Yes, my iOS4 device seems to prompt that off. It asked to be initialised on plugin. Since I have downgraded to 3.1.3 I can sync again and don't get that message. I have the same problem. I pinpointed it to having my Iphone plugged in via USB. I have not accepted it as an Ipod device, if that matters. Confirmed, that's likely what it was.
