[Bug 36427] Re: ftp connection:rigth click, open with - entry does not show possible actions

2006-04-03 Thread gebi
your right. that acroread didn't open is a another issue. file a bug for that ?
As possible actions as for a local file I meant that the same menu is show:
e.g. on a local file right click on a pdf gives a menu: first entry * open
with Adobe Reader, second entry * open with -: gives a
menu of alternatives as evince and xpdf.
This I meant with possible alternatives. The user can chose between apps for
the same mime type. on an ftp connection this does simply not work. first you
cannot define the alternatives and in addition when chosen one out the the
list of all apps., the file is not opened.

The screenshot doesn't match your description. You mentionned that it does not
show the list of possible actions as for a local file ... what action are on
expecting on your screenshot? Is the issue that acroread doesn't open the
selected pdf? where is the action that should be listed?

2006-03-31 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks for your bug. What file do you try to open? It lists the actions
possible, which are not the same as for the local system since all the apps
don't use gnome-vfs for opening

[Bug 36427] Re: ftp connection:rigth click, open with - entry does not show possible actions

2006-03-31 Thread gebi
sorry I was not precise enough.
with possible actions I meant it does not lists alternative programs of this
mine type.

here some screenshots:
I tried to open a pdf in a ftp connection. right click - open with other
Application - a window with possible programs is shown:
http://gebi.fastmail.fm/ftp1.png

clicking on acroread (evince has problems with this pdf - fonts !)
- it does not load:

http://gebi.fastmail.fm/ftp2.png

the same for native gnome-apps like gedit.
