Confirmed here too. Having trouble using 12.10 gvfs SMB client talking to an Ubuntu 12.10 Samba server. Stalls when copying directory structures to server. Re: [Bug 1053783] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 - Stalled shutdown after having had KAlarm opened; with package info.
Hey, Ok, thanks. I see that in this second trace none of the processes are stuck, they are just taking a while to shutdown. The information you suggested to me suggests that this is a new manifestation of a common shutdown bug where stopping down the various nepomuk processes would race against each other. This should have been fixed in the latest release, so my recommendation to you would be to update your nepomuk, akonadi, soprano and kalarm packages to the latest (4.10.1) version, when it becomes available next week. You will be able to get them from the kubuntu ppa as explained here: http://www.kubuntu.org/news/kde-sc-4.10 That should fix the slow shutdown, but to be clear, if your filesystem isn't unmounting properly, that's nothing to do with nepomuk - it's an ubuntu specific problem, and there's nothing I can do about it. Especially since you say it seems to happen even with nepomuk switched off. [Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share
Seems maybe not all of you have the same problem-cause... Anyway I had a similar problam copying from a samba share on Ubuntu 12.04 to Windows XP. The transfer would start but after a while hang. The same would happen using ftp on the same computers and network. Today I tried changing MTU (System Settings ... Network ... options ... tab wired) on the Ubuntu pc, from automatic to 1000. This value is just a wild guess after my first try of 1500. Now files transfer perfectly! Maybe this has something to do with the Path MTU Discovery black hole meaning: when one computer tries to send bigger packets over the network, somehow the error message from the receiving computer does not reach the original sender. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1075923 Title: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1075923/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share
This bug also affects me (gvfs 1.14.0-0ubuntu6 @ Ubuntu 12.10 i386). I've tested the simple work around suggested by interferenc #49 --thanks for that!-- and for me the best MTU number was 700. Any number seems to make better file transfer than automatic MTU (I've tested 4-5 numbers in between 300 and 1200). I would still have the transfer randomly stopping now and then, but in most cases it would resume after a while, as opposed to permanently stopping like it used to happen with the default automatic MTU option. There is probably a speed reduction, but -- at least for me -- it is worth waiting a little longer and having the files transferred with no errors. [Bug 124440] [NEW] Ubuntu needs a way to set mouse scrolling speed
You have been subscribed to a public bug: This has been driving me nuts for a while now. The scroll wheel on my desktop mouse (it's an MS wireless optical mouse model 1008) scrolls rather fast. Instead of moving a few lines, it scrolls half a page or more with a very gentle scroll. The bluetooth mouse I use with my laptop does not do this so it's probably somewhat hardware specific. However, I'm wondering if there is a way to modify the speed or sensitivity. I found an answer here from about a year ago (https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/1339) that suggests there isn't a way but I'm wondering if anything has changed since then. I've also skimmed through synaptic but didn't see anything promising (like gsynaptic for touchpads). Thanks. See https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/9200 for more information. ** Affects: gtk Importance: Wishlist Status: Fix Released ** Affects: hundredpapercuts Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: unity Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Affects: unity-2d Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: Triaged -- Ubuntu needs a way to set mouse scrolling speed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/124440 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 124440] Re: Ubuntu needs a way to set mouse scrolling speed
I believe the front-end for this should live in gnome-control-center (and probably needs to be fixed by GNOME if it's going to be implemented). [Bug 1138423] Re: evince does not display more then first page of ps documents
I'm attaching ps file that shows error in evince.
