terminal Emulator isn't giving a TERM variable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/621927 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to vte in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 453072] Re: Context menu for an USB pendrive shows Unmount, Eject and Safely Remove Drive
I disagree with Michał Gołębiowski... i know the way around with the terminal, but to say that the terminal is more convenient a priori is simply wrong: if we already have a place to manage the eject/umount of the devices, with the users (all users, even advanced ones) accustomated to reach there to perform the desired operation, it's unconvenient to force them to think: oh, right... i want to umount the device i'm seeing here in nautilus, but here i can only eject it... if i want to umount i have to open (if it's not already opened) a terminal and tab the way all to the mountpoint however i agree with the idea of presenting users with as few options as possibile, and if there isn't a better solution i guess that removing it altogether is better than what we have now... maybe (since umount is typically used to repartition/format a volume) it would be good if palimpsest supported partitioning or if gparted made more visible their umount command (right now is in the context menu) -- Context menu for an USB pendrive shows Unmount, Eject and Safely Remove Drive https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/453072 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem-mozilla using ubuntu 8.04 and totem-mozilla totem version 2.22.1-0ubuntu2 the movie in this web page: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorials/ caused a crash (gathered after i close the firefox tab, because firefox was stalling, you know when in compiz an unresponding window became obscured?)... while it was loading i clicked on the bottom right corner (where it should popup the right click button menu) and on the bottom left corner where there's the play button... actually i'm unable to replicate it... the plugin doesn't crash anymore... althought the movie doesn't play (the play button is gray), if i choose to open with the totem player the movie seems to play fine... i think that's a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/147683 but i saw fine to open this because: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/147683/comments/11 i don't use launchpad since quite a while... i presume the attachment is being added automatically... i appreciate that now launchpad checks for me if the bug is a duplicate... but why there isn't a way to automatically add comment attachment to that bug without opening a new one? sorry for the bad english...
