[Bug 442115] Re: Greeter always defaults to USA keyboard layout, ignoring system configuration
I have the same bug. Fresh install with the latest Karmic 9.10 build fixes the issue temporarily. I'm not sure but I believe this issue occurs after I install Wine on Ubuntu. -- Greeter always defaults to USA keyboard layout, ignoring system configuration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442115 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

there is no indication that many users are having that issue since there is no other bug about the issue I've also this bug. -- Greeter always defaults to USA keyboard layout, ignoring system configuration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442115 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 442115] Re: Greeter always defaults to USA keyboard layout, ignoring system configuration
I can confirm this as well; fresh install of Karmic on a new build, so it's not due to a misbehaving leftover conf file. -- Greeter always defaults to USA keyboard layout, ignoring system configuration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442115 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 442115] Re: Greeter always defaults to USA keyboard layout, ignoring system configuration
No luck I'm afraid. Deleting that file (even when making sure to do it whilst gdm is stopped) merely results in it being recreated with the same keymap settings when gdm next starts. -- Greeter always defaults to USA keyboard layout, ignoring system configuration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442115 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 442115] Re: Greeter always defaults to USA keyboard layout, ignoring system configuration
Hmm. I was going to dispute that this is of Low importance, but given the classification rules on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance, that is correct. Still, it's a pretty major wart in many people's first experience of Karmic ** Tags added: regression-potential -- Greeter always defaults to USA keyboard layout, ignoring system configuration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442115 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 442115] Re: Greeter always defaults to USA keyboard layout, ignoring system configuration
Could it be some leftover gconf settings from previous buggy gdm versions? Can you please remove/move aside /var/lib/gdm/.gconf/apps/gdm /simple-greeter/%gconf.xml and see whether it still happens? ** Changed in: gdm (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- Greeter always defaults to USA keyboard layout, ignoring system configuration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442115 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 442115] Re: Greeter always defaults to USA keyboard layout, ignoring system configuration
Can you please check if lshal has the correct layout? (input.xkb.layout). If you are unsure, please do lshal /tmp/hal.txt and attach /tmp/hal.txt here.
