[Bug 1313863] [NEW] totem-video-thumbnailer crashed with SIGSEGV in g_slice_alloc()

2014-04-28 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
Public bug reported:

When I open a folder with some video files, the Totem thumbnailer crashes and
only a part of the thumbnails are created.
The strange thing is that the video files are all of the same type.

For example I have a folder with 10 video files of this type:

- container: Matroska (mkv)
- video encoder: H.264
- audio encoder: AC-3 (ATSC A/52)

and the totem thumbnailer creates only 4 thumbnails, and for the other files
there is the default icon.
Previously I had Ubuntu 12.04 installed, and the Totem thumbnailer worked very
well with these same video files and all the others.

2012-03-11 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
I can confirm that the problem is still present. I have tried just now with my
Ubuntu 12.04 installed on Virtualbox.
I opened this bug 3 years ago, and I think that for a Precise release, it
would be amazing to have it eventually resolved :-)

[Bug 923749] Re: New push mouse offscreen feature really difficult to get

2012-02-07 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
I have the same problem as @ike.

I think that for the average user it's difficult to know what slowly
or quickly or pressure is correct. When you use a mouse or touchpad
pointer, it's anyway a virtual object on the screen, and we don't have
the physical feeling for pressure or whatever else. This behavior
has to be the seamless as possible.

I can confirm you that in the last days the issue is gone.
Perhaps an update of the theme is arrived, or something else that has resolved
the problem.

This bug for me can be closed. Thank you.

[Bug 923061] [NEW] The published files on Ubuntu One are not recognized in Nautilus

2012-01-28 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
Public bug reported:

I have noticed that, even if I have published a file on U1, in Nautilus the
option copy the web link is not available. I attach to this bug report a
screenshot to explain the issue.
As you can see, on the left of the screenshot I have a file published. On the
right of the screenshot I have the same file, locally on my disk, that should
have the option to copy the URL. But the option is grayed, as if the file is
not published.

[Bug 919698] [NEW] The Window of System Monitor is transparent like the panel

2012-01-21 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
Public bug reported:

After a recently update in Ubuntu 12.04 the window of the System Monitor
has the same transparency as the top panel. This is a problem because
the more the panel is transparent, the more the System Monitor is
difficult to read.

All other windows, as far as I have seen, have only the title bar with
the transparency.

I have attached a screenshot to show you the issue.

I don't know if this bug is really related to System Monitor, or to the
Ambiance Theme of Unity, but it's the only window affected.

2011-08-19 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
Before the last updates this never happened (with the last updates, for
example, we have received the kernel upgrade to version 2.6.32-34).

I can add to this bug report that if I click the tab System and after,
I click the tab Processes, the gnome-system-monitor freeze and don't
respond anymore. This is the only tab clic combination that has this
result. If I click on other tabs and then on Processes tab, gnome-
system-monitor closes immediately.

[Bug 628250] Re: Audio and video in video chat are not synchronized

2010-10-05 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
If this can help, I can say you in addition that I have tried the new Google
plugin for video chat within Gmail, and this one function very well: good image
quality, good audio, and especially perfect synchronization.
Important to say is that I have used the Google video chat with the same person
of the Empathy test above. I mean: same Ubuntu 10.04 OS, same PC, same adsl
internet connection, same location for both, and obviously same chat protocol.
So I think that we can exclude external factors that can influence audio and
video synchronization in Empathy.

[Bug 628250] [NEW] Audio and video in video chat are not synchronized

2010-09-01 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

When I use my gmail account to video-chat with another person that use his
gmail account (xmpp protocol), the audio and the video are not synchronized.
The audio stream is at right pace, but the video stream is always late. I hear

Hello Pedro,

I have followed the instructions for creating a backtrace with gdb.
All went well but at the moment of the nautilus crash, the Nautilus window
freeze, and even the ctrl+c in the gdb don't function anymore. So the
terminal is not responding. I'm sorry, but I'm able to send you only the
attached backtrace without the last commands (backtrace full, info registers,

[Bug 599773] Re: Remote desktop not refreshed when using desktop sharing

2010-07-16 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
Thank you swatspyder. Your workaround function well for me too.

If Computer A want to share his desktop and Computer B accept to share
it, then Computer A must disable, temporarily, all Compiz Visual
Effects.

I hope that new Compiz 0.9 and/or some work on vinagre will resolve this
bug in the future, because remote desktop sharing through Empathy is the
best solution: no more pain with firewall and router ports, or enabled
remote destkop option in the Preferences.

