[Bug 373851] Re: for FOLDER, "open with "gnome-terminal" DOES NOT do a "cd" to the FOLDER
Ubuntu 10.04LTS, when right-clicking on a folder, the context menu has the option "Open with gnome-terminal". Selecting this option opens a terminal to the login. This IS a valid bug because the behaviour is not as the user interface indicates. This bug may not be part of gnome- terminal but it is a gnome bug. Instead of merely calling it invalid, this bug should be assigned to whatever module is responsible for the erroneous behaviour. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/373851 Title: for FOLDER, "open with "gnome-terminal" DOES NOT do a "cd" to the FOLDER To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/373851/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thanks very much for the kind help, and sorry about SHOUTING. I suppose I want to distinguish technical words from English, but I'll stop doing it that way. [Bug 373851] Re: for FOLDER, "open with "gnome-terminal" DOES NOT do a "cd" to the FOLDER
You shouldn't use "open with" with terminal, it won't work like you want. If you have already Installed nautilus-open-terminal and restart nautilus, right click on a folder you'll see "Open in Terminal" or something like that, and it'll do what you want. PS; no need to use uppercase, I'm not blind and I can read lower case without problem, and uppercase is really to avoid, because following RFC 1855 [http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc1855] "UPPER CASE LOOKS AS IF YOU'RE SHOUTING.". Thanks. Re: [Bug 373851] Re: for FOLDER, "open with "gnome-terminal" DOES NOT do a "cd" to the FOLDER
The description is not clear? OK, let me try again. What I WANT is to locate a folder in the file system, and then RIGHT-CLICK "TERMINAL" and as a result find myself with a NEW TERMINAL WINDOW OPEN "at" the designated folder ("at" in the sense of "cd"). This is not what happens. Right-click on "terminal" merely opens a "terminal" window "at" "~".
