As a workaround I have created the file
`~/.local/share/themes/Ambiance/gtk-3.0/gtk.css` which gives the active
tab a darker background color:

```
TerminalWindow .notebook tab.top:active {
   background-color: alpha(grey, 0.4);
}

@import url("file:///usr/share/themes/Ambiance/gtk-3.0/gtk.css");
```

Current tab highlight works on theme high contrast, other themes do show active 
tab, but with very thin lines
that its almost confusing wich tab, no colours
