I noticed recently that DVD's played with totem appeared to shake rapidly up and down, as if the odd-numbered frames were displayed a pixel higher than the even-numbered frames. After checking the "Disable deinterlacing of interlaced videos" checkbox under Preferences->Display, the problem went away. I assume this is the same problem. It makes totem quite unpleasant to use for DVD's.
