[Bug 397980] Re: evolution deletes all e-mails in a folder after renaming
I can confirm this bug in Evolution 2.26.1 on Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope. The following procedure consistently triggers the bug: (1) Create a subfolder in Inbox (2) Copy several messages into the new folder (3) Rename the folder (4) Delete a single email from the renamed folder Expected Result: One email has been deleted from the folder. Observed Result: All except one email have been deleted from the folder. The remaining email is usually the newest one. Note that the emails are simply gone, they don't show up in Trash either. Importance: CRITICAL. rant I lost 7.5 years of university-related emails yesterday, due to this bug. Gone. Everything. Because I decided to rename a folder. I've never been so happy that I keep regular backups. There's no way that this bug is of medium importance. Further Information: If you do the following: (1) Copy several emails into a subfolder of Inbox (2) Rename the folder (3) Chose File-Backup Settings (4) Restart Evolution At this point, the emails are still there. Now, (5) Chose File-Restore Settings and restore from the archive created in step (4) (6) Delete a single email from the renamed folder Result: This will trigger the bug and delete all but the newest email from the folder. [Bug 97520] Re: In Feisty Fawn, Gaim fails to autoconnect to ICQ account on startup
Removing the packages network-manager and network-manager-gnome is a workaround for this bug. It's also a workaround for bug #97557, evolution not remembering offline/online mode from the last session. I don't consider it a fix for either bug. System Monitor says the network-manager process was sleeping. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by is it connected. I had a working dial- up connection (an ISDN connection using CAPI, actually) but it seems NetworkManager doesn't see it. -- In Feisty Fawn, Gaim fails to autoconnect to ICQ account on startup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/97520 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gaim in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 97557] Re: In Feisty, Evolution doesn't remember online/offline mode
No, removing the packages network-manager and network-manager-gnome is a workaround for this bug. It's also a workaround for bug #97520, Gaim being unable to autoconnect on startup. Of course it's not a fix for either bug. I'm using a Fritz!X USB ISDN card, with CAPI4Linux and the fxusb driver, if that is of any interest to you. I'm not using the network-manager applet, because it is of no use to me. I cant use it to start a connection and it doesn't see active connections, anyway. I manually connect using pon and poff (because of bug #85469, dial-on-demand not working in Feisty). [Bug 97520] In Feisty Fawn, Gaim fails to autoconnect to ICQ account on startup

[Bug 41458] Re: No DVD icon in Places Computer and Desktop when mounted
I can confirm that this bug is still present in Feisty Fawn. Some observations: (1) When the DVD drive is empty and the lid is closed, a DVD icon is shown in Computer. This is expected behaviour. But there's no way to open the lid from Computer: Right clicking on DVD drive and selecting eject yields a dialog box that tells me Unable to mount media. There is probably no media in the drive. Sure there isn't. But I didn't want to mount the drive, i wanted to open the lid. eject /dev/hdc works. So does hardware eject. (2) When I insert a movie DVD and close the lid, the DVD is automatically played with Totem. Again, this is expected bahaviour. However, the DVD icon in Computer disappears. Moreover, hardware eject does no longer work, presumably because there is a mounted DVD in the drive. So, no other way to reopen the lid but eject /dev/hdc. (3) In case 2, when I double click on the CD-RW drive icon in Computer (my CD-RW drive is different from my DVD drive), the DVD drive icon reappears. However, both the eject and mount options in the DVD icons's context menu yield the same dialog box mentioned above: Unable to mount media. There is probably no media in the drive. Heck, sure there's a media in the drive, Totem is currently playing it (however, exiting Totem before trying this doesn't change anything). But again, I didn't want to mount it, I wanted to eject it. Hardware eject still doesn't work, like in case 2. So, I'm still stuck with eject /dev/hdc to reopen the lid. (4) In each case, there is no DVD icon on the desktop. This is expected in case 1, and partly so in case 2, because there is no icon in Computer either (but there should be, both in Computer and on the desktop). But even in case 3, after double clicking on the CD-RW icon, when the DVD icon reappeared in Computer, there is still no DVD icon on my Desktop. It seems that nautilus' behaviour concerning when to show a DVD icon in Computer, or on the desktop, and its behaviour concerning the eject option of the DVD icon's context menu (when it is shown at all), are utterly broken on my machine. -- No DVD icon in Places Computer and Desktop when mounted https://launchpad.net/bugs/41458 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 85461] No shutdown option in Feisty's system menu despite /apps/panel/global/upstream_session being set to true
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-menus I dislike Ubuntu's logout dialog and use GNOME's logout dialogs by setting the GConf-key /apps/panel/global/upstream-session to true. This has the effect that I have two entries in GNOME's System menu: A Logout entry and a Shutdown entry. I don't know the exact english titles of these menu entries since I'm using the german language pack. This has always worked well, but some days ago, after an update to Feisty, the Shutdown menu item is no longer displayed, even though the GConf-key is still set to true. To shutdown/restart the machine, I have to use the Log out item first and then use the shutdown/restart option in GDM. This is clearly subotimal to the former state. I'm not absolutely sure which update removed the Shutdown item, but i think it was the same one that replaced the Preferences and Administration menu items with the Control Center item. By the way, the same thing happens when using XGL in Ubuntu Edgy: No Shutdown option in the menu. I don't know if the two observations have a common cause. I don't use XGL in Feisty, so the bug outlined above seems unrelated to XGL. ** Affects: gnome-menus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- No shutdown option in Feisty's system menu despite /apps/panel/global/upstream_session being set to true https://launchpad.net/bugs/85461 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
