[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2013-03-01 Thread Øyvind Stegard
Confirmed here too. Having trouble using 12.10 gvfs SMB client talking
to an Ubuntu 12.10 Samba server. Stalls when copying directory
structures to server. There is gigabit networking between nodes.

smbstatus on server displays one locked file at the point of hang:
Locked files:
Pid UidDenyMode Access R/WOplock
SharePath Name Time
--
305871000 DENY_NONE 0x120196WRONLY NONE
/some/share some-file.123 Fri Mar 1 09:37:27 2013

When hang occurs, the only remedy is to kill smb-related gvfs-processes.

What a regression .. :/

autofs + CIFS kernel module is probably a better bet stability and
performance-wise.

[Bug 1136216] Re: gnome control center crash when try to open sound settings menu

2013-03-01 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks for the report, seems like an issue with the precise-proposed update:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/1:3.4.2-0ubuntu0.10

Not sure what's going on there, the diff:
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/131132089/gnome-control-center_1%3A3.4.2-0ubuntu0.9_1%3A3.4.2-0ubuntu0.10.diff.gz

Should lead to anything like that, in any case I'm asking for the update
to be rejected

Re: [Bug 1053783] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 - Stalled shutdown after having had KAlarm opened; with package info.

2013-03-01 Thread Innocent Bystander
Hi

I've turned lots of things off so it might take me a while to get this
to you. I thought I had nepomuk completely suppressed however I see it
is still running.

I have attached the output from the command which I just issued. So
obviously something is still running. I am still getting corruption of
the file system also.

I have attached also a list from the Ubuntu sw management tool to show
which versions are installed.

Thanks for following this up.

Regards,
Tim Josling

However, I really need ps to not truncate the output...does

ps -wweo pid, state, args | grep nepomuk

work for you? I only need the results from the first test again.

 It should look something like:
 2487 S /usr/bin/nepomukserver
 9797 S /usr/bin/nepomukservicestub nepomukstorage
 9857 S /usr/bin/nepomukcontroller -session

 9900 S /usr/bin/nepomukservicestub nepomukfileindexer
 9901 S /usr/bin/nepomukservicestub nepomukfilewatch

 but longer.

Could you also tell me exactly the version of the nepomuk package
 installed?

ok, I found the issue, the diff is buggy, extra lines got added to a new

[Bug 1130690] Re: Default papersize should be in sync with regional formats

2013-03-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package language-selector - 0.106

---
language-selector (0.106) raring; urgency=low

  * language_support_pkgs.py:
Changes in available_languages() to avoid that users are prompted
to install language support for non-installed languages. That
could happen if there were other locales on the system but the
locales representing the installed languages.
  * dbus_backend/ls-dbus-backend:
Update /etc/papersize when regional formats are applied system
wide (LP: #1130690).
  * debian/control:
Bump the accountsservice dependency.
  * LanguageSelector/LocaleInfo.py:
Don't display the @variant portion of a language or locale name
as b'variant'.

no, buggy patch update, the diff headers didn't get updated which leaded
to truncate the end of the new file, which is where the

[Bug 1100034] Re: Sorting Empathy contacts by state

2013-03-01 Thread JB
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 526735 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/526735

This is not a duplicate of #526735. This is regression from the previous
version which used to allow sorting by status.

#526735 is an enhancement to support more sorting criteria, such as the
IM network they're using. #526735 involves more work than this, so they
should not be confused with each other.

[Bug 1138051] [NEW] Не возможно разблокировать экран, но сменить пользователя можно

2013-03-01 Thread Дмитрий
Public bug reported:

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We noticed that some of the sentences in this bug report
are not in English. If they were translated to English they would be
more understandable to triagers. Could you please translate them?

Re: [Bug 1053783] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 - Stalled shutdown after having had KAlarm opened; with package info.

2013-03-01 Thread Bladud
Hey,

Ok, thanks. I see that in this second trace none of the processes are
stuck, they are just taking a while to shutdown.

The information you suggested to me suggests that this is a new
manifestation of a common shutdown bug where stopping down the various
nepomuk processes would race against each other.

