[Bug 1814359] [NEW] Nvidia Driver 415 and lower prevents startup on 18.10

2019-02-01 Thread Viktor Szabo
Public bug reported:

drivers-390/+bug/1752053

Literally this been reported thousands of times and AFTER A YEAR of NO
FIX, it is still affecting users! Is this some sort of a joke? I spent
over a day re-installing and trying everything again just to result with
a constant boot error, and I can't get anywhere near the OS because it
is stuck on a purple screen. When the gub comes up it displays some key
is wrong error but I don't have encryption enabled, afterwards only the
_ is stuck on the screen without flashing. Can't we finally get the
graphics drivers some love here from Canonical somehow? This is highly
irritating already.

Yes, I was thinking about it before you answered. I tested RCtrl+RShift
combination, and it has no conflicts with hotkeys. There are possibility
of XKeyboard-config, I used it before a keyboard layout:
caps_switch_latch. It works when capslock pushed, but not released. I
just thinking, I am in a black room. But it cannot do anything with
hotkeys. I think, that problem is a miner-like. X-windows have messages
keypress and release, but in my opinion, it should be adopt all windows
manager. I will read the according X11 header files first, I promiss.
After that I come back again, could we step to an easy way or not.

The main keyword the KDE interface programming philosophy called Quick Time.
Windows use message queue, and uses built togheter windows manager with the os
hardly. Qt enables for programs override every reactions, "answered" the user
actions. Under xcfe desktop manager main program override subprograms actions,
for example, midnight commander is not closeable pressed f10 key, it override
the main window. KDE close midnight commander pressing f10 key.
Xkb layouts can not to do anything with this problem.

2018-06-08 Thread Kovács Viktor
I understand, that you must switch between Russian and English layout.
The programs uses latin-based hotkeys, I did understand. In my opinion,
in the future would be change, if the translator projects "translate"
the hotkeys, for example to cyrillyc letters, too. (then won't need
switches between layouts so frequently) We (Hungarians) will run into
that problems on the future, when we will want to write old Hungarian
texts. This is a runic-like right-to-left script. My question is, do you
use Windows yet, or you uses already only Linux? You can choose switcher
combination closely positioned with ctrl and shift. If you buy a new
laptop, it could be happen, that the keyboard metrics not exactly same
as on previous one.

[Bug 109376] Re: Width of the vertical preview pane isn't remembered

2016-10-25 Thread viktor
Hi to everyone, and sorry about my english.
I have ubuntu 16.04 and evolution 3.18.5.2, and the preview pane in classic or
vertical view, is really small, you can't even see the complete header with
that size!!, and there's no option to resize any section of evolution. The fix
that i found is go through dconf-editor in this path -> org -> gnome ->
evolution -> mail .Here's all the options of the program so , as i wanted the
vertical view, i change the hpaned-size parameter and hpaned-size-sub parameter
to the value 750, with a resolution of 1920x768 and font size 15 to mails, its
see pretty fine.
Cheers to everyone ;)

[Bug 1502603] [NEW] Nautilus crashes on monitor setup change

2015-10-04 Thread Viktor Pal
Public bug reported:

I use GNOME Flashback as a desktop environment where Nautilus provides
the desktop service.

Nautilus often crashes when I plug an external monitor on my computer or when I
remove an external monitor.
This happened to me several times on two different machines, my laptop and my
desktop computer.

I get the usual "Sorry, Ubuntu 15.04 has experienced an internal error."
message and I see that the icons from my desktop are not appearing until
I start nautilus again from the menu.

I have clicked on the send error report for the same bug in apport
several times.

I would expect Nautilus to "survive" and similar action without
problems.

[Bug 1426887] [NEW] Full screen app has a white stripe on top after switching to another window

2015-03-01 Thread Viktor Pal
Public bug reported:

To reproduce:
1.) Open VLC (or SMplayer or any app in fullscreen mode).
2.) Start watching a movie and go to fullscreen mode.
3.) Alt+tab to another open application
4.) Alt+tab back to VLC
After getting back to VLC you will see a white stripe on the top of the screen
as on the attached screenshot.

I have tried this with other applications like Firefox and the default video
player (Totem).
They produce a slightly different symptoms as they also have a white stripe on
the left of the screen besides the top, but I would bet it is the same bug.
In Totem the white stripes are also blinking a bit.

I'm attaching 2 screenshots.
1.) After starting VLC where everything is okay.
2.) After alt+tab ing with VLC where the white stripe is already displayed.

I'm using gnome-session-flashback (gnome-panel) with metacity.
I'm not sure which of them is responsible for this or if one of them even is
but they seem to be the best candidates.

I have also installed Xfce on the same machine and players started in
Xfce do not produce similar problems.

[Bug 1244087] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 Main Menu editor Problem

2014-03-15 Thread Viktor Mileikovskyi
I can not perform any editions. No moving, no folder creation. Starting
from a terminal causes only one message repeated twice:

(alacarte:13511): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_accel_label_set_accel_closure:
assertion 'gtk_accel_group_from_accel_closure (accel_closure) != NULL'
failed

And nothing else in terminal window. Tested on Ubuntu 13.10 X64 fresh
install and upgraded from 13.04.

