[Bug 1154049] Re: Crashes with GLib-GIO-CRITICAL. UnknownMethod: Method DescribeAll
Same thing happening here. I can't get any of the parts of seahorse to work with one another at all. Initially, if I just boot up and then try to sign or encrypt a file using the seahorse nautilus plugin, I see the dialogue to choose which key to sign with, but then nothing happens. I check and see that seahorse-daemon is running. If I try to run seahorse (the Passwords and Keys dialogue), nothing happens. If I kill the seahorse-daemon, seahorse will open, but then I no keys are found if I try to use the Nautilus plugin. It says it will now I try to run seahorse-daemon again and get the error message: No encryption keys were found with which to perform the operation you requested. The program Passwords and Encryption Keys will now be started so that you may either create a key or import one. But actually nothing happens. Now, if I try to run seahorse-daemon manually, I get the following message: ** (seahorse-daemon:18267): WARNING **: Could not load desktop file '/usr/share/gnome/autostart/seahorse-daemon.desktop': No such file or directory So it seems it's only possible to use gnupg on Ubuntu now through the command line. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to seahorse in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1154049 Title: Crashes with GLib-GIO-CRITICAL. [Bug 1131099] Re: Can not edit or add new bookmarks/places to nautilus
Ah, I'm glad to see there is a way (the cog) to add bookmarks. If this is how it is by design, it still seems like a HUGE usability issue that you have to Google around to figure out how to add a bookmark, whereas in the past there were a number of more intuitive ways to do it (drag drop, right click, menu option). [Bug 982259] [NEW] Adjust window shoots off the screen when adjustments are made
Public bug reported: After upgrading to Precise, whenever I try to adjust a photo using the Adjust the photo's color and tone dialog, whenever I adjust one of the sliders or the white and black points on the histogram and then release the mouse button, the dialog window goes shooting to the lower-right corner of the screen, and if I move my mouse back to the upper-left, the window moves back into the screen as if I'm dragging it, but the hand icon representing the pointer is way off to the upper-left of the dialog window, and I have to push the mouse button once more to get it to release the adjust photo dialog window. Then I have to go drag it into a suitable position. If I attempt to make another adjustment, as soon as I release the mouse button this all happens again. (Details: serial 48 error_code 11 request_code 141 minor_code 19) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) [Bug 104664] [apport] gnome-panel crashed with SIGSEGV in strlen() after using the Run Application dialog
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel I encountered (and reported) this problem back, I think, when I was using Breezy. [Bug 42115] Re: Clicking on date in calendar applet open previous date in Evolution
This is probably a workable hack for the moment (that is, it's better than leaving it the way it is). But I still am at a loss as to why a calendar program that helps me organize my appointments in my local time and correctly reminds me of them insists on receiving GMT arguments and has no way to specify a date in my local time zone (or just a plain date without a time zone--after all, it's opening the whole day, not a time). I don't think such hacks should be necessary. Not having a way to specify a date according to the user's time zone is a bug. Evolution is designed to help people organize their daily tasks wherever they may live. Maybe this is an upstream issue that we have to hack around here, but I at least want to recognize that it's a bug. By the way, the Tongans I've known are not primitive and are as interested in using computers and organizing their schedules as I am, so I don't buy the idea that they should be excluded because of their time zone. -- Clicking on date in calendar applet open previous date in Evolution https://launchpad.net/bugs/42115 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 42115] Re: Clicking on date in calendar applet open previous date in Evolution
I agree with Sebastien. I don't care about the logic of what's happening behind the scenes (I'm not a hacker, I'm just a simple user) but with the fact that the interface doesn't do what it should do. Clicking on/typing a given date should open that date. Simple, right? How can you say that opening a date other than the one specified is not a bug? Are you saying that it's normal that everyone living west of London should have to click on the wrong date to open the right one? Please explain, I'm confused. -- Clicking on date in calendar applet open previous date in Evolution https://launchpad.net/bugs/42115 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 42115] Re: Clicking on date in calendar applet open previous date in Evolution
Yes, I understand your logic. I just think it's wrong. If Evolution can't handle a plain date as a sane user (not a logician) would expect it to, then it shouldn't allow a plain date argument in the first place. To give Thursday when one asks for Friday is a bug according to any human interface standards, regardless of the time zone or semantics. I agree that it should be changed in gnome-panel if Evolution won't fix this bug, but I'm not conceding that it's not a bug. Evolution should follow a logic that says if argument does not include a time, then return the date only, else if time is specified, return it in user's time zone (not GMT, etc.). Friday is not Thursday from the user's point of view, and this is a fact that Evolution (not end users) should handle. -- Clicking on date in calendar applet open previous date in Evolution https://launchpad.net/bugs/42115 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I really think a fork is in order here. I've heard dozens of people agreeing that this philosophy (as Linus says interface Nazis) is wrong, but only a couple fanatics who say you crybabies, real men don't even need GUIs, much less stupid screensavers or the right to choose how many cows they want bouncing on their screen! Just use Windows or KDE if you need configuration options! If you don't like options, don't use them. Maybe have an option to disable them. But I see no point in removing options just because someone has realized in a zen moment that options are for losers. I think most users are going to uninstall the debian-desktop package that depends on this package and install the xscreen-savers and not care about dbus and all that stuff. -- no 'Settings' button in gnome-screensaver https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/22007 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 32401] totem won't start with totem-xine engine
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32401 Comment: I'm having the same problem. When I try to start totem (totem-xine engine), the totem window appears for a split second then disappears, and I get this on the console: GTK Accessibility Module initialized Bonobo accessibility support initialized ** (totem:11392): WARNING **: Trying to connect to an older version of the GNOME screensaver The program 'totem' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'. (Details: serial 69 error_code 11 request_code 141 minor_code 19) I'm using all the currently updated Dapper packages, which I upgraded to today. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 22393] Keyboard shortcuts don't work with Rhythmbox

[Bug 22393] Keyboard shortcuts don't work with Rhythmbox
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/22393 Comment: I've retried this again a few times and here is the problem that remains: as soon as I assign a shortcut in the keyboard shortcuts configurator for Rhythmbox, the key becomes completely unusable (as described above), and can't even be used as the assigned shortcut (because gnome is expecting ctrl-alt-m but gets ctrl-alt-0xf4). But if I remove the shortcut (using backspace) and then restart gdm the key works again. I have worked around this by adding keyboard shortcuts in gconf-editor to trigger shell commands (rhythmbox --play-pause, etc.). -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 22393] Keyboard shortcuts don't work with Rhythmbox
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/22393 Comment: I don't know whether to submit this under the same bug or a new one, but I have the same problem with assigning shortcuts to Rhythmbox. I'm using Breezy i386 on an Acer 2300. Same thing: I tried assigning CtrlAlta to something and the a became unusable, and a is now mapped to something like 0x5f (some hexidecimal value). But the difference in my case is that while I can regain the a key through resetting defaults in the keyboard dialogue, when I restart X the key is gone again, so every time I start X I have to reset my keyboard defaults and reconfigure my international settings. I still haven't found a solution and have posted the problem to the forum. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
