[Bug 510938] Re: 2 Gig limit copying file from samba share.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of GVFS is available on Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with that version? Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: gvfs (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- 2 Gig limit copying file from samba share. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/510938 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 510938] Re: 2 Gig limit copying file from samba share.
Pedro, I did not test on Maverick as requested but the issue has been corrected elsewhere. I just transferred a 4.1gb file from the same OSX box that does have the complete line vfs objects = notify_kqueue,darwinacl,darwin_streams in the smb.conf file of OSX. The issue *may* have been corrected by the OSX 10.6.4 update or otherwise within 10.04.1 LTS. [Bug 510938] Re: 2 Gig limit copying file from samba share.
Thanks for doing all the research. I'm sorry for reporting a bug which in the end seems to be just an configuration isue. However it confuses me that manually mounting the share with lfs option also solves the problem. It was thereby that I was assuming the problem was a bug in gvfs. [Bug 510938] Re: 2 Gig limit copying file from samba share.
I just ran into the same 2 GB limit issue after performing a clean install of Ubuntu 10.04 and attempting to restore files from a OSX (Snow Leopard) share. The file that fails is 2.8 GB in size and gives an invalid argument error when reaching 2 GB. I did some testing to see if the issue is operating system dependent . Here's what I found : Host (share) | file transfer direction | Client | Result OSX (Snow Leopard) - Ubuntu 10.04 FAIL OSX (Snow Leopard) - Ubuntu 9.10 FAIL OSX (Snow Leopard) - Ubuntu 10.04 OK OSX (Snow Leopard) - Ubuntu 9.10 OK Ubuntu 10.04 - OSX (Snow Leopard) OK OSX - Windows 7 OK Windows 7 - Ubuntu 10.04 OK Windows 7 - Ubuntu 9.10 OK Ubuntu 9.10 Server (samba) - OSX (Snow Leopard) OK Ubuntu 9.10 Server (samba) - Ubuntu 10.04 OK Ubuntu 9.10 Server (samba) - Ubuntu 9.10 OK Ubuntu 9.10 - Ubuntu 10.04 OK Ubuntu 10.04 - Ubuntu 9.10 OK Basically, I only get this error when trying to copy from an OSX share to a Ubuntu client. Transferring the file from a Ubuntu client to the OSX share works fine. Any other OS mixes do not have an issue in my environment. [Bug 510938] Re: 2 Gig limit copying file from samba share.
File size limit removed by editing the file /etc/smb.conf on the OSX machine and removing ,darwin_streams from the line : vfs objects = notify_kqueue,darwinacl,darwin_streams So it seems that named streams on OSX 10.6.3 shares are causing the 2 GB size restriction in this instance. I posted the bug again for Ubuntu 10 Lucid Lynx at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=617366 A mail was sent to a lot of people. I don't know if that's according to what you supposed. ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #617366 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=617366 -- 2 Gig limit copying file from samba share. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/510938 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thank you for your bug report. The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the software (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME) ** Package changed: nautilus (Ubuntu) = gvfs (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gvfs (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New ** Changed in: gvfs (Ubuntu) Assignee: Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) = (unassigned) -- 2 Gig limit copying file from samba share. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/510938 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 510938] Re: 2 Gig limit copying file from samba share.
May you please run gvfs as: GVFS_DEBUG=1 /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd -r ; copy the files with gvfs-copy and attach that resulting output to the report? I attached the ouput of the above statement. I deleted all the repeating GVfsJobRead debug info otherwise the dump would be over 2 MB with useless data. I left the beginning and the end unchanged. kind regards. ** Attachment added: ouput of GVFS_DEBUG=1 /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd -r http://launchpadlibrarian.net/39032361/dump -- 2 Gig limit copying file from samba share. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/510938 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