The same problem in OpenSUSE discussed at
http://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/486011-Can-t-edit-menu-or-item-properties-in-Alacarte

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-10-21 Thread Viktor Suprun
Sebastien Bacher, bug #1220204 is not related to bug with updating keyboard
icon and selected keyboard layout.
I've install update of gnome-control-center from proposed repository and
restart the unity session, sets ctrl+shift for switching to next layout (I've
two kbd layouts, en and ru), and if I press ctrl+shift keyboard layout
switching to next (ru-en, en-ru) but icon and selected layout (in the menu of
keyboard indicator) has not updating. Bullet on left side of the layout name
remains on the English item, although what the layout actually selected.

[Bug 742516] Re: gimp-2.6 crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke()

2011-05-05 Thread Viktor Ferenczi
It is well possible that comment #19 above points out the real cause of
this problem, thanks to Frido Otten. GIMP seems to be unable to create
its configuration folder (~/.gimp-2.6) or the code looking for a
possibly existing configuration folder is crashing due to a coincidence
with another folder introduced in Ubuntu 11.04.

It would also be useful to figure out what is changed by just switch to
Raleigh and back, which worked for Onewing. A directory or another
object is created somewhere, possibly, which helps GIMP to avoid
executing the problematic case.

[Bug 548546] Re: Nautilus does not remove usb drive made with USB-Creator after unmounting it.

2011-04-04 Thread viktor
Reproduced today after using usb-creator to test an ubuntu-based distro
(elementary 0.1, based on maverick 32bit).

Request formatting of the ejected volume, listed in nautilus with the distro
name, prompts an error message
Error creating partition table: helper exited with exit code 1: BLKRRPART ioctl
failed for /dev/loop0: Invalid argument
but the ghost volume then disappears.
So this is another, if less clean, workaround.

[Bug 548546] Re: Nautilus does not remove usb drive made with USB-Creator after unmounting it.

2011-04-02 Thread viktor
I used usb-creator yesterday to try ubuntu 11.04-beta1 (32bit). After
successful creation of the bootable device I unmounted the volume and even
chose safely remove after.
After I removed the USB stick, Nautilus still displays /dev/loop0 as File 732MB
 (ubuntu-11.04-beta1-i386.iso).

Trying ti mount it then gives this fs driver error:
Error mounting: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/loop0,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
(could this be the IDE device where you in fact use
ide-scsi so that sr0 or sda or so is needed?)
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
   dmesg | tail or so

Workaround: checking it with gnome-disk-utility 2.30.1-1 returns the
volume as not safe, but makes it disappear at last.

Up-to-date Lucid 64bit here.

[Bug 666112] [NEW] Nautilus Location bar right arrow malfunctioning

2010-10-24 Thread Viktor Ilijasic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Nautilus 2.32.0

See screenshot. I'm not sure if this is pure nautilus bug or some plugin
I recently installed.

When I have long location (many directories depth) left and right arrows
beside location bar appear. Left arrow works as expected. Right arrow is
placed OVER the rightmost button and it is not functional. Clicking it
does nothing.

[Bug 661911] [NEW] Brightness Applet 2.32.0 not working with nvidia proprietary

Fresh install.

Brightness applet does nothing since I installed proprietary nvidia
drivers.

It would be nice if brightness applet detected that I am using
proprietary drivers and automagically set my brightness with an
appropriate program, eg. smartdimmer:

$ smartdimmer -h
NVClock SmartDimmer adjustment tool version 0.8b4.

Usage: smartdimmer [OPTION]...

Options:
-g --get Query brightness level.

-d --decrease Decrease brightness with one level.

[Bug 581759] [NEW] brasero column size problems

2010-05-17 Thread Viktor Ilijasic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

Hi,

This report is actually about two issues with brasero, which are both
related to column size(s).

1. Column sizes cannot be properly changed while making audio CDs. If
you have a short song title and a long artist name, you cannot make
artist column wider. Not very serious bug.

2. If you doubleclick the column separator, mouse pointer changes to
left-right arrow and you cannot click on anything AT ALL until you kill
brasero. This is a serious bug that might give the appearance of Ubuntu
being a bad/unstable OS, which we know not to be true. After you kill
brasero (press alt+f2, type in killall brasero, without quotes, press
enter), it all goes back to normal.

See attached screenshot.

[Bug 556311] Re: gnome-panel freeze on cascading contextual app-launcher menu

2010-04-28 Thread viktor
Reproduced today (Apr-27 up-to-date lucid amd64 RC).

This is really not an important bug, yet it may occur to curious people
exploring the linux desktop and thus give them a bad opinion. The panel
freezes, keyboard doesn't work with alt+F2 (should I file a specific bug
here?) so the user has to find a way to kill the panel processus.
Closing the session is the most direct way.

[Bug 556311] [NEW] gnome-panel freeze on cascading contextual app-launcher menu

2010-04-06 Thread viktor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I found this bug yesterday (up-to-date Lucid beta1 64bit) while right-
clicking to try and remove directly some apps from the Gnome panel
Applications menu (wishlist: menu-editor shortcut via contextual menu).

