[Bug 1993907] Re: nautilus freezes randomly
Unfortunately, after several hours/days, the issue reappears. It's as if when Tracker3 is doing some more heavy reindexing in the background, when the laptop is not in use, it hangs. In my case the issue is definetely with Tracker3; Nautilus hanging is a side effect of not being able to communicate with Tracker (although it should handle it more gracefully, for sure!). When tracker3 hangs, checking its status with tracker3 daemon gives a timeout error after several seconds. Whenever I face the issue, I'm doing a tracker3 daemon -k to kill the daemon, followed by a tracker3 daemon -s to start it again. That works, without having to reset the index completely... until tracker3 hangs again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1993907 Title: nautilus freezes randomly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1993907/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1993907] Re: nautilus freezes randomly
Resetting Tracker3 (the file indexing daemon) seems to have done the trick for me. I'd need a couple days to confirm that the issue is 100% gone, but there's definetely something wrong with Tracker3, my data, and/or the new version of Nautilus in Ubuntu 22.10: tracker3 reset --filesystem DISCLAIMER: the above command will reset Tracker3 database, and trigger a reindex, which might take some time and consume a fair amount of CPU/resources depending on the configuration and the amount of files to reindex.
The problem seems to be related to the search provider, can anyone confirm? As soon as I search anything in Gnome Activities overview, Nautilus hangs. [Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%
I have to rectify a little bit my affirmation above, everything I said about the video issues is right, but the problem with the video lagging and blinking and re-scalling specially when you move the cursor while watching in full screen mode look like a GNOME problem, not a NVIDIA proprietary driver problem, because after setting up the Nouveau open source driver again, the same problem happens when watching video in full screen, so better to setup the Nvidia driver with the workaround than use the open source drive that does not enable all the acceleration features your video hardware has. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1870736 Title: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200% To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1870736/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%
As @vsulimov mention, the solution from @nightwing666 works, in my case in a ThinkPad X1 Gen 2, but the video scaling in full screen doesn't, it makes any video you try to reproduce in full screen to blink, and if you set the video again in not fullscreen mode the video is scaled x2, or it makes the video player to crash. I tried with the default video player from Ubuntu, with VLC Player and even with Firefox reproducing a video from Youtube, in all the cases the result is the same: the video is reproduced well as long you don't enable full screen video reproduction. I tried with scalling at 125% and 150% and it failed in both cases.

Public bug reported: I have Ubuntu Desktop 64-bits 13.10 and 14.04. I'm not able to see network traffic on gnome-system-monitor and/or nmon. In both cases they are always in "zero". Oded, in fact, the author of the plugin is Sivaiah Nallagatla From Novell. "Default Sources" is the literal English translation of "Fuentes predeterminadas", but could not confirm it, because I had no evolution in English to see. [Bug 189131] Re: web shortcuts are not opened with the preferred browser
I've just found that the way .desktop files are handled in Gnome is configured in /usr/share/applications/defaults.list (and can be overriden in a per-user basis editing ~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list). [Bug 81581] Re: Bogofilter plugin doesn't work with bogofilter-sqlite
I tried to reproduce this issue with Gutsy Bibbon Tribe 5 LiveCD. The issue regarding bogofilter vs. bogofilter-sqlite is resolved: I enabled the Universe repository, installed bogofilter-sqlite, uninstalled bogofilter, and checked that the proper binary is created in /usr/bin/bogofilter, and that Evolution still works. Anyway, the Evolution junk filtering in Gutsy is totally broken (at least from the LiveCD). Trying to test this specific issue, I was bitten by these bugs: * Gutsy installs bogofilter by default. In Evolution, under Edit -> Preferences -> Plugins, BOTH bogofilter AND spamassassin are enabled by default, even though spamassassin is not installed (see bug #950337) * Even if bogofilter is enabled in the Plugins menu, the junk filter won't work until the user go to Edit -> Preferences -> Mail Preferences -> Junk tab, and selects a "Default junk plugin". I think this is an Ubuntu specific issue (see #127530). It's not very clear the double configuration (both Plugins AND Preferences) needed to get the junk filter working. * Even if there's no Default junk plugin selected in the preferences, Evolution lets the user mark messages as junk / not-junk, which is totally silly because it's not "learning". -- Bogofilter plugin doesn't work with bogofilter-sqlite https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/81581 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 34247] Re: Trash always empty.
I can too confirm this on Feisty. - Deleted files are moved (correctly) to ~/.Trash on my home partition. - Tha trash applet is always empty. I don't understand why this is assigned to gnome-applets. If I navigate to "trash:" with Nautilus, I see the same behavior (directory empyt). [Bug 92558] The Clock panel's Appointments and Tasks calendar gives incorrect times for Evolution appointments after Daylight Savings Time
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution The Clock panel in the upper right corner of the screen lets me "Click to view your appointments and tasks." However, the times of these appointments no longer match with what I enter into Evolution. I suspect this is due to the Daylight Savings Time change. To reproduce: 1. Enter a new appointment that includes a time into the Evolution calendar. 2. Click on the Clock panel and click on the day of the new appointment. 3. The Clock panel will display a time an hour later than the time in Evolution. This may be an Evolution bug; Evolution claims it is adjusting for Daylight Savings Time, but if it is using an outdated definition, it would explain why Clock is "springing ahead" its unadjusted times. This is very serious. I use the Clock's panel many times a day. Incorrect times make the Clock panel unusable. [Bug 81581] Bogofilter plugin doesn't work with bogofilter-sqlite
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution I'm not sure if this should be reported as an Evolution bug or a bogofilter one. I installed bogofilter in my laptop (with a fresh install of Edgy) in order to use it with Evolution. I don't know exactly how, I ended up with bogofilter-sqlite, the sqlite version, whose binary is /usr/bin/bogofilter-sqlite. I spent hours trying to find out why on earth Evolution was ignoring bogofilter altogether (i.e., mi ~/.bogofilter/wordlist.db won't be touched even when I marked mail as junk manually), until I found out running Evolution from the command line that it was expecting to find "/usr/bin/bogofilter". I made a link from bogofilter-sqlite to bogofilter and everything seems to work, but: - Evolution should inform with an alert, warning or something that a regular user can see that a file is not being found, instead of failing silently; - Either Evolution's bogofilter plugin should be smarter about which program to run (i.e., it should know that bogofilter-sqlite exists), or if bogofilter-sqlite is meant to be a replacement for bogofilter, the installer should create the corresponding link (actually, I can do "man bogofilter" but not "man bogofilter-sqlite" for instance, so it seems that not putting a link from bogofilter-sqlite to bogofilter is a bug anyway) ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Bogofilter plugin doesn't work with bogofilter-sqlite https://launchpad.net/bugs/81581 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
