[Bug 2067738] [NEW] Error on display
You have been subscribed to a public bug: error in the screen display, in the upper right corner of the screen is the button where I can turn off, lower or decrease the sound or change my internet network, this is working, but below this button, there are the close the page and minimize buttons , but I can't click on a certain area, for example in Google Chrome, I can't click on the close, minimize, settings, or change user buttons, the icon is there, but it's like it's not clickable, this happens in all apps, when it's full screen 1920x1080, I can't click on anything in the top right corner. The only way to click on these icons is by dragging the app or browser to the left side or center of the screen, but this makes it impossible for the user, every time they want to change something on the tab, they have to drag it to the left side or center. , it's as if the top right corner doesn't exist, this only happens in 1920x1080 resolution, in a lower one I can click normally, but it's a very bad image ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 24.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+23ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 6.8.0-31.31-generic 6.8.1 Uname: Linux 6.8.0-31-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_modeset nvidia .proc.driver.nvidia.capabilities.gpu0: Error: path was not a regular file. .proc.driver.nvidia.capabilities.mig: Error: path was not a regular file. .proc.driver.nvidia.gpus..01.00.0: Error: path was not a regular file. .proc.driver.nvidia.registry: Binary: "" .proc.driver.nvidia.suspend: suspend hibernate resume .proc.driver.nvidia.suspend_depth: default modeset uvm .proc.driver.nvidia.version: NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 535.171.04 Tue Mar 19 20:30:00 UTC 2024 GCC version: ApportVersion: 2.28.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 BootLog: Error: [Errno 13] Permissão negada: '/var/log/boot.log' CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CompositorRunning: None CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Fri May 31 10:46:58 2024 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: noble DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: No GraphicsCard: NVIDIA Corporation TU117 [GeForce GTX 1650] [10de:1f82] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: NVIDIA Corporation TU117 [GeForce GTX 1650] [10de:1f82] InstallationDate: Installed on 2024-05-28 (3 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS "Noble Numbat" - Release amd64 (20240424) MachineType: BIOSTAR Group B450MH ProcEnviron: LANG=pt_BR.UTF-8 PATH=(custom, no user) SHELL=/bin/bash XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-6.8.0-31-generic root=UUID=f6ec41bd-58a6-4d7d-98a5-a12b191d1aa3 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 05/05/2022 dmi.bios.release: 5.17 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends International, LLC. dmi.bios.version: 5.17 dmi.board.asset.tag: None dmi.board.name: B450MH dmi.board.vendor: BIOSTAR Group dmi.chassis.asset.tag: None dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.chassis.vendor: BIOSTAR Group dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInternational,LLC.:bvr5.17:bd05/05/2022:br5.17:svnBIOSTARGroup:pnB450MH:pvr:rvnBIOSTARGroup:rnB450MH:rvr:cvnBIOSTARGroup:ct3:cvr:skuNone: dmi.product.family: None dmi.product.name: B450MH dmi.product.sku: None dmi.sys.vendor: BIOSTAR Group version.compiz: compiz N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.120-2build1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 24.0.5-1ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx N/A version.nvidia-graphics-drivers: nvidia-graphics-drivers-* N/A version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:21.1.12-1ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev N/A version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:22.0.0-1build1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917+git20210115-1build1 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.17-2build1 ** Affects: gnome-shell-extension-appindicator (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug noble ubuntu -- Error on display https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2067738 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell-extension-appindicator in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 2067657] [NEW] Mouse slowdown using trackpad
You have been subscribed to a public bug: when using for a bit the pc, under load but sporadically, the system slows down and appears to be some inertia to the pointer movement and the page scroll gestures, making impossible to perform precise point and click actions. With an external mouse does not happen, it happens only with the trackpad. My pc specs are quite high and i just changed thermal paste and in windows 10 it does not happen, so it's not an hardware issue. No LSB modules are available. [Bug 2067260] [NEW] Mouse mapping randomly temporarily changes after Ubuntu 24.04 upgrade
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I could not find an exact trigger yet, but from time to time the mapping of the mouse goes crazy in browsers (at least the standard Ubuntu snap Firefox package and a Rambox Debian package which, I assume, is based on Chromium): * the wheel starts acting as if it was mapped to previous/next shortcut (so same effect than alt right/left arrows) * the left click is... well, I'm not sure, but it's not left-click anymore (clicking a link on Firefox seems to have no effect other that noticing that the link is clicked) * not sure it's related to the mapping but another problem is that some "button" seems to end up producing a click event but is never released and in some case it ends up getting a bit crazy until I find a way to stop that (clicking the mouse button has no effect in that case) A workaround which works well is to start a new Firefox windows with Ctrl+N and close it. And this workaround also fixes other impacted applications, so I guess it's much more general than Firefox. Sorry for the lack of technical detail, but I have no idea what exactly is in charge of this or what to look at. But I would gladly check anything you want as it's quite a huge pain since the Upgrade to 24.04 as you can imagine. [Bug 2067214] [NEW] Night Light not working
