[Bug 2018408] Re: Significant window drawing problems as VMware Workstation 17 guest.
Screenshots of example misbehavior. I had to redact many of them to upload here. If unredacted versions would be helpful, please let me know and we can arrange some non-public sharing. Many of the problems are transients and are difficult to capture in stills. ** Attachment added: "Screenshots ofexamples of misbehavior." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/2018408/+attachment/5671049/+files/visual_anomalies.zip -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2018408 Title: Significant window drawing problems as VMware Workstation 17 guest. [Bug 2018408] [NEW] Significant window drawing problems as VMware Workstation 17 guest.
Public bug reported: Possible the problem is in another package, but gnome-shell makes the most sense to me. Observed behavior - Windows frequently render with no grabbable frames, with misplaced black-boxes, "infinite mirror room" effects, z-fighting, etc. Will attempt to upload screenshots later. Problem is most pronounced in a Wayland session, but also exists in X11 session. System is unusable in this state. Expected Behavior - Windows and window decorations render correctly. Steps to reproduce - Install Ubuntu 23.04 as a guest in VMware Workstation (or player, likely) 17, using default settings on a Windows host. Other notes - Problem does not happen in KDE. Problem did not happen (that I recall) under 22.10. [Bug 300637] Re: autofill problem evolution enter breaks address
I just started seeing this behavior in the last few months in 9.10. Used Evo for years and never seen this before. I've created a screencast illustrating the problem, but since it potentially contains sensitive- ish information I'd rather not post it on the open internet. If a dev is interested in looking at it let me know, and I will send it to you. [Bug 300637] Re: autofill problem evolution enter breaks address
Ok, I re-recorded the screencast w/o the extra information and attached it. I type the first three letters of the email address, the auto-complete pops up and I hit TAB. Note the comma incorrectly inserted. In most cases, this results in email getting erroneously sent to someone who should not get it because the rest of the email address ends up getting interpolated by the mail server. I clear it out though, and then type jlm and hit TAB, and it works correctly the second time. This is repeatable with this address every time I open a new message. Where precisely the comma gets inserted seems to depend on how quickly I hit TAB. If I wait a few moments, it will sometimes be inserted later, in the middle of his surname. I've noticed this with a couple other recipients, but this one is repeatable every time. I have these contacts stored in the Ubuntu One couchDB. In fact, I only recall seeing this problem after I started using that. Let me know if there is more I can do! ** Attachment added: Screencast demonstrating incorrect behavior. http://launchpadlibrarian.net/40888626/out-1.ogv -- autofill problem evolution enter breaks address https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/300637 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 325515] Re: Rhythmbox fails to play a particular MP3
An example can be donwloaded from the URL above. I specifically did not attach it because it is unclear if redistribution is allowed. Attached is the debug output you asked for. However. When I tried to import / play that file this morning it worked. I am unaware of any updates that have happened. Since attempting to play the file failed initially, I restarted RB, but that did not help. Since then I have rebooted my computer twice, and now it works. Unless there is something interesting in the debug output, this should probably be closed invalid. I'm glad it's working, but I sure wish I knew why it failed yesterday :-\ ** Attachment added: rhythmbox-debug.txt http://launchpadlibrarian.net/22014958/rhythmbox-debug.txt -- Rhythmbox fails to play a particular MP3 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/325515 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 325515] [NEW] Rhythmbox fails to play a particular MP3
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox Intrepid, fully updated. RB 0.11.6 I have an MP3 that I just downloaded from http://www.clockworkquartet.com/music.php . The title is The Watch Maker's Apprentice. I have not attached the file because redistribution rights are not clear on the site. It fails to import and will not play. The error that RB reports is Problem Occurred without error being set. This is a bug in Rhythmbox or Gstreamer. The other file at that site, The Doctor's Wife, works fine. I had assumed it was an encoding problem, but the file plays fine in Totem and mplayer, and both totem and mplayer report sane values for ID3, time, etc... [Bug 206916] Re: Totem cannot play DVD
I have this same problem on Hardy 64-bit. I'm not sure if it is a libdvdread problem or a totem problem though. [Bug 196688] [NEW] GPM in Hardy seems to have a memory leak
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager I've been using Hardy on a new laptop for a few days and have run into a few bugs related to GPM. See #194719 for those details. Twice now I've also had GPM eat up RAM, to the point that the process was consuming all available (2GB) physical memory and was forcing stuff into swap. I don't know if this is related to the other bug I posted, but I'd call this critical, once it spirals out of control, it is quite difficult to recover from. Any pointers on how to debug this or provide useful information to the devs would be appreciated, I don't really know how to approach something like this. ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- GPM in Hardy seems to have a memory leak https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/196688 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 196124] [NEW] clock location timezone database is inaccurate
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel I've noticed at least one inaccuracy in the Location - timezone mapping in the new clock applet in Hardy. In my case, when one searches for Eugene, OR, it sets the timezone to Mountain time, when it should be Pacific time. I don't yet know where it gets this data. In any case, I guess you can download the .tar.gz and take a look around. I don't think the problem actually lies with the tzdata itself. That surely is where it gets the actual timezone information, but it does not seem to be where it gets the city database from. In my example above, Eugene does not appear anywhere in the tzdata information that I can see. However, using the location setup in the clock, there is another database of cities somewhere, including latitude and longitude information for the city. This information is (apparently) used to determine the timezone that the city is in. This is where this bug appears. At least for Eugene, it is erroneously placed into the Mountain time zone, not Pacific where it belongs. -- -Regards- -Quentin Hartman- -- clock location timezone database is inaccurate https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/196124 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