To reproduce:

1. Open the Applications menu
2. Open Graphics sub-menu (for instance, this is how I did and reproduced it
but suspect it can work with any)
3. Chose an app launcher - I chose Simple scanner - and right click for
contextual menu
4. Click so that one of the last contextual menus (i.e. adding a tray menu)
opens without highlighting either of the choices
5. wait for a couple of seconds with the whole cascading opened
(Appplications/Graphics/app context menu/add tray) and no final selection made

There it is, gnome-panel freezes. You can no longer use it. Logging out and
back in doesn't even restart it.
Very annoying: the Gnome Applications menu is frozen and always on top.

Very very annoying: Alt+F2 launches gnome-application-control (Launch
application) but it is frozen so most of the system is unusable unless
you can work around thru desktop documents/launchers.

I reproduced it again after a while (still after fiddling around with Simple
Scan).
I'll try to pintpoint what triggers this on my machine and try it with another
menu app-launcher.

Running apps: Firefox, Calculator, Transmission
Additionnal steps on the path to reproducing: going several times thru the 5
steps described, creating a panel launcher then removing it from panel.

It might be something in the dragdrop implementation in evolution. Especially
around the address book GUI controls and objects.

[Bug 497334] Re: I cannot copy or move contacts between Personal and Ubuntu One address books

2010-01-19 Thread Viktor
Hi!
Of course.
I have just tried to copy all of my local name cards into Ubuntu One and now it
was successful. Before this try I did not updated my couchdb package.

BUT

I completed a few more ad-hoc test cases and I could reproduce the error
partially.
1.) I have created an test name card in my local personal repository.
2.) After that I tried to dragdrop it into the Ubuntu One row in the left
side evolution panel.
3.) A pop-up window displayed and inform me that this record is a duplicate
(because I use a valid e-mail address in this test card)
4.) I clicked on the Add button.
5.) Nothing special happened (no display error message) but my name card was
not copied into Ubunto One repository.

I repeated the test case above some times and finally got an error
message with Error while adding the card... or similar. Screenshot is
attached.

[Bug 315162] Re: volume keys on different devices can't set different volume sliders

2009-12-30 Thread Viktor Ferenczi
I've the same problem with a Maxell MXL-1191-R USB wireless headphone.

The volume control buttons on this headphone (they are built into the
right speaker's case) work out of the box, but controls the device last
selected in the Output tab of the Sound Preferences dialog. So the
problem is with the selection of the device to control.

I can reproduce this problem, so you can contact me anytime if you have
a proposed fix to test or at least some pointers where can I look for
the issue in my system. I'm a developer, so I can even fix it if you
provide me with some insight into this subsystem.

Thank you in advance.

[Bug 423534] [NEW] Select sound output from gnome-volume-control-applet menu

2009-09-02 Thread Viktor Petrov
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

This is not a bug. Set it please to wishlist.

I've made some changes in gnome-media package for ease of switching the
sound output in cases where you have more than one sound output. Now
there is sub-menu in the gnome-volume-control-applet menu where you can
choose the current sound output. This is very useful if you have a
bluetooth headset. Menu will show up only when there is more than one
audio output devices.

I've contacted gnome-media maintainer Marc-André Lureau. He recommended me to
register it as a bug on bugzilla.gnome.org, which i did.
Bug:#593752
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=593752

Also he said that this will not be in the 2.28 because it is in UI/string
freeze.
Maybe it is possible to get it into Ubuntu karmic?

Attached patch file with changes made. Just get gnome-media source
package, drop patch into package's debian/pathces directory and build
it.

Here you can see how it looks in action:

Here you can take a ready-compiled packages for karmic:

[Bug 335320] Re: Evince unable to open zip/rar comic files

2009-05-27 Thread Viktor Kojouharov
@Pedro Villavicencio

This is kind of a late reply, but that logic seems a bit off. Evince
already has some way of determining whether a cb[z|r] can be opened or
not. If you rename a zip file that contains images to cbr (rar), it will
still open it. If you rename another type of file to cbz (or a zip file
without images in it), then it will display an error.

So what's the problem then? If evince just tries to open any zip files
as if they are cbz files, any current behaviour will still work without
any newly introduced regressions. If the zip file is not really a cbz,
it will throw an error just like it does now (which also proves that
there is some support for figuring out what exactly the file is). Maybe
this bug should be reopened.

[Bug 369683] [NEW] Void folders listed under local directories - IMAP related

2009-04-30 Thread viktor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I noticed the bug after I tried to add a second Gmail IMAP account.
There are the usual 7 local folders (Inbox, Trash, Spam...) + 6 void folders

Void, i.e. they don't really exist:
1. they are not labelled and right-click is inactive
2. selecting them doesn't bring up the message Empty/No message in the panel
unless the previously selected real local folder was itself Empty

Gmail IMAP brings 6 default folders in addition to Inbox: All Mail,
Drafts, Sent Mail, Spam, Starred, Trash. Trash is created, probably
because of a string translation issue (I'm using the French locale).
