[Bug 513468] Re: Dim display when idle does not respect idle time setting
We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help. ** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/513468 Title: Dim display when idle does not respect idle time setting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/513468/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 513468] Re: Dim display when idle does not respect idle time setting
I am the original reporter. I can't test in Natty because I use the LTS version. Testing on new releases is a task I expect you, the vendor, to perform. I have provided all of the information needed to replicate the issue in my original bug report. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/513468 Title: Dim display when idle does not respect idle time setting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/513468/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 513468] Re: Dim display when idle does not respect idle time setting
I'm reverting the bug status back to Incomplete for now, until someone can test whether the bug still exists in the current development release of Ubuntu. Before trying to fix bugs in older releases it is always sensible to first look whether it is already fixed in a newer release -- if it is, it makes sense to backport this fix. BTW: You do not need an installation of Oneiric (or Natty) to test, you can test it running it from an USB stick, for example. I marked another bug as a duplicate of this bug, I'm copying my comment from there which might be helpful for you: There are two different settings: Switching off the screen after a certain time (that is what you set with Put display to sleep when inactive for and uses hh:mm values) and dim the screen when idle. The latter setting does not care for the time you set but uses a standard value of 10 seconds. You can change this value using gconf-editor ( /apps/gnome-power-manager/backlight/idle_dim_time ). I agree that this is not user-friendly and apparently also against what the documentation says. Finally, regarding your comment Testing on new releases is a task I expect you, the vendor, to perform. Your use of the term vendor implies you paid for Ubuntu, I'd therefore suggest you raise this report in the respective channel of your support provider (e.g. if you are a subscriber of Canonical's Ubuntu Home Support, log in to the online support portal at https://landscape.canonical.com/) ** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/513468 Title: Dim display when idle does not respect idle time setting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/513468/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 513468] Re: Dim display when idle does not respect idle time setting
Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of this project. - Not a papercut , its a bug either in gpm or in x-org , users have been reporting screensaver problems. And a likely dup. For further information about papercuts criteria, please read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut. Don't worry though, this bug has been marked as Invalid only in the papercuts project. ** Changed in: hundredpapercuts Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- Dim display when idle does not respect idle time setting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/513468 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 513468] Re: Dim display when idle does not respect idle time setting
It's very unlikely that this is a paper cut. ** Changed in: hundredpapercuts Status: New = Incomplete -- Dim display when idle does not respect idle time setting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/513468 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
