[Bug 483541] Re: File-roller drag'n drop is unreliable
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 878993 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/878993 I don't think the duplicate status is wrong because the other bug is a lockup of the whole X, while this is only an error message. I also experiment this error message on Ubuntu 14.10. There is clearly a problem in the path that is shown in the error message. For example right now I got: “You don't have the right permissions to extract archives in the folder xds.txtules” The “xds.txt” part is always constant while the end “ules” is actually the end of the name of one of the parent folders (in this case, the 11th parent folder, which has a depth of 9 from / so its seems to be in the middle of the full path). I was unable to determine what would trigger this but for me it occurs currently once in 3 times. Another time in 3, the drag and drop simply does nothing (or at least there is no feedback) so in the in it seems to work only one third of the time… -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to file-roller in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/483541 Title: File-roller drag'n drop is unreliable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/file-roller/+bug/483541/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 483541] Re: File-roller drag'n drop is unreliable
This is happening to me on 11.10 with File Roller 3.2.1. I am getting am trying to drag and drop and I am getting: Extraction not performed You don't have the right permissions to extract archives in the folder file:///home/elijah/websites/loc.gitsite.gary.com/sites/all/modules/features/articles/xds.txtodules Not sure what to do but thought I would add it here. If I go up one level I can drag and drop and then drag the files/folders into the desired folder within Nautilus. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to file-roller in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/483541 Title: File-roller drag'n drop is unreliable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/file-roller/+bug/483541/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 483541] Re: File-roller drag'n drop is unreliable
This happens to me on Xubuntu Natty, dropping files to a Thunar window on a folder to which I have full permissions. I haven't yet found a pattern behind the failures. ** Changed in: file-roller (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to file-roller in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/483541 Title: File-roller drag'n drop is unreliable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/file-roller/+bug/483541/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 483541] Re: File-roller drag'n drop is unreliable
Can we open this bug? It happens to me every time I'm trying to drag n drop from File-Roller to my raid-5 volume mounted in /mnt/raid/Mamoth and linked on my desktop. step to reproduce : 1: download this file : http://download.blender.org/durian/score/Jan_Morgenstern-Sintel-MP3.zip 2: open it with File-Roller 3: select a file and drag-it into my raid volume 4: get the error : You don't have the right permissions to extract archives in the folder « file:///home/nevada/Bureau/Mamoth/Music/Jan%20Morgenstern/Elephant%20Dreams%20mp3/xds.txt » To extract the files I must use Fileextract and choose my folder. Maybe a right problem in my folders, but why the extract command work fine when the drag n drop don't ?