[Bug 599773] [NEW] Remote desktop not refreshed when using desktop sharing

2010-06-29 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

I'm trying to use the desktop sharing functionality in Empathy with two
gmail accounts.

Everything works fine until the appearance of the remote desktop on my PC. I
can move the mouse, and who is close to the remote PC confirm me that his mouse
moves following my mouse.
Unfortunately I don't see the refresh of the remote screen. I can work with the
mouse on the remote PC, but I don't receive the updated image of the screen.
When I accept to share the desktop, in vinagre I get only the first image, then

Public bug reported:

[Bug 458459] [NEW] PDF form fields are not displayed

2009-10-22 Thread Nicola Jelmorini

[Bug 395710] [NEW] Opening Places/Computer nautilus crash with Segmentation fault

2009-07-05 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Hi,

I use Ubuntu 9.04 64bit installed on my laptop. The gnome version is
2.26.1.

This morning I have used the Place/Computer menu item and immediately
nautilus crashed. I don't use often this option, so I can't say if this problem
is present from the beginning (fresh Ubuntu installation a month ago) or not.
So I have started nautilus again from a terminal and when I click on the
Computer icon on the toolbar, immediately nautilus crash with the following
message:

**

** (nautilus:5401): WARNING **: Unable to add monitor: Non supportato [eng =

Recently I have purchased a new Laptop and I have installed Ubuntu 9.04 64bit

I use Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid 32 bit on a laptop with DVD DL reader and

[Bug 206583] Re: System Monitor crashes when lowering nice value of process

2008-11-04 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
I use Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 32 bit and I have the same problem when trying to
kill a process that don't belong to my user.
For example if I try to kill a root process the system monitor exit and this is
the message in a terminal:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gnome-system-monitor

** (gnome-system-monitor:22558): WARNING **: SELinux was found but is
not enabled.

The program 'gnome-system-monitor' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 1274769 error_code 8 request_code 1 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

I have tried to move the .local folder in another place and in fact now the
url saved to the desktop open correctly in Firefox.
If I move again .local to his original place the problem is still present.

So the problem is somewhere in the .local folder. Now: where?
My .local folder contain these sub-folders:
- share
--- applications
--- desktop-directories
--- icons
--- locale
--- mime
--- parcellite
--- tracker
--- trash

Perhaps is the mime folder the right one to watch in?

function correctly).

So this bug is resolved.

[Bug 228978] Re: Web addresses saved on disk open in Gedit instead of Firefox

2008-09-03 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
Hi Sebastien,

me too I have to admit that this problem is very strange and confusing.
I have created a new user on the same PC and with this one the behaviour
is correct. Only with my main user the behaviour is wrong as I have
described above.

I really don't know what is wrong (mime type seem to be correct), but if
I drag and drop a web address from Firefox to my desktop, and after I
open the .desktop file created, is Gedit that open and not Firefox.

Sure, if I make a new installation of my system this problem will
disappear, so I don't know if it's correct to keep open this bug report.
It seem that no other user have the same.

[Bug 228978] [NEW] Web addresses saved on disk open in Gedit instead of Firefox

2008-05-10 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I'm using Ubuntu Hardy 32 bits.

I have discovered today that if I click on a web address saved to disk (a link
previously dragged out from Firefox), this is opened in the text editor Gedit
instead of Firefox.
I don't know if this is an issue due to recent updates (the last updates I have
made today 10 may 2008), but previously, always with Hardy, the web addresses
was opened correctly in Firefox.

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Low

 Status: Incomplete

[Bug 228978] Re: Web addresses saved on disk open in Gedit instead of Firefox

2008-05-10 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
In the General tab I can see these informations (I try to translate from
Italian as correct as possible):
-- Document type: HTML Document
-- MIME type: text/html

Then I see Symbols, Permissions and Annotations tabs

In the last Link tab I can see the URL of the web site

The file with the web link saved is a *.desktop file

[Bug 49631] Re: Copy text from a PDF document and paste it, display strange characters

2008-04-14 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
I have tried the same thing with Ubuntu Hardy and I can confirm that now
the problem is resolved.

With Gedit I have created two PDF files: one with the Print to file option,
and one with the PDF (cups-pdf) option
The first one is created by cairo 1.6.0 (http://cairographics.org)
The second by GPL Ghostscript 8.61

Both PDF files are now good. I have copied from both of them and pasted
in Gedit, and the text is perfect.

