I have a SATA drive as well and when trying to burn a DVD Data project, it just gets stuck on Writing cue sheet With no estimated speed or time remaining. It does not time out, so I can leave it all day and it will not progress or err. I have the same problem. It seems that wodim ist the problem... - so I have to change to cdrecord!
