[Bug 1055415] Re: Cannot login, black screen
I'd say xorg is a better bet than nautilus. There's no info here about your video hardware -- the simplest way to get it would be to start over with: ubuntu-bug xorg So I'm going to mark this one Invalid to close it, because it'll be smoother for you than directing that info to this existing report. Thanks. ** Package changed: nautilus (Ubuntu) = xorg (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid ** Changed in: lightdm (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1055415 Title: Cannot login, black screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1055415/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1055973] [NEW] Evolution 3.6.0 - Restore from backup fails
Public bug reported: Just installed Evolution 3.6.0 on Ubuntu and (with the first-run dialog) restored my data from a backup (made with Evolution 3.4, Debian). Evolution restarted and presented me with the firts-run dialog again (and kept doing that). I manually entered an email account to proceed to the program: My contacts were restored, only 1 of 3 calendars ('personal') was restored and only the manually entered email account was present (but emails are restored). So it appears that email data are restored, but not the accounts. And only the default 'personal' calendar is restored, not additional calendars. [Bug 410534] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in g_slice_alloc()
I ran g-s-d through valgrind for 2 days now, and the issues seems to have happened twice during the night, which is consistent with what I though was my experience without valgrind as well. [Bug 950160] Re: Unity blocks other programs from binding globally to Super+* or Alt+* (* = any key)
Thank you, James! I tested your workaround on some machines from different vendors, which used to have this super+p issue. I confirm that it can fix the problem. The comment above is contrary to Daniel's comment in #55. James may be right that whichever starts later gets to grab the event. I am not sure if there is any side effect to start gnome-settings-daemon in the Application phase, which seems to be a bit late. Since we only want to start g-s-d after compiz, which is started in WindowManager phase. timchen119 suggested to start it in the Panel phase, which is the next phase after WindowManager phase. [Bug 1051552] Re: Hebrew subtitles are encoded ISO-8859-8
** Description changed: Dear friends, Hebrew subtitles, as they are commonly found online, are mostly encoded - ISO-8859-8. + ISO-8859-8. Or perhaps it is Windows-1255 or ISO-8859-8-I? I'm a bit + confused about that. Most, if not all video players expect and decode them as UTF-8. + + The ideal way for this to work is to somehow detect the correct + encoding. [Bug 950160] Re: Unity blocks other programs from binding globally to Super+* or Alt+* (* = any key)
Hi Omar, Yes, the issue is still happening. I don't know the specifics of XkbStateNotify events, but it seems that whatever registers the key the latest gets priority. Thus, if g-s-d starts after compiz, it will get Super+p events, even though Unity (compiz) still gets the Super key when pressed in isolation. The fix to g-s-d didn't fix the underlying problem of Unity swallowing Super+p, just that if g-s-d gets the event it'll do the proper thing.
