It seems that Gnome might be relying on Nautilus and its configuration options, but it does not help to those of us who switched to Nemo after Nautilus had been severely incapacitated. After many troubles with it and catalyst drivers, I finally decided to install MATE, this solved all my graphic problems, but this error remained. I'm burning all my DVDs with K3b, and every time I insert a blank DVD, there is a window that pops up saying unable to mount blank dvd. Clicking on OK, everything works, but after burning some 7-8 DVDs it really goes on my nerve (I sometimes forgot to close them, and they are scattered all over my workspaces, depending on where I was when I inserted blank DVD). I can turn them off by unticking automount in dconf-editor (for nautilus/caja), that solves the problem, but then my external hard/flash disks won't automount, which is unacceptable (I despise windows explorer/nautilus/caja/etc file managers, my choice for a long time is commander-style file manager, currently double commander). And without automount option, every time I attach a device, I need to start nautilus/caja to mount it. In k3b, the Start button is grayed-out. Not possible to burn a dvd. 2. Tested trying to burn ISO image that was smaller than 4.4Gb - at this point, the Burn and Start buttons in their respective programs were available. 3. The problem seems to be the size of the ISO being written or DVD original being copied (for backup/archive). HOWEVER, that makes absolutely no sense, given that the blank DVD is DL AND that I was able to both burn the 7.6GB ISO image and copy the original DVD on the SAME computer, SAME drive, SAME blank DVDs in a Windows-7 Ultimate VM running under Ubuntu Saucy 13.10-64Bit, again, SAME MACHINE. However, I agree with you that a fix should be given a high priority. I had this problem in Linux mint 14 but I'm now upgrading to Linux Mint 16. The error came back for me after using my fix above using dconf editor. Navigated to org/gnome/desktop/media-handling and unticked automount and automount-open. So I used dconf-editor again and used the search function and searched for auto. I found lots of matches but found that the auto-mount settings for Caja (Cinammon desktop) were causing the auto-mount warning/error even though I was using a Unity session. Same problem, when I insert a blank CD or DVD, I get that warning about it already being mounted. But, I can burn CD's or DVD's successfully, while ignoring it.
