[Bug 53568] Re: [Bug 53568] Re: [Edgy] python-distutils class assumes pycentral if DEB_PYTHON_SYSTEM not defined
Jérémie Corbier wrote: Therefore if you try to build a package following the new python policy (e.g. if there's a debian/pycompat file) and without defining DEB_PYTHON_SYSTEM the build will fail. If cdbs can't find a clue about whether the package follows the new or the old policy and if DEB_PYTHON_SYSTEM is not defined then the package will be built following the old policy (and it will display a big fat warning ;)) Actually, this is wrong. It will display a big fat warning (as it should) and it attempts to build without the new system, but even still it will call dh_pycentral. if you take a look at the patch, it will become quite obvious why this happens. The cdbs makefile only tests if DEB_PYTHON_SYSTEM matches pysupport and assumes that pycentral is the only other logical choice without taking in to account that there might be cases where this if clauses are hit without DEB_PYTHON_SYSTEM being defined. So, even if cdbs is supposed to fall back to building with the old system, it will build with an uninitialized pycentral support instead. - s -- [Edgy] python-distutils class assumes pycentral if DEB_PYTHON_SYSTEM not defined https://launchpad.net/bugs/53568 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 38574] Re: [Bug 38574] Re: Pb syncing treo 650 on dapper drake
Thanks for the helpful responses. My first 2.6.17.6 kernel did have some config issues which prevented me from seeing the normal boot messages. I went through almost every option now and think I have something decent. I also did more experiments with gpilotd and pilot-link. gpilotd now does a full sync reliably. But only if I start it by manually from the command line. After the sync is completed, it seems to hang, and I cannot perform another sync. If I then kill gpilotd and start it again manually, I can then perform another sync. Perhaps related to this, /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1 still exist long after my palm device has disconnected from the bus as long as gpilotd is running. As soon as I kill gpilotd, those entries disappear. I have setup udev to create a /dev/pilot symlink to /dev/ttyUSB1. I reconfigured gpilotd to use /dev/pilot instead of /dev/ttyUSB1 directly and saw the same behavior. I also tried using pilot-link. pilot-link will not talk to my palm device at all. It hangs at the message please press the hotsync button now when I've already pressed the hotsync button before starting pilot-link. If I wait until starting pilot-link to press the hotsync button, it complains that /dev/pilot does not exist. That's the human timing issue I was talking about. I hadn't ever used gnome-pilot under Debian so I couldn't comment on anything there. I also tried jpilot and got a similar result as pilot-link. I pressed the hotsync button on the cradle, then pressed a sync button on its GUI and it said press the hotsync button. Here are some messages: J-Pilot: sync PID = 8469 J-Pilot: press the hotsync button on the cradle or kill 8469 pi_accept: Connection timed out pi_accept Illegal seek Exiting with status SYNC_ERROR_PI_ACCEPT Finished J-Pilot: sync PID = 8497 J-Pilot: press the hotsync button on the cradle or kill 8497 J-Pilot: sync PID = 8497 J-Pilot: press the hotsync button on the cradle or kill 8497 J-Pilot: sync PID = 8497 J-Pilot: press the hotsync button on the cradle or kill 8497 J-Pilot: sync PID = 8497 J-Pilot: press the hotsync button on the cradle or kill 8497 J-Pilot: sync PID = 8497 J-Pilot: press the hotsync button on the cradle or kill 8497 dlp_ReadSysInfo error Exiting with status SYNC_ERROR_PI_CONNECT Finished So at this point I have a usable workaround by running gpilotd manually with kernel 2.6.17.6. I'm not sure what to make of the fact that palm syncing app seems to be broken in different ways. One more thing. I'm developing Cairo based AWT peers for GNU Classpath. [Bug 53651] Re: Aplying filters with hotkey (Ctrl+Y) deletes filters definitions.
Well, the problems doesn't seems to be related to hot key. The file filters.xml was corrupted, and bringing a backup solved the problem. How did it get corrupted?... that's the question. Before getting this odd behavior, I deleted a folder that was used in one of the filters. After deleting the folder, evolution showed a message saying that it has updated the related filters. Maybe there's the problem, and when it tries to update filters, it corrupts the filters.xml file. [Bug 50079] Re: CD Burner needs file based temporary directory
The default install won't even create /tmp, leaving it as a subdirectory of /, ext3 normally. So for noobs, this isn't an issue. What you say suggests that if you do a manual install, the installer creates /tmp as tmpfs. Seems to me people tweaking their filesystem layout should be able to figure out that you need enough swap/tmp to burn a cd/dvd, and the _logical_ place to find a temporary image would be /tmp. Moving the temporary file will create endless confusion. If you don't have enough space, the solution is increase swap/the size of /tmp, not move the directory. Moving the temporary file to /var will result in the same issues when it fills up, but be harder to figure out what's wrong. It's also easier to increase the size of /tmp as it's based on swap, than /var, which may be on its own fixed size partition. ** Changed in: nautilus-cd-burner (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed = Rejected -- CD Burner needs file based temporary directory https://launchpad.net/bugs/50079 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
