Sorry, typo. The file to delete should have been: $ rm .evolution/mail/pop/email address withheld@xxx.xxx.com:110/folders.db And again, you will need to replace the email address withheld part and the xxx.xxx.com part as appropriate for your configuration. I am now running Ubuntu 10.04, and Evolution 2.28.3, and this same problem happened again. Thank you both, this fixed the issue. Looking back at my log post I see the folders.db file shown just before the error message. Even though there seem to be ..if not exist create.. statements even if I was sure it would be re-created I would not deleted it because I do not know the data it contains or if it is just an index file of the existing folders in Evolution. Is there a place to find out technical information on Evolution? I have used Outlook with Sendmail as a back-end. When Outlook has a size problem or indexing problem a recovery, if any, is only partially successful. Evolution has been working great since I started to use it and this full recovery of all emails, folders, rules, etc. has me sold on Evolution. This bug has been resolved for me. I am experience the same problem as Akil. I am using Evolution 2.28.1 from Ubuntu 9.10. Does anyone know what file is this error message about? After googling around I found that the error appears to be coming from sqlite, and that sqlite sometimes uses a .db file extension for its databases. Furthermore, the problem only appeared to be associated with one of my email addresses. I have exactly the same problem reported above. I was switching between Calendar and Mails when Evolution stopped responding. I had to do a force shutdown. After that I can't receive any emails on one of my accounts. The other account works fine. I have access to all the emails and was able to do a backup as well. The error that I see is Error while Fetching Mail and when I click on the icon in the task bar it gives me a pop-up that says file is encrypted or is not a database. Please help. Akil, Please go to a terminal window and enter CAMEL_DEBUG=all evolution evo.log , without the quotes. This will open Evolution, if you get the message on the bottom on connection failure close Evolution, if you do not get the message click on send/receive then close Evolution. Go to your home directory and look for evo.log make sure that there is no information that you do want to publish to the world, such as ip addresses, folder identification, names, etc. delete or XXX the information and attach the log file so we can get a comparison of log data.
