Note: 1474927, 1578830, and 1652451 all seem to refer to the same issue. Over a year old and no update? Is there any work around? I received this error shortly after upgraded Ubuntu 14.04 to 16.04. Then I had a hard drive failure and had to reinstall Ubuntu 16.04 from scratch, and the error went away. Then, after the first apt-get upgrade and reboot, the problem came back.
