This bug is probably related to xorg: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/commit/?id=3e6358ee6c33979329b78fe2097a1fdf76fb69cd (the symptoms described here are the same). I'm still unsure about why this patch isn't applyied, or how to apply it. Adding xorg-edgers to the ppa list doesn't solve the problem on Ubuntu 12.04. Why is importance set to low? Because of this bug, ubuntu 12 with touchscreen is a NOGO! BTW. maybe this has something to do with the: Coordinate Transformation Matrix Bug. Got perfectly the same bug here, running 12.04, gnome3 and eGalax touch screen.
