[Bug 130530] Re: dpkg: error processing eog (--remove)
Thank you for your response. There was an icon of Autopackage software installer (GTK+) in /usr/share/icons/hicolor. It's a third party software package manager. Hello. People on the forums using the Feisty repo's report the problem is solved on feisty. Upstream reports that upgrading the lib's solves this problem : http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=351322 Could a fix be backported to edgy? (Altho I know Edgy might only get security updates). This problem affects more then Rhythmbox as you can see by the duplicate bug reports. It breaks playback for all media (movies/music) for all programs (VLC,Totem,Rhythmbox...) that use remote sources like smb and even ftp I believe. -- [edgy] gstreamer, rhythmbox won't read files over smb https://launchpad.net/bugs/60326 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 61953] How to freeze GNOME in simple steps.
Public bug reported: Start gedit , type some characters. leave it, don't save. Start firefox or any other program so it is in front of the gedit window. Press the logout button, press shutdown. You are now stuck... gedit asks to save the current file before shutdown. But the dialog is behind firefox (or whatever program you opened) The tabs to focus programs in the panel don't work at this point. So you are stuck, you can't save the file, and the PC won't shut down. And you lose whatever work you had in gedit. This is a pretty common situation. [Bug 61185] Re: please detect corrupt archives.
I am talking about .rar files. And in my tests, any type will do, single rars, or split rar (files packed in multiple parts) Al you have to do to reconstruct the event is open a .rar that is not complete. What I did to test was pack some files, upload them to an ftp, download them, and abort the download before it was completed. When you click the archive, file roller opens, when you unpack it, file roller asks for a password. and again, and again.. I guess you could use this file to test, abort the download before it's complete : http://users.telenet.be/greenhouse/Ledenbeheer.rar (1,97Mb) PS: I just tested, and you are right, when this happens to a .zip file, you get an error, alto the error does not say anything about a corrupt archive, it says the file might be part of a multi file archive. Perhaps room for improvement on that. PPS: I'm on edgy; but had the issue on dapper 2. -- please detect corrupt archives. https://launchpad.net/bugs/61185 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 61185] please detect corrupt archives.
Public bug reported: At the moment when an archive is corrupted, file roller doesn't detect this. I am talking about corrupted rar files, so part of the problem might be with unrar-nonfree. (but I suspect other archive types suffer from the same problem. When a archive is corrupted, file-roller asks for a password. You press enter because it has no password, when file roller comes at the corrupted part, it restarts, asks for a password again, and so on, and so on. File roller should detect the corrupt package and notify the end user. While I'm at it, time estimation on the unpacking process would be nice 2. ** Affects: file-roller (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- please detect corrupt archives. https://launchpad.net/bugs/61185 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
