[Bug 1323434] Re: Awful memory leaks when using image editing software
For reference I've posted a related question to see if I can do some more investigation myself here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/533052 /how-to-find-and-report-memory-leak Meanwhile it seems to be shared memory that is leaking so I'm wondering if it is actually a problem in the X Server or graphics driver? [Bug 1323434] [NEW] Awful memory leaks when using image editing software
Public bug reported: Whenever I use image editing software I the whole system basically grinds to a halt after a little use (not more than a few minutes normally). It doesn't make much difference which software I use - the problem happens with Gimp, Inkscape, Dia and Shutter (when editing the image). However the problem does not occur with LibreOffice Draw. Using htop I notice that the cache figure starts to increase very rapidly with every edit/brush stroke that I make, until it uses up the entire available memory and the entire swap partition. And understandably, with no free working memory left, the computer is completely unresponsive. This is quite a severe problem because it means that I can't use this computer for any image editing and if I make a mistake the whole computer will lockup and I could potentially lose unsaved data in other open applications. [Bug 1170647] Re: Clicking on Nautilus’ launcher icon opens new window instead of restoring the minimized one when browsing external drives/locations
I'm using 13.10. It seems to be somewhat related to this: http://askubuntu.com/q/235805/38137 If you click on the Hard Drive launcher icon, a folder window appears but the indicators show that it is a file window. If you then minimize this window, it appears to go to the Files launcher, but actually the correct way to restore it is to click on the Hard Drive launcher icon again. This is ok (ok, perhaps a little confusing for the user - the indicator should really point to the Hard Drive launcher not the Files launcher when such a window is open) provided that the hard drive icon remains docked to the launcher. The real problem comes when you undock the Hard Drive/Partition's icon from the launcher - then you have the same behaviour with no reasonable alternative. I hope this explanation makes sense. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1170647 Title: Clicking on Nautilus’ launcher icon opens new window instead of restoring the minimized one when browsing external drives/locations To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bamf/+bug/1170647/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1027518] Re: Evince doesn't display menus or documents correctly
Thanks very much for this workaround - works great! However, I don't understand why this is necessary - I have a symbolic link from /usr/share/fonts/truetype/Windows - /windows/Windows/Fonts so that I can share the fonts I have installed on another partition, but I don't see why that should prevent it form accessing the default fonts? The built-in fonts that come with the system are still in the default location so why does it suddenly decide to use a font that is not default? I hope I've explained myself well.
