[Bug 1055415] Re: Cannot login, black screen

2012-09-25 Thread Edward Donovan
I'd say xorg is a better bet than nautilus. There's no info here about
your video hardware -- the simplest way to get it would be to start over
with:

  ubuntu-bug xorg

So I'm going to mark this one Invalid to close it, because it'll be
smoother for you than directing that info to this existing report.
Thanks.

** Package changed: nautilus (Ubuntu) = xorg (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1055973] [NEW] Evolution 3.6.0 - Restore from backup fails

2012-09-25 Thread Jayes
Public bug reported:

Just installed Evolution 3.6.0 on Ubuntu and (with the first-run dialog)
restored my data from a backup (made with Evolution 3.4, Debian).
Evolution restarted and presented me with the firts-run dialog again
(and kept doing that).

I manually entered an email account to proceed to the program: My
contacts were restored, only 1 of 3 calendars ('personal') was restored
and only the manually entered email account was present (but emails are
restored).

So it appears that email data are restored, but not the accounts. And
only the default 'personal' calendar is restored, not additional
calendars.

[Bug 410534] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in g_slice_alloc()

2012-09-25 Thread Mario Vukelic
I ran g-s-d through valgrind for 2 days now, and the issues seems to
have happened twice during the night, which is consistent with what I
though was my experience without valgrind as well. May have something to
do with turning off or locking the screen when the laptop is not in use
- there is nothing else happening over night that I know of.

I piped the command through tee in order to also catch g-s-d's own debug
log:

G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly  valgrind -v --tool=memcheck
--leak-check=full --num-callers=40 --log-file=valgrind.log gnome-
settings-daemon debug | tee gnome-settings-daemon-with-valgrind-

Thanks for reporting this bug.

Could you please be more specific on what the actual issue is? Are
translations not loaded? Is there simply a delay in translations done
upstream? Are you talking about GUI or help files?

The more accurate you are, the more helpful we can be in fixing the
issue.

[Bug 1055766] Re: grep -R doesn't automatically search amazon

2012-09-25 Thread Paul Sladen
akeane: if you'd be happy to pinpoint this request to specifically focus
on requesting surfacing of the 'unity-lens-applications' backend output
via 'command-not-found', I'd be happy to help you do that. (At the
moment, it's a bit hard to do much else as a very useful idea at the
centre is diluted).

Of course, yes, the other way is to describe what you're after with a
patch, and we can focus the bug report on exactly what the patch is
trying to perform.

[Bug 1056068] [NEW] Party Mode double-click inconsistency

2012-09-25 Thread glanzel
Public bug reported:

rhythmbox 2.96-0ubuntu4.2

when lauchening party mode in Rhythmbox when double click on a single song it
is not played directly but
added to the queue.
this is the behavior what i expect in party mode.

when double-clicking on an artist or album the first song of this
artist or album is played directly - the queue is deleted.

this behavior makes the party mode unusable for me.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-keyring

On Alpha 2 everything froze badly, ctr +alt + F1 didn't work, nothing. Today I
did a distribution update and it's partially fixed: in stead of freezing if
restarts the graphical session and *then* it works.
Only when pressing enter, it doesen't happen when clicking.
I recorded it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fsw8fo-PS0w
I'm trying to see if it works the attachment option, because it is over 100mb
and there's probably a filter.

[Bug 950160] Re: Unity blocks other programs from binding globally to Super+* or Alt+* (* = any key)

2012-09-25 Thread Hao-Ran Liu
Thank you, James!

I tested your workaround on some machines from different vendors, which
used to have this super+p issue. I confirm that it can fix the problem.

The comment above is contrary to Daniel's comment in #55. James may be
right that whichever starts later gets to grab the event.

I am not sure if there is any side effect to start gnome-settings-daemon
in the Application phase, which seems to be a bit late. Since we only
want to start g-s-d after compiz, which is started in WindowManager
phase. timchen119 suggested to start it in the Panel phase, which is
the next phase after WindowManager phase. So I also tested machines
with that line changed to:

X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase=Panel

So far everything works fine.

