[Bug 496182] Re: After quitting empathy the status icon doesn't return to its normal state but gets greyed out.

2010-01-13 Thread Vish
For Lucid, the IM status and the session menu [systems shutdown menu]
are separate.

The current implementation as mentioned in the bug 432635 was a
temporary solution. It would probably be ported into Karmic as well ,
when the feature is completed in Lucid.

[Bug 60448] Re: .xsession_errors file grows out of control saturates disk space

2010-01-13 Thread Jason
I can't find any text editor that can open a 1 GB text file so I have
no idea what's causing it to expand that much, clearly the only way to
solve the expanding .xsession_errors is to cap it at a certain file
size. Having an option to disable it entirely would be nice too.

The file grows to 10 GB (the size of all of my free space on the
partition) in less than a day on my system, although it doesn't happen
every day.

[Bug 502336] [NEW] Text unreadable with blocky dark background on fade in effect at song change

2010-01-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: banshee

When changing a song or when mousing over the notification area icon the
text showing the song title is supposed to fade in. Instead it displays
black backgrounds between each letter, about covering their bounding box
until the fade effect ends. At which point the text is rendered
correctly.

I'm running karmic with compiz disabled (free ATI drivers). I'm not sure
what causes this but I've tried it under both the clearlooks and human
themes and changing them does not seem to have any effect.

[Bug 506880] [NEW] nautilus-connect-server should keep settings if connection failed

2010-01-13 Thread Christian Kosmowski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

1) karmic koala
2) 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu3 0
3 and 4) I think it's pretty annoying if you have a misstype in an ip-adress or
something that nautilus-connect-server does'nt keep your seetings and opens up
again. Also it creates a bookmark if you decided to create one but also if the
connection failed so you get some damaged bookmarks.

If the connection failes it should open up the window again, with the
old values filled in the fields, so you can check for misstypes. And it
should only create the bookmark if the connection is successful.

[Bug 499754] Re: I can not edit menu entries in alacarte at random - Ubuntu Lucid (10.04)

2010-01-13 Thread Antti Kaihola
On my Lucid Alpha 1 (clean install, up-to-date as of today) I can't find
any menu items which would trigger the described error messages.

ankspo71, was this a fresh install or an upgrade?

You could take a look at /usr/share/desktop-directories and
~/.local/share/desktop-directories/ and verify that they contain files
with the .directory extension.

Do you get the exception also when trying to open properties of a
launcher (not a folder)? If so, the exception should be a bit different.

You could add the statement:
print file_path
above line 377 (and indented similarly to the surrounding lines) of
/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/Alacarte/MainWindow.py and see what file paths
Alacarte prints out when you click on the Properties button. It looks like
some of the file names lack an extension and cause the exception you described.

[Bug 493301] Re: No music file export with target storage size

2010-01-13 Thread TM8471
@ Pedro Villaviecenio:

Brasero only offers:
1) Burning an Audio-CD (not Audio-DVD)
2) Burning a Data-DVD (not Audio-DVD)

Audio-DVD is a special format and therefore is not the same as data DVD
(have a look at Wikipedia:http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=DVD-
Audiooldid=333232291). Audio DVD is neither supported in Brasero nor in
Nautilus nor in any other Ubuntu application.

There are some software solutions that do something different, but that is not
Audio DVD:
One application is able to burn a video-DVD. In this DVD the video stream is
only a blue screen. The audio stream contains the music (I suppose as
MP3-stream). This application is called Audio DVD creator (link:
http://www.audio-dvd-creator.com/guide.htm) but - despite its name - it does
not create DVDs in the audio DVD standard. It creates only a special Video DVD
(with a blank video stream).

[Bug 487948] Re: Video Podcast doesn't remember window size or position

2010-01-13 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
comment from upstream:

Rhythmbox only plays video because I can't be bothered making it not do
so.

It's an accident that it works at all at the moment. There would be a lot of
work involved in making rhythmbox usable for video playback, and none of the
regular developers seem to have the time or motivation to do it.

Closing this as wont fix too.

[Bug 499754] Re: I can not edit menu entries in alacarte at random - Ubuntu Lucid (10.04)

2010-01-13 Thread ankspo71
Hi Antti Kaihola,
This is a clean install of Lucid Alpha 1 (i386) with no updates applied (I'm
avoiding a partial upgrade) but with some various applications installed. All
directory files do end in the .directory extension.

However, you have helped me find the problem. None of the applications
(except for the ones I have added entries for) have the *.desktop
extension in the folder ~/.local/share/applications .

$$$ ls /home/james/.local/share/applications
alacarte-made-1.desktop
alacarte-made.desktop
brasero

evolution
evolution-mail
firefox
foobillard
f-spot
gcalctool
gimp
gnome-search-tool
Google-googleearth.desktop

mimeinfo.cache
miro

sun-java6-javaws

wine-browsedrive
wine-extension-chm.desktop
wine-extension-gbx.desktop
wine-extension-hlp.desktop
wine-extension-htm.desktop
wine-extension-html.desktop
wine-extension-ini.desktop
wine-extension-rtf.desktop
wine-extension-txt.desktop
wine-extension-wri.desktop
wine-extension-xml.desktop
xsane

Changing the ' firefox ' file to ' firefox.desktop ' allows me to change
the property values of firefox in alacarte.

On the other hand, every file in the /usr/share/applications folder
does have a *.desktop extension.

Whatever it is that is responsible for creating *.desktop extensions is
failing to do so during ubuntu installation, and while using apt-get. I
used command line apt-get to install my favorite applications from the
ubuntu repositories. I have a few applications listed there that I have
installed using another method... sh GoogleEarthLinux.run for
example.

So it looks like I will have to rename each file (application entry) in the ls
/home/james/.local/share/applications directory to .desktop if I want to
edit them in alacarte.
Thanks.

[Bug 504398] Re: can't open pdf

2010-01-13 Thread madbiologist
@Marinko: You should probably open new bugs for your other pdf's that
wont read on linux, unless they show the same errors in the terminal.
If they do, there is no need to attach them here, but it would be useful
to know if they all have the same creator and producer info as the file
you attached, namely:

Creator:Output Management System of ROHA Software Support GmbH
Producer: SpoolMaster V5.1

If all of your problem files have this, it would suggest that there is a
bug in the ROHA software's embedding of fonts (or a least truetype
fonts) into PDF files.

[Bug 505956] Re: Next-move button in chess shows wrong icon (should be an arrow)

2010-01-13 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
that's probably expected since the show next move is like a hint there,
but you can forward it upstream if you think different, for instructions
on how to do it please read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME
; Thanks in advance.

[Bug 496085] Re: empathy doesn't handle irc: url schemes from Firefox

2010-01-13 Thread om26er
Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut
should be a small usability issue , in the default Ubuntu 9.10 install ,
that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't
be addressed as part of the project.

Not a paper rather a feature request
For further info about papercuts criteria , pls read
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut

Don't worry though, This bug has been marked as invalid ONLY in the
papercuts project.
