[Bug 996344] Re: Podcasts in double

2012-07-06 Thread aron.sakuragi
I have the same problem. We are trying to solve it on the Italian site,
http://forum.ubuntu-
it.org/viewtopic.php?f=73t=527969p=4125631#p4125631. It may be a
problem with France culture podcast? Because it seems to me with other
podcast there are no problems.

[Bug 1021651] [NEW] preview screen to save the changes is too small

2012-07-06 Thread Manish-Raj
Public bug reported:

I opened some photos in eog picture viewer and as their rotation was not
correct I rotated them by using rotate left / rotate right options.
After closing the viewer, it gave me the option that whether I want to

too small ( See the attached screen-shot ) . I think there should be a
maximize buttom on this window to preview the things correctly.

[Bug 1021707] [NEW] No sound or jerky sound when playing Audio CDs in rhythmbox

2012-07-06 Thread David McKelvie
Public bug reported:

Playing commercial audio CDs worked fine for me in rhythmbox in the
initial release of Ubuntu 12.04 (May 2012).

However sometime between then and 5th Jul 2012, they have stopped
working.

Currently I get either a few seconds of sound and then nothing, or the first
few seconds of each track are very jerky
and then rest of track plays ok.

Movies / Audio from YouTube work fine in Firefox and Chromium.
Commercial move DVDs play fine audio/visual in MoviePlayer
Audio from .ogg files on my hard disk play fine in Rhythmbox.

So some problem with reading audio from CDs.

I have tried the suggestions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/PositionReporting none of which helped.

This is related to various reported bugs, but I dont know enough to say
for sure that they are duplicates.

 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2012727 sounds relevant

[Bug 1021720] [NEW] gedit hangs opening some files

2012-07-06 Thread aloctavodia
Public bug reported:

When opening some files gedit hangs and consume a lot of RAM memory and
then swap memory. The system became unresponsive. The only solution is
to kill gedit or reboot. Generally this happens with big files, I do
not know exactly the limit but probably files with more than ~5000
lines. Sometimes gedit manage to open the file, but generally it hangs.
Sometimes after killing gedit firefox is also un-responsive and a pop-up
window (or 2 or 3) complain about a script that is running, the name of
the script running is a long strings of character with js extension.
this firefox message appears only when gedit hangs, but sometimes gedit
hangs and this firefox message do not appear.

Please let me know if you need more information. I use gedit all the
time, to program and to edit files and this bug is really annoying.
Thanks in advance

[Bug 1006626] [NEW] Ctrl blinks with an aureole

2012-07-06 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

To rename a file I press F2, then I want to paste another name by
pressing Ctrl+V, but when I press Ctrl key the name of the file goes
back to the old one. So, I have to use right button of the mouse to do
it which is less convinient. This happens since 5-7 days. Basically,
when I click on the name of a file or folder and press Ctrl I get back
to grey and cursor starts to blink like an aureole.

Re: [Bug 1021707] Re: No sound or jerky sound when playing Audio CDs in rhythmbox

2012-07-06 Thread David McKelvie
Thanks. I dont think I realised just how complicated this is.

I installed VLC then

VLC can handle but not Rhythmbox

Forth Valley Chorus:OK in VLC not ok in Rhythmbox
Best of Frank Zappa:OK in VLC not ok in Rhythmbox
Classic Van Morrison: OK in VLC not ok in Rhythmbox
Best of Van Morrison: OK in VLC ok in Rhythmbox tho cant select a
later track

Neither can handle

Patty Smith Easter: 1 second of reasonable sound - then silence and VLC
stops responding ie I cant play another track
   ditto bad in Rhythmbox
Frank Zappa Hot Rats: 1 second of reasonable sound - then silence and VLC
stops responding ie I cant play another track
   ditto bad in Rhythmbox
Patty Smith Horses: a few seconds of very fuzzy sound - background buzz
then silence
   ditto bad in Rhythmbox

Looks like I should use VLC and maybe buy some new CDs and make a backup this
time.

When I tested in May I didnt do a rigorous set of tests, just played Hot Rats
and it was
fine.

