The workaround *kinda* works. Here's how it did for me: 1. start ccsm 2. activate Ubuntu Unity Plugin - Switcher - Key to flip through the windows in the switcher. You will find this option is deactivated. Binding it will not unbind alt+circumflex right away 3. activate Application Switcher Plugin. Alt+Circumflex is used in Japanese IME for Windows to switch input mode. Had IBUS in 10.04 configured to use the same keys for activating Anthy. Having to relearn the keys has significant impact on productivity. Workaround: 1. Install compizconfig-settings-manager 2. Run: ccsm 3. This situation is very unfortunate for people using applications which need Alt+^ because it cannot be switched off (as far as I can see). I use Emacs, where Alt+^ is an important functionality. Besides, Alt+^ is of little help on small keyboards with Fn key.
