2013-02-06 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1090344] Re: Nautilus creates broken symbolic links to files located on GVFS mounts

2013-02-06 Thread Mohammad Reza Yousefi
With the updated version everything works fine, except for the case of browsing
into /scratch on a remote server. I just renamed a file on such a location
(/scratch on a remote server) and it instantly turned into a broken symbolic
link (and I lost 5 GB of very precious data!!)
I am using nautilus 3.4.2

I hope there is fix around it...

[Bug 1117265] [NEW] changing dual-view to mirror-view with the monitor tool is failing on specific situations

2013-02-06 Thread Michael Basse
Public bug reported:

I have a Laptop (A) with an external Monitor (B) and i use them that
every device will show its own screen.

When i switch to mirror view and the monitor-setting-tool (part of
gnome-control-center) is on the extend desktop, it will not be visible
after i changed my setup to mirror-mode. That will result in a switch-
back because the monitor-tool is asking if everything is ok, when i do
not answer with yes within 15 seconds, the old mode will be used again.

So when switching from dual-view to mirror-view ALL windows should
be merged to the primary screen.

[Bug 1117380] [NEW] GTK open dialog shows a bogus new subfolder after a chmod on that folder

2013-02-06 Thread Bogdan Harjoc
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
- open gedit
- hit 'open file' in gedit
- in the open file dialog, go to your Documents folder (or any other folder)
- run this in a console: chmod 777 Documents
- in the open dialog, a new bogus Documents folder appears under the real
~/Documents folder

(if you go out of Documents and back in, the bogus subfolder won't be
there)

It happens on all GTK applications I could try.

Tested on ubuntu-12.04.1 and ubuntu-10.04.

this bug pre-dates the inclusion of luxd, luxd is just an interim
solution while the function is added to gnome-settings-daemon properly

[Bug 959505] Re: gedit wants to save in recently used by default

2013-02-06 Thread yvand
Please do something!
Like many (see
http://askubuntu.com/questions/63202/can-i-stop-apps-from-selecting-recently-used-by-default-in-file-chooser-dialog),
I want gedit to save/open files from current folder and do not want to use
recent used feature. So I want a feature to allow me to change this default
behaviour.

[Bug 872806] Re: GIMP and unity-panel-service go mayhem while opening files

2013-02-06 Thread Rick Reznicsek
** Description changed:

On my Sony Vaio VPCCA (Intel Sandy Bridge), when I select 37 JPG-images
with together a size not more than 5 MB and open them with a rightclick
and open with GIMP, GIMP opens them very, very slow. After having
opened all pictures it takes about 30 seconds until GIMP is ready. The
menus in the unity global menu don't work anymore, and I have to
rightclick into an image to get the options. In the background GIMP,
unity-panel-service and compiz go mayhem (see screenshot attached) and
together sometimes take up over 150% CPU power. Working with images is
impossible and GIMP sometimes accepts my changes of an image, sometimes
  not. This is very annoying!!

- I not sure, but this could have something to do with with crappy
- unity/compiz, because I always have similar problems with other programs
- too. They are slow, laggy, the global menu is not working right, and
- sometimes the program simply crash without saying anything. On my
- xubuntu without compiz this shit never happens with these programms,
- neither with GIMP.

[Bug 1018040] Re: hotkey to change layout won't work properly.

2013-02-06 Thread sam wytoski
** Description changed:

Caps Lock (to first layout), Shift+Caps Lock (to last layout) don't work
properly. It switches between first and second layout not between
first and last as it was in 10.10. So if you are using more then
two layouts ( that useful for Canadians, Russians, austrians, students
and tranlators ) it is quite annoying always to choose third languege by
  mouse clicing .

Note: Will appreciate any suggestions to determine which package it is.

HOW to call/to see a bug (sorry for my english, so ask questions if you
  misses something):

  1. go System settings - keyboard - layout settings
  2. Add few layouts to increase their quantity to 3 layouts. ( for example
english+ russian+ukrainian )
  3. than press Properties button, choose keys to change layout and set
Caps Lock (to first layout), Shift+Caps Lock (to last layout).
  4. Close all settings windows.
- 5. In any text field, addres bar or text editor try to type. Caps Lock
causes choosing of first language. Caps Lock + Shit chooses second. But if
you will first choose first language, type somthing, than choose by mouse
third language ( that is last now) type somothing you will see that Caps /
caps+Shift switches between first and second layouts according their oder in
a layout list, not between first used and last used layout.

[Bug 1117637] [NEW] Brightness and Lock option in System Settings crashes because of glib's schema missing key

2013-02-06 Thread Paulo Calvo
Public bug reported:

When launching the gnome-control-center and selecting the Brightness
and Lock option the application crashes with the following error:

(gnome-control-center:9686): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema
'org.gnome.desktop.screensaver' does not contain a key named
'show-notifications'
Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)

Apparently the issue is simply resolved (or worked around) by editing
the glib schema file org.gnome.desktop.screensaver.gschema.xml, adding
the missing key that it is complaining about and recompiling the glib
schemas.

[Bug 1093185] Re: Nautilus browse network broken pipe on AFP after suspend

2013-02-06 Thread rob
killing those two processes above tends to shut the error message but
not resolving the cause.

today i've successfuly transferred (without any interruption) large
files onto NAS, over the same wi-fi, but via Synology's web-based DSM
GUI. so that means that NAS and wi-fi cannot be blamed. however the
throughput speed was slower.

If you enabled 2-step verification on your Google's account try to create an
application specific password and use that when requested by Evolution Calendar
and Gnome.
I was experiencing the exact same problem.

[Bug 979773] [NEW] Software Sources can’t be opened from System Settings

2013-02-06 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Language Selector, in an error, says that Usually this is related to an
error in your software archive or software manager. Check your
preferences in Software Sources (click the icon at the very right of the
top bar and select System Settings... - Software Sources).

But Software Sources isn't in System Settings. (Actually, Software
Sources can't be opened anymore from the Dash, only from Synaptic,
Update Manager and Software Center).

** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Low
 Status: Won't Fix

[Bug 979773] Re: Software Sources can’t be opened from System Settings

2013-02-06 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Thanks for your effort to improve Ubuntu by reporting this issue!

It's kind of funny... or not. As a response to bug 839880, the quoted
message was changed in Ubuntu 11.10, where Software Sources is available
from System Settings. For some reason it's not there in 12.04, but in
both 12.10 and (so far) in Raring (13.04) Software Sources is available
from System Settings again, so there is currently nothing to fix.

This is indeed a bug in 12.04, but IMHO it's a bug in gnome-control-
center and not in language-selector. The issue is not important enough
to motivate an update of the stable 12.04.

** Package changed: language-selector (Ubuntu) = gnome-control-center
(Ubuntu)

** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1118006] [NEW] brasero crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_loop_unref()

2013-02-06 Thread Edward Donovan
Public bug reported:

Brasero had copied a DVD to an image file, and was preparing to write
the image. I had switched in the blank disc, but apparently it hadn't
written anything yet, as the disc is still blank. A couple of
unnecessary prompts came up when the blank disc was loaded. (That's a
bug that I haven't found nor filed yet. :) I hit escape a few times to
clear those away. A couple escape presses probably went to the brasero
window, and it crashed right after that.

So that's the only cause I can guess. That might make this a dupe of
bug 998389, if hitting Esc is equivalent to clicking the close button,
at that point.

Thanks!
