Nope, You can close it now. Thanks! I figured it out long ago as well. Sorry for being slow there. And just switching to a Korean keyboard layout is not supposed to be sufficient, is it? Btw, ibus-hangul is automatically installed if you install the Korean language. But doing so is not necessary; as you said you can install it via e.g. the Software Centre. So I take it there is no "Cannot type Korean characters" bug. Possibly there were a couple of misconceptions. On 2013-03-20 14:46, Floby wrote: > I also have this bug. I can do so now. If "Korean - Korean" is the only (or the topmost) input method in IBus Preferences, I can switch between them by typing + . > The problem seems to be caused by the chronic impossibility to remap > anything in Ubuntu + Unity. There is an interface in IBus Preferences for setting keyboard shortcuts. [Bug 1041887] Re: Cannot type Korean characters.
I also have this bug. I've used the korean keyboard in previous ubuntu releases with iBus. The korean layout is actually two keyboard layouts in one. The first one is similar to the english layout The second one is the hangul layout. I used to be able to switch between these two (still in the same korean ibus layout) with a key I mapped for that (Can't remember the name). The problem seems to be caused by the chronic impossibility to remap anything in Ubuntu + Unity. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1041887 Title: Cannot type Korean characters. What I meant was if one goes to language support, allows ibus as an input method, and install ibus-hangul from the software center, one can type in Korean. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1041887 Title: Cannot type Korean characters. Maybe from scratch, it isn't possible to type korean characters. But checking askubuntu does reveal some answers. The question is getting the keyboard from scratch. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1041887 Title: Cannot type Korean characters. my apologies, I thought it was a regression, but it wasn't.
