[Bug 1286002] Re: rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in gdk_window_has_impl()
After backing up and deleting ~/.cache/rhythmbox and ~/.local/share/rhythmbox, then changing the location of my music library to a directory that doesn't exist, then restarting RB I can still get RB to crash when the CoverArt plugins are enabled, after a lot of random mousing around and clicking the CoverArt source however. Nothing in particular is printed to the console on the crash and I can't seem to make it crash when the plugins are disabled with an empty library. Backtraces looks like this: #0 0x73118952 in ?? [Bug 650749] Re: Rhythmbox exits without being asked to when the window is closed
It is inconsistent with document-based applications like OO.o, but is consistent with other desktop services and applications that have some sort of status/notification/indicator icon. IM, microblogging, other music players, email clients, bluetooth, the network, are all examples of this - they all remain running, even when their windows are closed. Rhythmbox itself is an example as well, except that it spontainously exits when it finally stops playing. RB's current behaviour is quite inconsistent with the behaviour of other desktop services, and as such is both surprising and annoying. -- Rhythmbox exits without being asked to when the window is closed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/650749 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 650749] [NEW] Rhythmbox exits without being asked to when the window is closed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox In Lucid, if the RB window is closed it would remain running in the background. This seems to have changed in Meerkat, sometimes it does, sometimes it does not, depending on if any music is playing, I think. This, frankly, sucks. There is a lot of state in the RB UI that does not get persisted across restarts - search box contents, current selections in the browser, the show/hide state of the Context plugin's pane. All of this is lost when RB exits. Also, startup is non-instantaenous. With a reaonably large library, I'm waiting 5-10s for RB to become usable after it starts. [Bug 650784] [NEW] epiphany UI constantly stops reponding for periods of time
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: epiphany-browser Epiphany has started to periodically stop reponding to user input - the UI becomes unresponsive (page loads pause, change tabs, enter text into forms, etc.) for 2-5 seconds at a time, then starts responding for around the same time, then stops again. While it is unresponsive, the browser process is using 100% of a CPU core. When it start responding again, CPU usage drops right back off. Other applications work fine while Ephy is frozen. This starts happening after it has been running for a while but seems to get worse as time progresses, so perhaps the problem is always there but unnoticable after first starting the app. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: epiphany-browser 2.30.2-1ubuntu6 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.33-generic 2.6.35.4 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Sep 29 12:43:45 2010 ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_AU.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: epiphany-browser ** Affects: epiphany-browser (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug maverick -- epiphany UI constantly stops reponding for periods of time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/650784 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to epiphany-browser in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 640954] [NEW] Play button not labelled in text-beside-icon toolbars
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox Since upgrading to Meekat, RB's toolbar Play button has lost its is- important property, so it appears as an icon only (without the “Play” label) in text-beside-icon mode, the default. This sucks, since it's clearly the most important button on the toolbar and it is now tiny. Being able to hit it quickly is important for being able to pause RB when distracted or in a hurry (say to answer the phone, or whatever), and that is now very hard to do. [Bug 219735] Re: Sleep not defined or settable in gnome-power-manager
This became a problem for me on upgrade to lucid - the machine started shuttdown when inactive for longer than the inactive period, rather than suspending. Looking into the problem, it seems the GConf key “/apps/gnome-power- manager/actions/sleep_type_battery” is set to hibernate, rather than suspend (as it previously was). There is no way of setting this configuration option (or sleep_type_ac) from the GPM preferences in lucid, leading to confusing behaviour. It seems that 2.28.1-0ubuntu5 may be responsible for the problem: gnome-power-manager (2.28.1-0ubuntu5) lucid; urgency=low * debian/gconf-defaults: remove default preference on /apps/gnome-power-manager/actions/sleep_type_battery (was set to nothing, however sleep_type_ac is suspend.). I'm using the same pango packages as Bremm. After adding a debug print statement to Pango, it seems I get the warning when it loads FreeSans Medium. This is set as my Application font in gnome-appearences-properties, which I guess explains why I see the warning whenever I run a GTK app. Is anyone else seeing this using FreeSans Medium? Note that the GNOME bug (347073) fixed one warning, but the warning being printed seems to be emitted from a different function (pango-ot- info.c:pango_ot_info_get_gpos) , so it's not really a regression and probably wants to be reported upstream. -- Pango-WARNING **: Error loading GPOS table https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/272281 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to pango1.0 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 89031] Re: List views start with too-narrow name column
I can confirm this is a problem in Herd 5 but not in Edgy and prior. -- List views start with too-narrow name column https://launchpad.net/bugs/89031 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 13727] Re: [network-admin] locations do not get saved correctly
I'm waiving my own flag here, but I think instant apply to the currently selected location is still the better way to go (see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=170663#c11). You avoid the extra buttons, the dialog acts exactly like every other Gnome preferences window and it is pretty obvious what is going on to the user. I can't think of any use case for upstream's concern with wanting to make some change to the current settings and not wanting to save it. Networks tend to be static things - once you set it up, you want to keep it like that and the settings rarely change later on. I'd be interested to know when this is likely to happen. If the DHCP dialog was cancellable, then having to switch to a profile to delete it might not be so bad. As an alternative, have a seperate UI for editing the list of profiles, as MacOSX does. -- [network-admin] locations do not get saved correctly https://launchpad.net/bugs/13727 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I would either select the blank location, create a new Train Station location if I was going to use it frequently, or if not, create a Roaming (or similar) location for this sort of situation before modifying anything. Why would I modify my settings for home when I'm at the train station? Again using MacOSX as an example, it by default has an Automatic location that just picks an available wireless network if enabled or wired ethernet if plugged in, and uses DHCP to get an address. That is much more useful than network-admin's current behaviour. Perhaps the blank location could be renamed to something similar to Automatic and provide some sane default behaviour, like use DHCP on ethernet if plugged in, else use DHCP on a wireless network if available. When network-admin tells the user Your location is set to this and lets them modify some network settings with that still visible, I think it is reasonable to expect that the user will assume they are modifying that location and not some random settings based on the visible location. Networks might be static but with a laptop you might from from a network to an another pretty often Would the user be more likely to be using NetworkManager in that case? DHCP cancel would be nice right. Another question is to know if people expect to have their network changed only because they are looking at the available profiles from the list True. I think the UI in X lets you add, duplicate, rename and delete locations, but not activate them from that particular UI. -- ✌ michael gratton, itinerant geek ✇ http://web.vee.net/ -- [network-admin] locations do not get saved correctly https://launchpad.net/bugs/13727 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