David

[Bug 969359] Re: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock)

2012-07-06 Thread Anoop Karollil
I have this problem with a fresh install of 12.04.

Christophe's keyboard.gnome-settings-plugin replacement work-around did
not work for me - the daemon spawned back with a vengeance and started
using 100% of one of my cores. But I can live with the default
autorepeat setting and am not overloading numlock, and so removing that
file altogether and killing gnome-settings-daemon worked.

[Bug 1021829] [NEW] Strange choice of system timezone as default

2012-07-06 Thread Marc A. Donges
Public bug reported:

evolution uses something called system timezone per default. This
appears to be the timezone defined by /etc/localtime.

This is odd, and entirely different from all other software, that uses
$TZ, and only looks at /etc/localtime as a fallback.

Explanation: I use UTC for /etc/localtime, because logs, statistics etc.
should be recorded in UTC (being a monotonic timescale).

Local time is only for users, so I set the TZ environment variable at
login time. This works fine with GNOME, all CLI programs, Firefox etc.
Evolution seems to be the only exception.

... and so on ...

So then I took the CD out and re-seated it in the drive. This time it
played just fine and vlc said

[0xb260bbf0] cdda access warning: found 6 matches in CDDB. Using first one.
[0xb260c100] main stream error: cannot pre fill buffer

[0xb0635198] main audio output warning: PTS is out of range (-33001), dropping
buffer

and then quieted down and played fine.

Then without touching the drive, I shut dowm vlc and started up rythmbox. But
it could only play
a few seconds of music before falling silent.

After that 'vlc -v' again and it was back to lots of
[0xb5400750] main audio output warning: PTS is out of range (40031), dropping
buffer
and
ES_OUT_SET_(GROUP_)PCR is called too late (pts_delay increased to 1065 ms)
messages.
and the music could not be heard.

Then I Ejected disk, reinserted and ran via 'vlc -v'. This time it
played ok again.

Not obvious if this is a dvd drive problem, a disk problem, or a
rhythmbox problem.

But possibly my earlier testing with vlc and rhythmbox together
without taking the disc out in between may have been misleading about
the capabilities of VLC.

I can play Patty Smith Horses if I run 'vlc' from command line and select disk.
But not if I tell the Ubuntu auto disk detector to run vlc on the disk ?

So last one Patty Smith Easter.
   Insert
Select 'vlc' from automounter dialogue box
A 1/2 sec burst of sound then nothing.

Eject disk
Reinsert
Cancel from automounter dialogue box
Run vlc -v from command line
Devices / Discs / CD / cdda://dev/sr0 / play
This time it plays just fine!

So, shut vlc. Eject disk. Reinsert.
Cancel from automounter dialogue box

Run rhythmbox -d from command line
Select Devices / Easter / Play
It plays for a bit and falls silent.

Summary then. I can play all my test CDs with VLC from the command line. But
only one of them with Rhythmbox.

[Bug 951123] Re: nautilus not natural scrolling

2012-07-06 Thread Louis M
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 966237 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/966237

You can try adding this in your xorg.conf file:

Section InputClass
Identifier Touchpad
Driver synaptics
MatchIsTouchpad on
MatchDevicePath /dev/input/event*
Option VertScrollDelta -235
Option HorizScrollDelta -235
EndSection

You can change the 235 values for anything you want. It work for me.

Louis

[Bug 988788] Re: Nautilus quicklist should have the Open a New Window entry at the top of the list

2012-07-06 Thread Stéphane Guillou
Another thing related to the quicklist is that the shortcuts shouldn't be
alphabetically sorted, but the order should correspond to the order in the
Places sidebar.
Right now, we are confronted with 3 different orders:
- Quicklist: everything alphabetically (Computer folders and bookmarks).
- Places sidebar: Bookmarks (sorted by the user), Computer shortcuts (fixed
order: Home, then alphabetical order, then File System and Rubbish Bin),
Network.
- Bookmarks menu: Computer folders in no logical order, and then bookmarks as
sorted by the user.
