[Bug 559106] Re: Appearance Properties hangs on Keep Settings dialog without compiz(-gnome) installed

2010-04-09 Thread Thomas Lauckner
compiz-gnome version 1:0.8.4-0ubuntu15 is in the archives now (also see
LP:559054). I assume this resolved the Breaks in metacity. IMHO there
should be a script (or lock) on the servers which prevents such
problems.

[Bug 158164] Re: Fast user switch - logging in second user red-lines CPU

2009-09-11 Thread Thomas Lauckner
Im running into a similar issue on karmic:

While logged in as the first user, everything - even desktop effects - runs
fine.
Then switching to the second user via fast-user-switch, the system crawls down:
start firefox and scroll down a large page. It will take a while.

htop reports that the CPU-usage of the X server for the second user (X
:1) goes up to (almost) 100%.

This problem seems to be independent of the usage of desktop effects.

[Bug 426112] Re: Ordner MUELL läßt sich nicht leeren bzw. loeschen

2009-09-08 Thread Thomas Lauckner
I'm trying to translate it (freely, not word-by-word):

===
Binary package hint: evolution

Spam and unimportant mail needs to be deleted all the time and is
forwarded to the trash-folder [called "Müll" in German]. This folder has
to be emptied from time to time.

This function has always been stable.

Now, the content of the trash-folder is not emptied, which is confirmed
by an error message.

First, this error occurred irregularly ["sometimes"] - now it's
completely impossible to empty the trash folder.

Could it be due to the fact that the number of recieved emails (as a
whole, not just the deleted ones) raised?

Couldn't the developers use a configurable overflow-function to keep older
mails in a special directory so that they appear only at special search
functions - like an archive in the cellar?
===

I see two different topics in there: First, there seems to be a problem
with the deletion of the trash folder (which could either be a bug or a
user error) and second, something for the wishlist.

** Summary changed:

- Ordner MUELL läßt sich nicht leeren bzw. loeschen
+ Trash folder can neither be emptied not deleted

[Bug 425958] Re: Umlaute werden im Text ausgelassen

2009-09-08 Thread Thomas Lauckner
I'm trying to translate this onw (freely, not word-by-word):
===

[...]
In evolution, the german "umlauts" are not displayed" correctly - the
characters are missing and the text closes ranks.

I'm trying to configure something, but I don't have enough knowledge to do
accomplish this.
===
1. I don't see this as a "question" because I also ran into a similar problem a
while ago in jaunty. By default, evolution did not display the german umlauts
correctly. I can't remember having this problem in karmic.
2. In my case, it was no big thing to correct this: I used the drop-down menu
"Ansicht->Zeichenkodierung" (could be "View->encoding" in english) and the
characters were correctly displayed afterwards.
3. IMHO, this bug describes a problem with the default encoding settings in
evolution.

"Administrator", please confirm if I'm right, post the output of
"lsb_release -r" and give the steps to reproduce this bug.

[Bug 425621] Re: evolution crashes when opening multiple notes

2009-09-07 Thread Thomas Lauckner
Thank you for your quick response. I need to clarify:

= apport doesn't report nothing relevant, but it _is_ activated. =
= Evolution does not crash, it hangs up. =

I'd really love to give you the valuable information given by apport,
but when evolution hangs up, it is grayed out (not responding) and even
after leaving the gray program alone for an hour or so, no corresponding
crash report can be found in /var/crash (There already were some inside.
To ensure it's the right one, I deleted the one having "evolution" in
it, rebooted and reproduced the hangup - with no result). I don't know
when a .crash file will be created, but this bug does not seem to
trigger apport.

[Bug 52029] Crash when using GPG-sign

2006-07-05 Thread Thomas Lauckner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution-plugins

Distribution: Ubuntu 6.10 (edgy)
Package: Evolution
Severity: major
Version: GNOME2.15.2 2.7.x
Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu
Synopsis: Crash when using GPG-sign
Bugzilla-Product: Evolution
Bugzilla-Component: Mailer
Bugzilla-Version: 2.7.x

Description of Problem:
When I try to send signed eMails w/ Evolution's GPG plugin, the program
crashes immediately.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Start New-Message-Window
2. Enter Details (Sender, Subject, Text)
3. Security -> PGP sign
4. click "Send"

Actual Results:
Evolution crashes.

Expected Results:
Sending of PGP/MIME signed Message

How often does this happen?
always.

Additional Information:
I'm using the Development version Evolution 2.7.3. So that's no
surprise. In the last (non-testing) versions, I sometimes had various
problems w/ the PGP plugin, perhaps it should be completely reviewed...
