[Bug 433651] Re: Chat window grows beyond screen bounds - no text wrap when typing in the message entry
** Changed in: empathy (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released = Triaged ** Description changed: Binary package hint: empathy + + Issue still present in Oneiric. In Karmic, Lucid Maverick, the text ~does not~ wrap when typing text in a chat window. Instead, the window grows. This has been noticed in both IRC and XMPP (Jabber), possibly others. It would be nice if the text wrapped. :-) POSSIBLE WORKAROUNDS: * Resizing the contact list to a big enough size to prevent the expansion. * Text wrap may work if the room contact list is disabled (uncheck Conversation Show contactlist). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/433651 Title: Chat window grows beyond screen bounds - no text wrap when typing in the message entry To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/empathy/+bug/433651/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 744228] Re: evolution - Unexpected response from IMAP server: MIME-Version: 1.0
Hi Mathieu, If I click on the offending message, then another, and then back, it doesn't change anything, it still will not display the message and re-errors. It looks as if evolution is stuck on downloading the one email, but will not grab any others since the erroring one is in some kind of download queue. I only use IMAP, so not sure about IMAP+. I have since manually went into gmail via the website and sorted through the emails that were there, so not sure which email is was that caused the error. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/744228 Title: evolution - Unexpected response from IMAP server: MIME-Version: 1.0 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 744228] Re: evolution - Unexpected response from IMAP server: MIME-Version: 1.0
I have tried IMAP+ and it seems more responsive than IMAP, but unable to reproduce the error, as the offending email was deleted from the gmail website, although I'm not sure which one it would've been. I'm taking an educated guess that it could have been something from Debian, perhaps a malformed email or something - I did see Debian in the error dialogue box that came up before this one but can't remember exactly what it was. Please don't ask me to sift through the emails from Debian! [Bug 688858] Re: Moving the panel renders the computer useless unrepairable !
Hi clemm17, It appears that the previous triager did not understand your bug report. Sorry about that. Am I right in thinking that the resolution changed *because* of the game, and that you then had to move panels around to do stuff, and that in doing that, the panels moved to the same place i.e. over the top of each other, making them useless? I think I have that right, correct me if I'm wrong. If this is still a problem for you, it would be great if you could test this with the Live CD of the development release - Natty Narwhal. [Bug 582570] Re: VERY slow boot, no battery icon in panel
Things like webcams not working, etc should be filed separately. In fact, each issue should be filed separately for ease and to avoid confusion. If you think they are related you can always say in the other bug report something like this could be related to bug 582570 or something along those lines. For some reason the 10.10 Live CD also hangs for me first time around, but a reboot fixes it, so it's nothing to worry about and is not related (or unlikely to be). So from what I gather in comment #29, the system appeared to boot fine? If you could try a few times, from a cold state (i.e. power down completely, plug on/off), and from a reboot that would give a better overall 'feel' for if it is fixed or not, but this does sound promising. :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/582570 Title: VERY slow boot, no battery icon in panel -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

All of these comments would be better suited for the GNOME upstream bug tracker https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=596923. If you have any actual information that can assist in the development and/or fix of this bug, please send it there. Further general discussion or chat should be left to the appropriate mailing lists or ubuntu IRC channels. Please bear in mind that EVERY single message (useful or not) gets sent to those subscribed and those from duplicates (300+). So please keep any further messages to a bare minimum unless you can help. We know what this looks like and pretty much covered how to reproduce it. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but 300+ people will not be happy being bombarded by useless messages (I'm looking at the last two posters). Re: [Bug 439448] Re: Visual corruption affecting several panel applets
Based on comments on the upstream bug, and the previous comment here, it is really is beginning to look like a race condition. This could happen if the gnome-panel is completely drawn before it should be, i.e. things are still being loaded in which may be causing the corruption. Is there a chance that we can have something in a ppa to test this and add something to the code like WAIT=10 seconds or something along those lines? [Bug 559532] Re: empathy does not make any sounds when set to
No that's not it. Sending and receiving messages, connecting, disconnecting... all of the sound options are set in empathy and still nothing, even unchecked the disable sounds while busy or away - and still nothing. The volume level of message-new-instant.ogg seems fine on my laptop speakers, but then the sound is right next to me, and it makes no difference. The sounds simply are not being played. ** Summary changed: - [lucid] empathy does not make any sounds when set to + empathy does not make any sounds when set to -- empathy does not make any sounds when set to https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/559532 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

No, it's Ubuntu specific so far. Linux Mint is heavily based on Ubuntu, which is probably the reason why both are affected, so it is still a problem in Ubuntu only. Quick sidenote to the above. Your hard drive install and data will be fine as long as you don't install the CD or do something out of the ordinary, i.e. poking around your HD partitions. Just had a thought... the reason no-one is able to grab these crashes with apport is because it is disabled when a release has been, well...released (I should have thought of this). If you want to enable it for one session you can do sudo service apport start force_start=1 and try to reproduce the crash. Thank you for the update. Is there any output in the terminal at all when you run the games? If so can you attach a file containing the output, i.e. copy and paste it into a new file. If not, I see no other option than to ask you to get a backtrace. Full instructions on how to do this are at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace. You will need debugging symbols installed to do this, and instructions for that are at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash. Hope this is able to help you track down the problem.
