[Bug 44082] Re: GNOME Panel icons (on right side) move apparently randomly on session start in some situations
It seems the problem is gone in Natty Gnome Classic mode: In Natty the Indicator Applet Complete is used. It says An applet to hold all of the system indicators. This applet is a container which holds other applets. The good thing is, that the individual applets _cannot_ be moved but only the whole applet container! With this applet container it seems that this applet solves the problem with moving applets apparently around! This nice Indicator Applet Complete is avalaible in Lucid LTS, too. But I haven't tested it there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/44082 Title: GNOME Panel icons (on right side) move apparently randomly on session start in some situations To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-panel/+bug/44082/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 124536] Re: GDM login doesn't respect/stick the chosen locale
As far as I understand the bug, I can confirm it: I have german for GDM LOGIN screen. German is also the default for user sessions. Steps to reproduce: 1. Type your username and press Enter 2. Type your password 3. Now choose a language in GDM menu: Options Select language, for example in this case English USA 4. There pops up a dialog which asks you if GDM LOGIN screen shall be restarted with new language setting. 5. Click on No because I want to keep german for my GDM LOGIN screen. 6. Then there pops up another dialog which asks you if you want to make the new language setting the default for your GNOME SESSION 7. Click on Make default because I want to have my GNOME SESSION in english 8. Log out of your Gnome session 9. GDM LOGIN screen still has german as language what's correct 10. Now login to your Gnome session with same user from step 1 Results: After logging in Gnome again, german is the language for the GNOME SESSION which is WRONG, because I want to have ghe GNOME SESSION in english! [Bug 126719] Re: GDM does not kill resistant user processes after logout
For me this is not a whishlist but a BUG. GDM 2.20 is out and nothing happened upstream. Please add an entry to GDM script that kills user processes. It's very annoying to have many resistant processes running around after logging out or killing X server. I'm not sure but they maybe interfere with each other, if same user logs in again!? I think Gnome session manager for example can collide if there is already a running Gnome session manager. In my point of view this session manager is not very reliable and if there is another one still running there might be problems. Here sometimes session manager even does not start correctly after a FRESH system startup. What about computers where lots of people logout and login again many times a day? There you have lots of resistant processes staying in memory which is not a good thing in my point of view. They are also using memory and in case of Tracker staying in memory, it maybe even still use CPU. -- GDM does not kill resistant user processes after logout https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/126719 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 127504] Window list applet size does not maximize
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel Gutsy Tribe-2 + current updates: Please describe the problem: Window list applet size does not maximize, even if there is free room on the panel which could be used for maximizing window list (see attached screenshot). Steps to reproduce: 1. Add window list applet to your panel 2. Add for example drivemount applet right beside it 3. Add system notification area right beside drivemount applet 4. Open about 10 different (!) applications so that you have many shown in window list applet 5. Open for example banshee and rhythmbox that there are two more icons in notification area and drivemount applet is automatically moved a bit to the left 6. Close banshee and rhythmbox so that notification area applet is resized a bit to the right Actual results: Window list applet does not maximize automatically so that drivemount applet is NOT moved a bit to the right. That means there will remain empty unused space which should be used by window list applet. This happens whether drivemount applet is located left from notification area or the other way round. [Bug 40340] Re: Drivemount applet shows my root and boot partition
Had a closer look which partitions are mounted under /boot and /1 - these are /dev/hda1 and /dev/hda8 which are not the Dapper / and /boot partitions. This means that the Dapper / and /boot Partitions are NOT shown in the Drivemount applet - so I was wrong with that. But as I wrote in my initial post the behaviour of how Dapper shows mounted partitions changed between Flight versions. As far as I remember older Dapper Flights did not show partitions like other root filesystem partitions in the drivemount applet... That made me wonder since they appeared in the applet and that's why I posted this report. But if this is your preferred way how Dapper shall show other mounted partitions everything is OK and this bug report is invalid. -- Drivemount applet shows my root and boot partition https://launchpad.net/bugs/40340 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 42391] Wish: Start items in drawer applet with one click
Public bug reported: Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: The behaviour of the drawer panel applet needs 2 clicks at the moment to start items in it. This is one click too much. In earlier versions you could click on the drawer panel icon, move the mouse over the item you wanna start and release the mouse button. But if you press for example 20 times cursor right, this small black rectangle gets lost and you're not able to navigate through the panel any more. One has my desktop and window switcher and the other has application menu, icons etc. After logging out and logging in again the panels are gone and there pops up an error message with sth. like: There is already running one panel... I can press only the OK button and will be left with a blank desktop without any panels. My guess is that it is GConf related cause there all settings are stored!? And this is not the first time that I have troubles with Gnome loading my settings. Seems GConf is VERY vulnerable to getting screwed up... I'd like to attach my zipped .gconf2 directory but I can't find an option here in Malone to attach sth. to a bug report... -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