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Night light is not working on a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 install. Nothing about the system was changed, enabling the night light was literally the first thing I did after the very first boot of the system. I set the schedule to manual and adjusted the "Times" option such that it would enable at the time of testing. The night light icon on the top bar shows up as expected. I'm including this information on the off-chance it is somehow relevant: during the Ubuntu 24.04 install procedure, I selected the Dark theme. The system correctly booted using the Dark theme. [Bug 2066516] [NEW] fractional scaling corrupts the monitors.xml file
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Ubuntu 22.04.4, gnome shell 42.9, wayland (per the "About" screen under Ubuntu settings). I have two monitors, I set the fractional scaling on each to be 125%. Each has a resolution of 1920 X 1080. On the left monitor, I have an icon on the desktop appearing in the middle of the monitor. I can move it around on that monitor, but: Something strange happens if I try to move it to one of the three rightmost "columns" of that left monitor. If I try to move it to one of those three rightmost columns on the left monitor, it ends up in one of the three leftmost columns of the right monitor. (But: Attempting to place an icon in one of the three leftmost columns of the right monitor does NOT place it in one of the three rightmost columns of the left monitor - In this case the icon stays on the right monitor where I intend for it to be.) Don't have this problem when the resolution is set at the default of 100% on each monitor. I have the resolution on each monitor to be 1920 X 1080. When I leave the fractional scaling - under the Ubuntu settings display option - at the default of 100%, in the monitors.xml file the x,y coordinates for the two monitors are exactly as I'd expect them to be: viz., 0,0 for the left monitor, and 1920,0 for the right monitor. However, when I change that fractional scaling setting from 100% to 125% on each monitor, and leave the resolution on each monitor at 1920 X 1080, the x,y coordinates automatically get changed to 0,0 and 1536,0. My simplistic understanding is that this change effectively makes the left monitor get cutoff at 1536 instead of at 1920, basically moving the rightmost 20% of that monitor's x dimension to be treated as part of the right monitor's x dimension. If I manually fix the x,y coordinates in the monitors.xml file, then at next reboot the fractional scaling is automatically reset to 100% on each monitor. I obviously do not understand the relationship between fractional scaling and monitor dimensions in the monitors.xml file. (Incidentally, in gnome tweaks under the font setting I have throughout all this left the scaling option at the default of 1.0. Don't know how, if at all, that interacts with the fractional scaling in the Ubuntu settings.) Why is this happening? How do I fix this problem? ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment -- fractional scaling corrupts the monitors.xml file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2066516 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1935083] [NEW] Universal Access / Magnification / Zoom tracking problem
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hi there. background: I have a visual disability so I use the zoom / magnifier feature. Problem: Firstly, if on a dialogue screen, for example settings, and you moved the mouse, to view another part of the box, t would snap back to the centre, it didn't seem to matter what tracking option I selected, it did the same. Expectation: I would expect the zoom area to remain focused on the mouse pointer, unless I hit a key if focused on a text box or other action button. Problem 2: Another is, when writing in a text box, say like this form, it will track to the top left of the screen for no good reason, meaning I have to find the mouse and pull it back again, it will not track back when hitting the keyboard, these are easy to reproduce and I've made short vids of this happening if that helps (let me know where to post them if it does help). Expectation: Here I would expect the magnifier to centre on the text cursor and move along with it, unless the mouse point is moved, then move back if a key is pressed again. Be great if we can get this bugs squished, let me know what information you need to help track this problem down. Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, Universal Access, Magnification turned on, sorry don't know the package name. Thanks. [Bug 2066074] [NEW] Backspace key above numberpad spams infinite backspace on a single press
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I'm guessing the bug is in gsd-keyboard, but I can't imagine it being from anywhere else. I have also submitted a bug report with the Mint team, where I found the bug, and so I will copy all the extra information from that report in a follow-up comment. 1) Ubuntu 24.04 LTS 2) I can't find a package version. I get variations on "N: Unable to locate package gsd-keyboard" 3) Should behave as an ordinary key, where a single press means a single action. 4) Behaved as if the key were held down, until pressing any other key ended the non-stop backspacing. Note that the ordinary backspace behaves as expected. More info will be added with additional comment.