[Bug 114189] Feisty: Nautilus freeze when file properties is requested

2007-05-12 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

This issue happen only after a boot of my PC, the first time I want to see the
properties of a file (no matter the file type).
When I kill Nautilus, it restart, and after I don't have the problem anymore.

Step to reproduce:
1) boot the PC
2) right click on any file
== Nautilus freeze. The only thing I can do is to kill him.

During the freeze status, Nautilus create a nautilus-debug-log-txt
file. I attach this file to this bug report

As saying before, after Nautilus is restarted, the problem is no more
present.

[Bug 74426] Edgy: Firewire/IEEE1394 conflict with Synaptics Touchpad and Synaptics Pointstick

2007-04-17 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hi,

I use Ubuntu Edgy on my HP Compaq nw9440 laptop. This laptop offer a
Synaptics Touchpad (2 buttons) and a Synaptics Pointstick (3 buttons).

By chance I have discovered that when I want to use an external HD with
Firewire connection, this is in conflict with the Touchpad and the
Pointstick.

First situation (the laptop is turned off):
===
1) I turn on my laptop without external peripherals connected
2) I can use the Touchpad and the Pointstick normally without problems
3) now I connect an external HD with the Firewire/IEEE1394 cable and ... no
automounting happen. No way to mount the HD.

Second situation (the laptop is turned off)

1) I connect an external HD with the Firewire/IEEE1394 cable
2) I turn on my laptop
3) After login the external firewire HD is recognized and correctly
automounted. This time I can use the HD normally without problems.
4) The Touchpad function well, but is no more possible to inhibit the double
click
5) The Pointstick don't function at all. Only the buttons function, but the
Pointstick itself no more.

I believe that this is a conflict.
If I turn on my laptop with the HD connected, I can use it, but I have problems
with Synaptics hardware; to the contrary, if I turn on the laptop without the
HD connected, I can use Synaptics hardware, but the HD is not recognized.

This issue don't happen with the USB interface.

[Bug 71689] Re: Edgy: no audio for mp4 files

2006-11-28 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
Hi Kevin and Sebastien,

The MP4 video file that I have used to test this bug is very big (more than
300MB) and is downloadable via BitTorrent from this web page:
http://www.blender3d.com/cms/Conference_Movies.818.0.html
In particular my file can be downloaded with this torrent link:
http://www.blender3d.com/cms/fileadmin/bconf06/bc06-2010-02-ed.mp4.torrent

However, seeing that all mp4 video files produce the same bug, I have prepared
for you a web page where you can download a shorter MP4 video file. The link is
this one:
http://provosa.tripod.com/DOCS/pubblicare_files.html
and the file is Glow-Effect_1.mp4

Voilà.

[Bug 49498] With Evince I can't copy text out from PDF documents created with cups-pdf

2006-10-09 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
Public bug reported:

When I create PDF documents with the cups-pdf printer, after, I can't select
text and copy it out from the PDF itself.
The strange thing is that when I have installed the cups-pdf printer with the
gnome-cups-manager, I have printed the test page. In this case, and only in
this case, when I opened the pdf created in Evince I am able to copy the text
and paste it elsewhere.
The problem is that when I use the cups-pdf from other tools like gedit, I can
create PDF documents, but when I open it in Evince, I can't copy text out.
These documents are like protected from copying.

The step to reproduce are:
1) install cups-pdf
2) open gnome-cups-manager and install the new printer, then make a test
pressing the
Print a test page button
3) open in Evince the just created PDF document and try to copy the text
you are able to do
4) open gedit, write something, and choose to create a PDF with cups-pdf
5) open in Evince the PDF document just created and try to copy the text
you aren't able to do

** Affects: evince (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Unconfirmed

[Bug 55082] A podcast feed don't display the content list

2006-08-03 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
Public bug reported:

HI,

currently I use Rhythmbox 0.9.3.1 and I have a problem with one podcast
feed, and no problem with another.

I have added following two podcast feeds:
1) http://www.rtsi.ch/podcast/rss/Impulso_Web.cfm
2) http://ubuntuos.com/podcast/feed.xml

With the first feed I have no problem. Rhythmbox display correctly the list of
episodes.
With the secon feed I have the problem. Rhythmbox don't display the list of
episodes. It's like this feed is empty, but it's not true. I have used another
podder software http://perli.net/projekte/gpodder/;, and in this case both
feeds display correctly the list of episodes.

** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Untriaged
 Status: Unconfirmed
