However, they may not be related. I'm assuming it's the way GIMP allocates, or interacts, with system memory. No crashes/freezes, thanks to 8 GBytes of RAM most likely, but I have the exact same issue and the menus take forever to load and about an entire second to render. I also checked if it makes a difference if I'm editing a huge file or something blank. It doesn't seem that way. Same situation here. I have a rather powerful PC: QuadCore 3.2 GHz, 8GB Ram, Nvidia 1024 MB, 64bit system as well. The range goes from 3 second delay to 20 seconds and longer while showing fragments of other windows' menus. The whole problem seems to only inflict GIMP and I don't notice any influence on the rest of the system. Same here, it starts fast, but it degrades over time until the system becomes unusable and I have to restart. same here, too. Same here, on 13.10 64-bit.
