[Bug 558872] Re: empathy accounts fail to connect after manually unlocking keyring

2010-04-18 Thread Waldo000000
I made the suggested changes via gconf-editor, but there was no observed
change in behaviour.

The clarify: when the system starts I am asked for the keyring password.
While the system waits, my wireless connection connects successfully.
When I then provide my password, empathy does not connect, and has an
empty empathy window that persists until I quit and restart empathy.

[Bug 563879] Re: evolution-data-server consumes massive amounts of memory, invokes OOM killer

2010-04-18 Thread Oliver Grawert
i also see pulse and rhythmbox being killed, and even gnome-session here
i skipped updating for about a week and have the issue since last update
yesterday.

funnily running terminal windows with top and htop dont actually show
any peak in memory usage while this happens.

i am using a -pae kernel and no swap on a 4G machine, htop shows RAM
usage around 900MiB all the time.

@Oliver:

I applied your suggestions. I made a

rm -rf $(find ~/ -name *~)

chgrp -R ekin ~/

Before those commands the UID was 1000 and GID was 100. Now they are all
1000. But the error that Gedit gives with my old files continues.

i am not so sure it is actually evolution-data-server though, even after
issuing an evolution --force-shutdown i get OOM errors (most visible
in chromium by randomly turning tabs into Oh No pages) this happens
while only rhythmbox, xchat and three terminal windows are open
alongside chromium (with ~20 tabs) and definately no evo processes are

[Bug 565722] [NEW] eog fails to start

2010-04-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

eog fails to start but continues to run in the background; I'm using
Lucid with all updates and eog 2.30.0-0ubuntu1. This is the stdout when
running eog test.png:

(eog:8683): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to read the recently used
resources file at `/home/delan/.recently-used.xbel', but the parser
failed: Error reading file '/home/delan/.recently-used.xbel': Is a

It seems that removing the ~/.recently-used directory temporarily fixes
the problem, but upon recreation of that directory (by removing the
~/.recently-used file and making the directory) eog still works
sometimes. The problem is quite intermittent.

[Bug 565895] [NEW] saa7130[0]/alsa: Encore ENLTV-FM v5.3 doesn't support digital audio

2010-04-18 Thread Edson Jr.
Public bug reported:

Previously, I reported a problem (tvtime no sound), which I understood to be

Has anyone been able to change their password via the Change Password

[Bug 203158] Re: libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio should be seeded by default in pulse-enabled derivatives

2010-04-18 Thread Bela Lubkin
This seems to have been fixed by making ubuntu-desktop depend on both
libsdl1.2debian _and_ libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio.

libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio conflicts with all other variants, including
libsdl1.2debian-all. So now, Ubuntu users cannot swap in any of the
other flavors without breaking the master ubuntu-desktop package. I
know that doesn't remove anything; but as the ubuntu-desktop package
description says, it is also used to help ensure proper upgrades, so it
is recommended that it not be removed. I _do_ want my system to follow
the general flow of Ubuntu configuration changes.

There are two compelling reasons to be able to swap in other versions of
this library:

- For debugging/troubleshooting sound issues. It can help an end user
troubleshoot or work around problems with a particular app; or general
system sound problems. An app developer might also want to check
behavior with different sound back-ends.

- To use different SDL _graphics_ back-ends. libsdl1.2debian-all is
documented as: compiled with X11, aalib and ggi graphics drivers and
oss, esound, alsa, nas and pulseaudio sound drivers. It doesn't just
have extra audio, but also extra video support. (The all build I
grabbed doesn't actually have GGI or svgalib enabled; GGI explicitly
disabled in debian/rules, SVGA looks like the build machine didn't have
the right stuff installed.)

Can't .deb dependencies express If libsdl is needed, install
-pulseaudio by default; ubuntu-desktop depends on either -pulseaudio or
-all? Then users would have the ability to change it without pulling
out the master ubuntu-desktop package.

Since -all can be retargeted with SDL_AUDIODRIVER and SDL_VIDEODRIVER
environment variables, it should be sufficient to allow those two.
Limiting to just -pulseaudio is, well, rather sharply limiting...

[Bug 565939] [NEW] Autohide of bottom bar after changing desktop doesn't work

2010-04-18 Thread Tiefflieger
Public bug reported:

Appeared on Lucid Lynx Beta 2

I enabled on both top and bottom panel bars of gnome desktop the autohide
function.
If I click on the bottom bar to switch to another desktop and leave the bar
with the mouse arrow, the bottom bar does not hide automatically.

To make the bottom bar hide again, I need to move the mouse over the
bottom bar and leave it again.

(If it was JavaScript, I'd guess it's missing the MouseOut event of
the buttom bar)

[Bug 150112] Re: GNOME needs a Trash Autopurge functionnality

2010-04-18 Thread kikl
I support the idea. If the file is older than a month, you probably have
forgotten all about it. So deleting it automatically would probably be
uncritical. It would be a great option for automatically managing the
trash. In case you do need to untrash a file, it is more easily found. A
true usability improvement in my mind.