[Bug 1056132] [NEW] Rhythmbox main doesn't show when using a volume indicator during playback after quiting via quicklist

2012-09-25 Thread Budo Zindovic
Public bug reported:

The main window of the Rhythmbox player isn't displayed when using a
volume indicator after using the Quit command in a Unity quicklist. To
reproduce the bug, do the following:

1) play a track in the Rhythmbox
2) use the Minimize to launcher bar button (middle one in the top left corner)
3) use the Quit option in the Rhythmbox quicklist (right-click the Rhythmbox
icon in the Launcher and choose Quit)
4) click on the volume indicator and click the currently playing track in the
indicator menu

Rhythmbox main window is expected to be displayed but instead, only the
Rhythmbox's Launcher icon is active (triangles on the left and right
sides are visible) and main window is not displayed. I expect this
behaviour for an app minimized to a Launcher bar, not the currently
active.

DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04.1
Package: rhythmbox 2.96-0ubuntu4.2
Architecture: i386

[Bug 1051552] Re: Hebrew subtitles are encoded ISO-8859-8

2012-09-25 Thread Shahar Or
** Description changed:

  Dear friends,

Hebrew subtitles, as they are commonly found online, are mostly encoded
- ISO-8859-8.
+ ISO-8859-8. Or perhaps it is Windows-1255 or ISO-8859-8-I? I'm a bit
+ confused about that.

Most, if not all video players expect and decode them as UTF-8.
+
+ The ideal way for this to work is to somehow detect the correct
+ encoding. But how would that be done? One method would be to look by the
+ name of the file.

  How can this be solved?

  Thanks,
  Shahar

[Bug 950160] Re: Unity blocks other programs from binding globally to Super+* or Alt+* (* = any key)

2012-09-25 Thread James M. Leddy
Hi Omar,

Yes, the issue is still happening. I don't know the specifics of
XkbStateNotify events, but it seems that whatever registers the key the
latest gets priority. Thus, if g-s-d starts after compiz, it will get
Super+p events, even though Unity (compiz) still gets the Super key when
pressed in isolation. The fix to g-s-d didn't fix the underlying problem
of Unity swallowing Super+p, just that if g-s-d gets the event it'll do
the proper thing. Let me know if you have any more questions.

[Bug 1056241] [NEW] controls in sound output settings are aligned to the output name instead of being fixed length

2012-09-25 Thread lenooh
Public bug reported:

In Sound Settings - Output, the sliders (Balance, Fade, ...) and the
Test Sound button seem to be aligned to the output name. As a
consequence, when I change the output, the controls also move.

I am attaching a screenshot, where I have clicked on three different
outputs. All the controls are aligned to the lenght of the output name,
thus moving depending on which output is selected.

The contols should not move when changing the output. They should be
fixed length.

[Bug 998156] Re: GTK Print dialog sends broken custom page size attribute: PageSize=Custom.Custom.widthxlength

Is this all to fix this bug? Or is there anything to do on GIMP, Inkscape,
 and Firefox?

At least Inkscape and GIMP are still GTK2 apps - AFAIU a change in the
cups printbackend in (upstream) GTK3 doesn't fix printing for them.
Could you help with getting the fix backported upstream to Gtk+ 2.24?

[Bug 944710] Re: empathy-chat assert failure: *** glibc detected *** /usr/lib/empathy/empathy-chat: free(): invalid next size (fast): 0x000000000160ffc0 ***

2012-09-25 Thread Charles Kerr
It's a little interesting that we got eight reports of this during a 2
week period back in April, but apparently no duplicates of it since
then.

Is anyone still seeing this behavior in 12.10 beta 2 or higher?

[Bug 1056272] Crash report cannot be processed

2012-09-25 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

outdated debug symbol package for initscripts: package version
2.88dsf-13.10ubuntu13 dbgsym version 2.88dsf-13.10ubuntu11.1
outdated debug symbol package for libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0: package version
0~git20110809-3 dbgsym version 0~git20110809-2.1

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!
