2011-04-18 Thread Martin Bodin
It reminds me this bugs:

Is this bug reproductible?
Were there a process message on the bottom bar of Evolution when it fails to
quit and what was it if there were any?

I’m afraid that without these answers, this bug report is incomplete…

[Bug 737891] Re: [Arrandale] gnome-display-properties unable to correctly enable monitors connected to VGA

2011-04-18 Thread Thierry Carrez
I have the same issue as Dustin. x201 on Ultrabase docking station,
connected to a Samsung 225BW monitor.

If I connect the laptop to my smallish 17" 1280x1024 Sony, I manage to
hook it up in dual display mode. But if I try to disable the laptop
screen it fails with a black screen /cursor. So I can't really use it in
single-screen mode on the docking station.

If I connect the laptop to my widescreen Samsung 22", it directly goes
to the parasited flashing screen effect.

So it looks like there are two separate bugs, one of them being specific
to large screens / Samsungs.

This is also very similar to what Anmar described at bug 732050.

[Bug 737891] Re: [Arrandale] gnome-display-properties unable to correctly enable monitors connected to VGA

2011-04-18 Thread Thierry Carrez
I managed to get it kinda working. The flashing issue with the Samsung
seemed to be in a stale monitors.xml file. Posting for reference:

Boot laptop separate, then remove ~/.config/monitors.xml and /etc/gnome-
settings-daemon/xrandr/monitors.xml

Shutdown. Place laptop on Ultrabase. Boot, system comes up in cloned
screens mode.

gnome-display-properties, disable cloned mode, set monitor screen
resolution, apply. We are now in dual head mode, with the unity launcher
on the laptop screen. The only way to get it on the main screen seems to
be to disable laptop screen.

disable laptop screen, apply. The confirmation countdown apparently runs
somewhere else and will revert your change in 30 seconds... unless you
press apply again and confirm it.

I still have to experiment on how I can make that setup stick... or work
with the laptop lid closed on the Ultrabase.

Not a release critical bug at all, and dropping priority as this doesn't

[Bug 662194] Re: [SRU] Nautilus: 'Remember this application for ..." option should be made inactive by default

2011-04-18 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: nautilus

By having this option enabled by default when used on dir.'s the app
chosen is set as the new default folder handler.

This is causing users problems, more every day, and there is no benefit to
having it as a default active option (not sure if the option has any value at
all.
With the box inactive - when used on dir.'s the app chosen will still be
added to the 'open with' menu, but not set as default folder handler.
(( while having the box active for files causes no issues, again having it
inactive does not prevent the choice from being added to the 'open with' menu
for that mimetype, so the simple fix for the moment would be to just make
inactive period.

- As simple as
+ As simple as
  gtk_toggle_button_set_active (GTK_TOGGLE_BUTTON (dialog->details->checkbox),
FALSE);

  Related ignored bug
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/603833

Please do not dupe this to this bug - a dead end it appears
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/366963
+
+ Impact: Unexperienced users can set default file handler for directories
+ to some random application, rendering unexpected results.
+
+ TEST CASE:
+
+ - Right click on directory
+ - Select "Open with other application"
+ - Make sure option "Remember this application for folder files" is no longer
present

[Bug 764577] [NEW] Wrong CSS highlighting for selector names that can also be value keywords

2011-04-18 Thread atarax
Public bug reported:

Using libgtksourceview2 2.26.0-2ubuntu1 with Ubuntu 10.04.

It seems as if gtk-source-view performs a mere search for strings without
regard to context.
In the case of a selector name: if you choose a name that can also be a
property value it will be highlighted as if it were a property value and not
like any other arbitrary selector name. Examples:

span.class1 { padding: 0; } /* This is the regular highlighting of a selector
*/
pre.class2 { margin: 0; }/* The keyword 'pre' can also be a property value
and thus is highlighted as such */
div.bottom { margin: 0; }/* The keyword 'bottom' can also be a property
value and thus is highlighted as such */
div.hover { text-align: left; }/* The keyword 'hover' can also be a name
for a pseudo-class */
div.lang { margin: 0; } /* The keyword 'lang' can also be an attribute of
a selector */
div.white { padding:0; } /* The keyword 'white' can also be a color value */

[Bug 764632] [NEW] The "Use SSH tunnel" option doesn't work

2011-04-18 Thread TH
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vinagre

I get this message:

Error creating the SSH tunnel
Error reading from Unix: Input/output error

I've had this problem in the past but it usually worked if I simply
retried the connection. Now it happens every time and it won't establish
the ssh tunnel.

If I connect to the tunnel host with ssh from the command line that
works fine, also if I create the tunnel with:

$ ssh -L5999:h1:5901 m...@my.home.server.net

it also works fine when I then connect to localhost:5999 in vinagre.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04

[Bug 750334] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGABRT in raise()

2011-04-18 Thread David Henningsson
Result of testing your latest patch version - if I press media keys within ~5
seconds (which probably corresponds to the 5 second timer to idle_reconnect), I
still get the warning message (and OSD), after that, I get neither warning
message nor OSD.
After bringing PA up again things works normally again.

[Bug 761068] Re: Evolution FAILED: Directory not empty after 2.30->2.32 (Natty) Upgrade

2011-04-18 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
I don't think it's quite the same bug... This one has been fixed some
time in January or February or so; so you shouldn't still be seeing
empty directories such as 'task'. As for the old directories for email
accounts, I'd venture this is also that something didn't quite get
converted properly, even if all emails show in the directory.

Unfortunately, now we don't really have a way to figure out what went
wrong seeing as the offending directories were deleted. Do you remember
if they contained anything?

I'll mark this "Invalid" since we won't be able to reproduce the issue
or diagnose what went wrong in the migration. Let's reopen if there's
some other migration that fails or wait for another bug report about
this. Sorry for the inconvenience.

[Bug 344839] Re: Cannot Mount External drive error message is unhelpful

2011-04-18 Thread Ivanka Majic
This is a bug in two parts. First is the fact that the drive couldn't mount
which is a technical issue of some description.
Second is the error message itself which is unhelpful. I appreciate that it
isn't always possible to suggest what a user might do to rectify the problem
but it is necessary in order to provide a good experience even when things go
wrong.

As it currently stands the offline equivalent is this:

I am sitting on a train on my way from Brighton to London. The announcer
apologises that train has encountered a problem and is canceled. I am
left standing on a platform trying to find out how to get to work.

A better experience is this.

I am sitting on a train on my way from Brighton to London. The announcer
apologises that the train is being canceled and suggests that I go to
Platform X to catch and alternative train. I am still late, but I am not
standing on a platform clueless as to what to do next.