This should have been fixed in the latest release, so my recommendation to
you would be to update your nepomuk, akonadi, soprano and kalarm packages
to the latest (4.10.1) version, when it becomes available next week. You
will be able to get them from the kubuntu ppa as explained here:

http://www.kubuntu.org/news/kde-sc-4.10

That should fix the slow shutdown, but to be clear, if your filesystem
isn't unmounting properly, that's nothing to do with nepomuk - it's an
ubuntu specific problem, and there's nothing I can do about it. Especially
since you say it seems to happen even with nepomuk switched off.

Thanks

[Bug 945151] Re: Sound Settings in the applet menu pulls up gnome-control-center, not the sound settings component

2013-03-01 Thread Jim Brodie
Since running updates this morning I have a more extreme version of this
bug. The control centre comes up, but I can't click on anything in it,
CPU shoots up to 100% (and stays there) and if I close the control
centre it just pops right back up again. Have to restart to break out of
it.

[Bug 1138423] Re: evince does not display more then first page of ps documents

2013-03-01 Thread Nathaniel Robison
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

I am not sure if this is actually a bug. When working with any other
changes does it prompt you to save changes when reloading? If not this
might be working as intended and be more of a feature request.

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2013-03-01 Thread interferenc
Seems maybe not all of you have the same problem-cause... Anyway I had a
similar problam copying from a samba share on Ubuntu 12.04 to Windows
XP. The transfer would start but after a while hang. The same would
happen using ftp on the same computers and network.

Today I tried changing MTU (System Settings ... Network ... options ...
tab wired) on the Ubuntu pc, from automatic to 1000. This value is
just a wild guess after my first try of 1500. Now files transfer
perfectly!

Maybe this has something to do with the Path MTU Discovery black hole
meaning: when one computer tries to send bigger packets over the network,
somehow the error message from the receiving computer does not reach the
original sender.

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2013-03-01 Thread Fabio M. P. Bugnon
This bug also affects me (gvfs 1.14.0-0ubuntu6 @ Ubuntu 12.10 i386).

I've tested the simple work around suggested by interferenc #49 --thanks
for that!-- and for me the best MTU number was 700. Any number seems to
make better file transfer than automatic MTU (I've tested 4-5 numbers
in between 300 and 1200).

I would still have the transfer randomly stopping now and then, but in
most cases it would resume after a while, as opposed to permanently
stopping like it used to happen with the default automatic MTU option.

There is probably a speed reduction, but -- at least for me -- it is
worth waiting a little longer and having the files transferred with no
errors.

(tests were made transferring a 30Mb network folder, with 130 .jpg
files, into the Desktop)

Trying high contrast theme under System Settings Appearance
Themes, the minimize/maximize/close buttons are high contrast

not maximized.

Too bad they can't just be the same as the maximized buttons.

[Bug 124440] [NEW] Ubuntu needs a way to set mouse scrolling speed

2013-03-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

This has been driving me nuts for a while now. The scroll wheel on my
desktop mouse (it's an MS wireless optical mouse model 1008) scrolls
rather fast. Instead of moving a few lines, it scrolls half a page or
more with a very gentle scroll. The bluetooth mouse I use with my laptop
does not do this so it's probably somewhat hardware specific. However,
I'm wondering if there is a way to modify the speed or sensitivity. I
found an answer here from about a year ago
(https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/1339) that suggests
there isn't a way but I'm wondering if anything has changed since then.
I've also skimmed through synaptic but didn't see anything promising
(like gsynaptic for touchpads).

Thanks.

information.

[Bug 1138423] Re: evince does not display more then first page of ps documents

2013-03-01 Thread Adam Klobukowski
I'm attaching ps file that shows error in evince. It has three pages,
yet evince shows only one (it shows that there are more pages , but is
unable to render them). gv can render this file correctly

(I compressed file just for purposes of attaching it here, for all tests
I used it uncompressed).

** Attachment added: test.ps.gz

** Changed in: evince (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete = New
